On the merchandise side, absolutely, but it's always a skewed way to measure it, if the company has commissioned a far greater range of Cody merchandise for the fans to pick from. Cody has over 250 items in the shop for fans to pick, whereas somebody like a Logan Paul who has a lot more fans, and a far greater reach around the world than most of the WWE roster, only has about 20+ items, so immediately somebody like a Logan Paul is already at a disadvantage when they could be doing a lot more, when Cody essentially has 800% more item space. Obviously discounting the WWE Prime deal, but it's as if they are reluctant because he isn't marketing the products outside of the company - he didn't even take the US title when in Florida for his brothers match against Mike Perry, which some allegedly aren't chuffed about
Bravo to Cody Rhodes for being a professional and going out of his way not to bury the other company. If he tells the truth then so be it. And to me, Cody has inside information and knows what's been going on in AEW. He knows that Tony Khan's delusional behavior has put AEW in a really bad spot and only the die hard AEW marks refuse to see it.
5:32 Softest and emotionally challenged is exactly right. AEW got me back into watching wrestling in 2020 after I stopped back in mid 2000s. I think it’s important to say that Cody pre-AEW and Cody post-AEW are two nearly different characters. New fans don’t know pre-Cody, and Old fans never regarded him as important enough to remember. Post-Cody is just getting started though, so compare him to Cena’s first run, not movie star John Cena.

Personally, I think Priest has had the better title run as world champ. Cody's 1st match with AJ is better than any match Priest has had as champ, but the story is boring with Cody. With Priest, it's been good matches and even better story. Everything Cody right now feels like it's wait for Roman and Rock to show up. Wait for Randy or KO to turn. Cody though? He appeals to children just as much as adults (specifically the working class). His dad was the same way. Kids look at him like he’s a superhero, adults look at him and see a common man (working hard with his hands). 😂 I’m really tired of Roman stans thinking that they speak for the ENTIRE wrestling fanbase. Cody is hot as Bleach Blonde Sting was in his early WCW days, and the reason why WWE is still around, there business model is all about pleasing Kids, the future customers of WWE, not the adults eating Cheetos in their parent’s basements.
The minute they announced Bloodline Rules for Summerslam I thought Solo is winning the world title for sure. If he doesn’t that BloodLine Rulez stipulation is useless.
Cody got a big rub from the Rock and the Bloodline storyline which helped catapult his stardom. WWE built a showdown between the People’s champ vs the Undisputed champ
My God I love this answer that Eric just gave about THAT type of fans😂can I use it as a Quote🙏😂😁 For me personally it’s unintelligible in the aspect of Tribalism because at the end of the day You support and cheer Your favorite Wrestler and not the company itself there are wrestlers I like not just in WWE and AEW but also in ROH, TNA some other indie ones, ones that don’t wrestle anymore even..🤷♀️( but I come across as that unfitting to any group type due to being open minded and having unconventional line of thinking..) On the topic of the oversensitive Karens, the sad truth is that’s not just wrestling or AEW fans but parts of social groups that are this way and I don’t know what went wrong during which part of Their genetic evolution but life failed Them🤷♀️
Im only watching clips of Cody Rhodes or Kevin Owens because they are always great. I gave up on watching any of the shows be i dont ever want to see Logan Paul on anything.
Put Cody over Orton just before that during late 2024, give him the full push and platform, give him these two heated feuds with a big legend and a mega star
It’s a shame Eric is pandering to the larger fanbase like this. I watch both and im in groups for both and it seems like a constant barrage of WWE fans going out of their way to AEW groups to put everything down. While there is the occasional AEW fan going out of their way to do the same it seems like a 90/10 split of which WWE fans are being toxic and going out of their way.
Cody is OK, but lets be honest - he's nowhere near the level of a John Cena with very little crossover appeal Cena had. WWE right now, is riding off of a lot of other factors - The TKO takeover, The Rock, and Logan Paul's appearance's, the return of CM Punk, and may other things. Putting a growth spurt wholly down to just Cody Rhodes is a bit unfair. He's bland as a face, and hasn't got anywhere near where he could be. He'd be far better served as a protagonist to somebody else better suited as a natural face, even though he is selling a lot of merchandise into the existing fan base
My question is who will he drop the title to when the times comes...Orton?....But even Cody knows he will always be connected to AEW...and how sensitive their fans are😅
Meltzer is a clown claiming Cody is more over than cena was. Keep in mind due to inflation ticket prices and merch prices will be higher now than 10/15 years ago when Cena was at his peak so expect sales to be higher.
If you compared Cena during his run, yeah, Cody is as big. If not bigger. The business 3:33 is doing great. Cena had a ton of haters because Vince pushed him so hard
It's looking like (TNA) Joe Hendry is more popular and desired than Cody according to Social Media...🤔💭 UA-cam Posts of Joe Hendry is getting more clicks than the ones of Cody. How's that even possible? Sheesh 🙄😂
AEW fans cheer whenever an ex-WWE superstar shows up on AEW and trashes their former company. Cody does the same and they get upset. You really can't make it up.
