Oh Mike I’m so sorry, for the problems your having on your truck build, I don’t think the company you bought it from, was too honest about what was wrong with this truck. I believe there’s a lot more reasons why this truck was taken out of use for them!!! I hope you have better luck with it, you could use a break in life, I know you always try to be honest about everything you fix and try to sell , my prayers go out to you Mike🙏🙏😎😎👍👍🍮🍮

Hi Mike, love your video's, the others I see all seem to have unlimited funds and just go buy stuff, that's not my world, I'm a regular guy like yourself and life can be a struggle and that's why I think your the best and most entertaining and the most honest fella.
Let's face it everything is a gamble but you just have the spark of imagination to work things out.

Once a year up in Alaska they launched all kind of vehicles off of this big giant Hill... you should document a road trip up there, and then enlisted in the launchings of the vehicles off the cliff and document it all,😃

That's the way to do it Captain , sneak up on those nuts and bolts.
Mike find you a old 12v cummins and throw in there . They were common in those trucks. Just buy an old school bus for a donor with a good 12v so it will have air compressor for the brakes and use transmission and all.. dont get an automatic .. could also go with dt366 or dt466 both excellent engines

Hey Mike, on anything with a PTO, you usually have to put the clutch in (if it is a standard) or in neutral to engage the PTO... then activate the hydraulics for the bed... I did not look in your video to see if it is a manual or automatic. It appears that it works though!
im doin ok captain i got some work done on my 88 4runner getting the grill tab holes fixed on the 90 front core which wasnt meant to fit an 88 grill but it does now i had to weld up some spots that were too weak to hold the grill an added a bit of weld to a couple spots that got too big so the clips have something to hold thank you for asking!

you have to put it in gear, engage PTO, then put it in neutral, it is not a HOT shift PTO

Dad had truck just like it and the problem with it was points in disturber junk!! Even newe points didn’t work had to put in electronic point and boom runs just fine now 😊

@Captain When you put the pto in gear you got push the clutch pedal in first then hold it while you engage the pto !

Mike, think you need to put transmission into gear then put PTO in? Not saying that is the case but I have had that happen with a dump truck that I used to drive? Hopefully that helps sir.

Never rely on the number on the filter as you don’t know if the previous owner used the right one always cross reference in the repair manual

I share your sentiment, and I've only read the title and watched the first minute so far....
was it the hyd system engaging or the engine? would think the transmission would be put into neutral to engage. Like 4 wheel low engagement. Still 2k for a sound work flat bed of that size.

I must have missed something. It sounded to me that you were trying to engage the PTO with out stepping on the clutch, hence the grinding. Not sure how that is related to the engine stalling.
Them old big blocks need a LOT of gas to cold start.. pump that accelerator!

Build a thick😍😍😍😍😍 steel trap door in the bed so you can fill up the hydraulic for the bed when the bed is down I have one I made for my dump truck it is way safer and better and easy to fill the flip down door with the hinge toward the front of the bed so when you dump so the door stay close and the dirt will slide over it with no problem

You put oil in the cylinders, then pumped that oil out. Some of that oil was pumped into the exhaust and some onto the manifolds. It will take some time to burn it off.
FYI I think that that truck needs to be in gear to engage PTO. Or at least that’s what it sounded like.
I’m guessing the way it shut off at the end wasn’t part of the plan. 🤔
That lower coolant “tank” couldn’t be in a more vulnerable position. Is that actually a factory item or just someone’s work around for another Ford Engineering marvel?
