omg, my vet does the same thing! Black Beauty is a boy cat. guess they didn't look...
My vet kept telling me ( for years) my rescued female cat was spayed... that was even after they had to use a cath for a urine sample and totally missed that HE was neutered. Lol

There's no proof that the vaccine even works. There's no trials or virologists or immunologists backing it. It may do nothing. Humans need trials and proof of efficacy and likelihood of negative side effects. For animal medicine that isn't necessary.
They don't offer the 3 year rabies vaccine anymore because it caused cancer, very aggressive cancer in the case of our cat. We had to put him down less than 2 mos after diagnosis. And it was rough, though. He kept in good spirits until the last few days.
We weren't warned about the risk before they administered it, and we should have been.