I was really hoping for AEW to take a legitimate run at WWE but for the last 2 years its been complete dog shit. I hoped that Tony Khan was going to be another Bischoff type Booker but instead he turned into Dixie.
Most Over Babyface? Roman Reigns gets way more pop and is way more marketable than Cody Rhodes, and all signs are pointing to a baby face run for him. 90% of fans want Roman as the face of the company. The 10% that want Cody are just the IWC Marks
Cody is boring, but the kids love him. So he's gotta be champ for a long time. Hey, I loved Hogan as kid. Kids loved Cena when he was champ. Plus we just had 4 years of a heel Roman Reigns as champ. So I think Cody is going to be on top for a long time. Regardless if I or anyone else finds him boring.
Cody created a brand too big for AEW. He really needed WWE to give him an opportunity, and the fanbase saw him wrestle with a torn pec... He is super over. He carries himself like a champion. I started watching AEW when they got FTR and STing and for a while they had a good product... while Vince was serving up the same old tired bull$hit... I stopped watching AEW after the Wembley stadium show. WWE has been on fire... literally every storyline is at least decent, most of them are great... Cody fills out the roster beautifully.
Is this a real question? The same thing they've done with everyone else who was way over and lost the title. Cena, Reigns, HHH, Austin, The Rock, Taker, etc....they will keep him away for a while then have him show up and draw money and ratings at just the right time.
Cody is great. The bloodline story is dead.... Move on already Bloodline story is tired and wore out. If they'd kill it and let Cody fued properly he'd shoot to the moon

Cody though? He appeals to children just as much as adults (specifically the working class). His dad was the same way. Kids look at him like he’s a superhero, adults look at him and see a common man (working hard with his hands). 😂
I’m really tired of Roman stans thinking that they speak for the ENTIRE wrestling fanbase. Roman stans make up a very small, shadowy corner of the fanbase. Anytime Cody is applauded for the success he’s bringing to WWE…here come Roman stans. “NuH uH tHatS nOt tRuE bEcAuSe **i** liKe rOmAn MoRe!!!”
At the end of the day, I'm not saying that the ratings were so high before cody held the title but since he held it has the ratings gone up definitely not. The guy is not even the main focus on smack down because of the bloodline and when the rock and Roman reigns return, he will just be in the shadow of those two.
@@JoKiR90 absolutely. I think Roman fans just can’t give Cody credit because they don’t understand why people genuinely like Cody and didn’t genuinely like Roman and still don’t honestly. Cody has a connection with the fans that’s organic and Roman will never have that outside of the bloodline cliq of fans who idolized themselves through him. And now you see how they want Roman to be a babyface which is funny lmao
@@glennBMFV the ratings are the same it was when Roman was the “star” of the show. And question you said when Roman and Rock comes back he will be in the shadows… was Cody in the shadows during the lead up to mania? I think he was a pretty big part. It was Roman that got over shadowed in a big way lmao. But we ain’t gonna talk about that.
I'm not even watching TV and I saw this coming. I don't know what you mean "nobody expected this". There are people who definitely saw this.
Bischoff has some Kevin Sullivan eyebrows...dungeon of doom feel
Nobody outside the neckbeard bubble gives af lol. Cena as U.S champion with the spinning belt was more over with a mainstream audience than any main eventer in either company.
I think Cody is not bigger than Cena (yet), and Roman is the biggest star (after a decade(?) of being boring and forced down on us by vince), but I can‘t remember any great babyface champion other than Cody in the last few years. He does a great job. I think he will be an even bigger star as a heel down the road.
Walking my dog listening
Wow.... Eric can still cut a killer promo!!!
QT Marshall saying CTE never killed someone or ended career and CONRAD AGREED TO IT!!!
No such thing
@@jabrockobiden9434 yes he did i have screenshot
Cody is more popular with Kids and young fans, however the older fans of WWE aren’t as emotionally connected to Cody. Cody is hot as Bleach Blonde Sting was in his early WCW days, and the reason why WWE is still around, there business model is all about pleasing Kids, the future customers of WWE, not the adults eating Cheetos in their parent’s basements.
I am 48 and a big fan of Cody!
i like this dude
If they follow Johnathan cena it's nothing nice guy gimmick until the wheels fall off lol
but don't forget: without AEW there would be no main event Cody in WWE today and no CM Punk in WWE today.
My God I love this answer that Eric just gave about THAT type of fans😂can I use it as a Quote🙏😂😁
For me personally it’s unintelligible in the aspect of Tribalism because at the end of the day You support and cheer Your favorite Wrestler and not the company itself there are wrestlers I like not just in WWE and AEW but also in ROH, TNA some other indie ones, ones that don’t wrestle anymore even..🤷♀️( but I come across as that unfitting to any group type due to being open minded and having unconventional line of thinking..)
