This music makes it seem like climbing the Eiger is as easy as a whimsical trip to the ice cream shop.

After 1 minute the music forced a retreat and we abseiled off.

Watching with the volume turned off is the only option. Great video though.

Good presentation with the general view of the track in each step. You could certainly extend to 6 minutes and show more images, explain with text and some more info. Bravo, excellent images.

I did this route in 1978 with Larry Bruce. Early October. At the top of the Ramp the Ice Bulge was a short but difficult impediment before exiting onto the Ramp Icefield. Kind of like climbing up and over a huge ice basketball. In almost all the recent videos it is never in, only a dribble at best. All the way up we were wondering how it would go. Good times.

      Hey my friend
We are old man now......no one gives a fuck about what we did or archived when we were young.....hahaha
Good times......even greater memories.....and the sadness of seeing many a good friend passing away.....
      Such is life
      Cheers
      from Germany

Hi Steve. We've never met - but your name has been very familiar over the years. I recall landing in Boulder in the Fall of 1978 - when I say "landing" I actually mean "arriving in a bus from Denver where we'd landed in a plane" - to the news that we'd been invited for tea at Molly's. Molly was at home, obviously, together with two Antipodean visitors: Chris and Coral. Coral's hands were heavily bandaged - following a well-known incident in which she'd frighteningly narrowly saved herself from certain death in Eldo by what I can only describe as grim hang-on-in-there fortitude. Larry wasn't there at the time, but he subsequently joined us for a couple days down at Turkey Rocks.
The internet has made the world shrink a little; I hope we'll meet at some point.

I so much admire this people. I was a skydiver because the earth looked very far away to be harmful. This is different, in any case, doing one thing really well is what gives meaning to life.

I wonder if these guys knew there was a much easier route to the top going up the side of the mountain, woulda saved a lot of time and effort

One would imagine that they did; it's the normal descent route after climbing the north face - and people generally tend to be aware of how they're going to get down before they head off up.
