Just picked up a bottle of this stuff here in Denver. This is the first bottle of scotch I've ever purchased for myself! I like it a lot so far! Reminds me a bit of Basil Hayden's bourbon, with the bit of vanilla and caramel flavor (not sure if you guys mentioned that). I like the video!

And so your conversion begins......LOL! How long before you turn into a peat head? OK, that's not fair as it doesn't happen to everyone....but I'd say watching our evolution it just happens that way! One day we're all Sherry lovers and the next day we're chewing on freshly cut peat....Anywho, we'll be keeping an eye on ya' to see what you try next! Thanks for commenting, we really enjoy the dialogue!~Cheers,Mark

According to when I talked with the US brand ambassador, all Glenrothes bottles are natural color. At a recent tasting they had the 1998 and 1995 American Oak vintages, the later I plan on picking up before the store is out though I would like to find the 2001 vintage.

The Glenrothes is one of those whiskies that improves after a few weeks of opening.

Yeah....nothing gets past you Hogi! That was my goof - I had it uploaded and tagged but launched 82 + 83 first. I decided to launch it this morning to save some time. I guess we skipped right over poor 81 :-) -Drew

Tried this as we type. Less than impressed. Moved to the Bowmore Darkest!

Scotch 4 Dummies Will do. Did you tried the Glendronach 18 Allardice? If not, try it. One of the best imo.

Not yet, but have been contemplating buying another case of the 12 as it's being sold off at some great prices due to the recent new ownership....We'll get to the 18 Allardice...sooner or later....getting to the point where we're going to have to draw straws to see who sells the first kidney!

I've never had the Glenrothes 2001. Although I have had the Glenrothes 1985 and that is probably one of my top 5 best bottles. Of course 10 years ago, you can find it on the shelves for $129 and now its gone or your going to pay hundreds of dollars if found. I have the Glenrothes 1995 hoping to get some of that 1985 tasting and that didn't happen. So for now, Glenrothes is off my radar list with nothing really appealing to me. Ah, poached pears, skinned and cut in half brewing in a pot of sweet red wine and spice. Finished off with vanilla ice cream and mint. Great review.

Mark, I must admit. I went to the CCA in S.F. and graduated in 2004. I did my externship at Wente Winery in Livermore.

Seems to substantiate my suspicion the quality of Glenrothes is very vintage-dependent. Probably better to rely on trusted reviews and recommendations.

Hogibaer, I would totally agree with you on that.