On the topic of the oversensitive Karens, the sad truth is that’s not just wrestling or AEW fans but parts of social groups that are this way and I don’t know what went wrong during which part of Their genetic evolution but life failed Them🤷♀️
Im only watching clips of Cody Rhodes or Kevin Owens because they are always great. I gave up on watching any of the shows be i dont ever want to see Logan Paul on anything.
You have to thank the rock as well
Love some kratom. Gets me through the day
I wondered how many of the ratings came from adults, teens, and kids?
Put Cody over The Rock clean at WrestleMania 41 and make the feud even more intense and bloody then the one this year.
EB cut a promo on the AEW fans 😂👏👏👏
Is kratom good? As Eric stated
My question is who will he drop the title to when the times comes...Orton?....But even Cody knows he will always be connected to AEW...and how sensitive their fans are😅
Ur saying AEW fans are trans activist?
Agreed.
Cena had a ton of haters because Vince pushed him so hard
being over and being a superstar is 2 different things including legendary status. He is not on a Cena level or Roman well maybe Roman but na
If I had to be an AEW fan, I'd tell a doctor to lock myself up in a rubber room and feed me Gerber baby food.
❤
I hope AEW will be okay.
It's looking like (TNA) Joe Hendry is more popular and desired than Cody according to Social Media...🤔💭
UA-cam Posts of Joe Hendry is getting more clicks than the ones of Cody. How's that even possible? Sheesh 🙄😂
Social media isnt real life
@@jabrockobiden9434Definitely make believe bullshit..
So aew fans chased cody away and now are mad hes succeeding
AEW fans cheer whenever an ex-WWE superstar shows up on AEW and trashes their former company. Cody does the same and they get upset. You really can't make it up.
Please give the quote where Cody has "trashed" AEW, anywhere.
You're making stuff up from your imagination.
EZE for president
More over than cena no sir, maybe make that statement 5-10 years from now. Put some respect on Cenas name 🤚🏾
Uhh.. "Newsletter writers?" More like fiction writers.
I think his title run has been boring. I'm just waiting for the inevitable Orton/Rhodes fued
I watch aew but thay do stupid stuff to much but I still like watching
Can we just have Eric do the podcast get rid of AEW mark Conrad
I was really hoping for AEW to take a legitimate run at WWE but for the last 2 years its been complete dog shit. I hoped that Tony Khan was going to be another Bischoff type Booker but instead he turned into Dixie.
Congratulations Cody. He deserves all of this. 👏👏👏👏
Cody is a boring chump
Codys run is so fucking boring 😂
Uh oh…. Rumors and innuendo-vile……
Cody need the title to be relevant what theyre gonna do with him when he lose the title?
What's it matter right now?
Bron Steiner is the future and everybody knows it.
Is this a real question? The same thing they've done with everyone else who was way over and lost the title. Cena, Reigns, HHH, Austin, The Rock, Taker, etc....they will keep him away for a while then have him show up and draw money and ratings at just the right time.
Aew guy fans pee sitting down ! That sums it up !
Wheres the lie
Cody is great. The bloodline story is dead.... Move on already
Bloodline story is tired and wore out. If they'd kill it and let Cody fued properly he'd shoot to the moon
"No one" is NOT HYPHENATED!!!
But it is here.
Came to see if ads are still interrupted with some pro wrestling talk..than I stayed bc Bischoff can’t even see the irony in his words😂...
Being boring? Everyone did
😅
Omg Cody is so over rated. He's boring. I can't remember last time he got me interested. I do admit he seems like a sweet person to the fans and kids. But as a man I find him unrelatable and not cool
I don't like Cody Rhodes. He's a chump Don't like Good guys I'm a Heel fan bad guys

I'm so goddamn tired of Slody and the bloodline I could spit nails. I shall not be hearing you here talking about it. Every freaking friday for two years now with the same bs.
Cody
Cody sucks. He's boring. His mic skills are awful. His finisher is plain dumb. He's got a cool song where fans get to say Whoa twice. He cannot carry that company.
Nobody but Cody cry babies said Cody would be the face of the WWE. But Roman will always be the face of the WWE. Cody too damn boring.
Trash take lol 🤦🤣🤣🤣
Romansexuals don't want to admit that Roman was handpicked by Vince McMahon to be the face of WWE and you didn't even exist when Roman is the most hated babyface during that time as the Big Dog. He's the definition of "boring".
Cody can be the face of WWE since he's the most over babyface at present. Unlike Babyface Roman back then (which is manufactured), babyface Cody is ORGANICALLY over. And Cody is present in every house show, something that Roman rarely attends.
I don't know about Roman but you will reject him as a babyface if he's gonna come back as the Big Dog or something close to that. 😂
Roman is boring AF
