- In this video I will show you where to find and how to tame the fjordhawk, one of the new creatures released in the latest map for ARK: Survival Evolved: Fjordur. The Fjordhawk has a ravenous appetite and is tamed by killing stuff around it to devour infront of you! The tame rate is based on the drag weight of what you kill. The Fjordhawk has an amazing ability to take your stuff back to you after you die so no losing your inventory! This makes them an amazing choice for a shoulder pet for both PVE and PVP!

But what if a online player kills you. Does he/she have enough time to kill the bird aswell.
@@Kingkong-gy5qt the bird doesn’t teleport until you spawn, your best hope is to put it on passive flee and hope he doesn’t bola it
@@MrSharkSaver50 fake, hawk is invulnerable, as you can see on your icon bottom right screen... and also, does teleport with your bag away from the battlefield when you die, untill you respawn.
Perhaps when it was 1st released it had no inventory of its own but now you can add things (like meat) to its inventory. This is good because most dinos slow the decay of food they carry.

I tamed my first one off of a hundred or so penguins of all ages entire penguin families were cleansed it was a dark day and absolutely destroyed the levels but the penguin herds were only thing nearby
Nice way to use your surroundings. I resorted to dino genocide and killed an astonishing amount of its own kind along with a couple of beavers.

"small amount", in this region is a secluded River with a steg where i build my First base and on a Day i just explored the Map and found this place whit SO MUCH Hawks xD. I killed most of them by accident but tamed 4. This Video was super helpfull, thought one of my hawk's was bugged because he didn't had an Inventory where i could lvl him up xx.
Can you take them into a boss fight? Curios if they will bring back items if you die in boss fight
If you kill other dinos on a tame I believe you have to hop off of your tame and stand near the dead dino for it to count towards the taming bar. If i didn't do this it's taming bar would not raise.
This, plus if they weren't already following you when you killed the dino has been my problem.

Thank you sooo much it helped me a lot also quick story: my fjordhawk I recently tamed was on my shoulder, keep that in mind, my Andrewsarcus died and I was far away from my base so I went on foot to it and almost died but cheated to get out of it but wouldn’t of had to because of my fjordhawk
how do u apply level ups to the hawks if they have no inventory?

Catch and breed Ovises (Spelling?) cryo like 3-4 of them and slaughter them (need to have your sword or pick out) . This gets these guys tamed up with a quickness.
What about if you go under water will it die on your shoulder or when u die

I went to collect magmasaur eggs with the help of the fjordhawk. It returned to me without them. Do the items have to be in your inventory for an extended period of time for the hawk to return them to you? I only got back the meat I took there (it was the only thing I took). I held 2 eggs for about 5s before I got a boulder to the face.
my fjordhawk died with all my stuff. Ik where i died but what happens to the loot? does it drop a bag or does it just disappear?
Does the fjordhawk immediatly teleport away after taking ur stuff? Because if so kitting people is nigh-impossible

The hawk can still be killed if it's not on your shoulder. So if it dies to the fire attack when you die then it might be bad. once you die, your Hawk becomes vulnerable.

@@mayapapaya4952 It would have to happen fast b/c they teleport directly where you spawn. I think grabbing eggs would totally be doable.

What does disable prey detection do?
Does the weight stat matter? Didn't look like it, so that's an awesome thing to move to a new location right from the start. U craft a base, pick it up, suicide and respawn wherever you want to build
I haven't experienced a weight limit but I think the max items they can hold would be the main limiting factor. I have no idea what they can carry before becoming "Black Bagged" but I think it is the same for players and tames so if you are black bagged and you have items equipped on your hotbar and have armor on, expect to lose some items. No idea what it will priotize either. it seemed to pick up my inventory from bottom to top so I would expect hotbar and equipped armor to be left behind if that happens.
does it work also with sleeping bags?

Tried this when going after lightening wyvern eggs on Fjordur. Hawk came back to me but inventory was empty.
It will not show up in your inventory or the hawks, there should have been a bag or item cache that was near your current spawn
I got killed with hawk on my shoulder and no gear returned and no gear left at death site.

Wild fjordhawks will take your bag if you happen to die near them. Say bye bye to your items if that happens.

I ran into 3 tek allos 3 weird turkeys that start bleeds 5 weird hairless dogs ravangers i ment and 6 ankys trieing to get honey i have metal tools and leather armor or had leather armor i didn't i i jumped off a cliff and dropped in water

Damn bro what are your multipliers? I'm on an official and without an evo event, standard 1x rates it takes about 40 dead brontos to get a lvl 90 to tame. Have not managed it yet because they always get hit by something and the bar just resets well before I'm even half done.
Get ovis lv100 & above then level health up high, find the fjordhawk u want ball out ovis then with a sword out hold square (ps5) select slaughter QUICKLY select drag body & start walking around with it nice steady pace fjordhawk will eat for more than 3 bites repeat till tamed 👌
What if you die in a cave?
will the hawk still bring your stuff if you die underwater? for instance if killed by a megladon or a mossa?
Can confirm. Died to a Megla at around 120 meters below surface, still spawned with Fjordhawk and items

For some reason when I die it comes back when I respawn but with nothing in its inventory. Very fun.
At first I thought I had the same issue, but it turned out my loot bag ended up on my roof. For context, my house was only two walls high, so it might be a bug with short buildings. In the future, perhaps check on top of your base, or upper floors if multi-tiered?

I did this on the lava golem boss I killed it and kill in the lava and my hawk got everything ez
so my fjordhawk has an inventory.
Yeah It was weird, it wasn't showing for me earlier in the day, but after I reset my PC the inventory appeared. Sorry about that.
How do I open the inventory on xbox?
@@mikefrommichigan9618 usually its to walk up to the dino or if its on your shoulder throw it out and press x or hold y and pick access inventory.

Will your own tames work?
Any dino corpse works. Must be a corpse though. They are passive as far as I can tell. However they do swoop at what you are attacking sometimes to take little hits at it, so sometimes you hit them by accident and they fly really far away which is a bit bad so keep an eye out for them swooping and aim low for melee when possible.

Can someone test out if it works if you die under water?
It works anywhere, it seems. If in a short-rooved, or low ceiling base, might want to check the roof. My loot bag ended up there after I respawned and I thought it didn't bring it back, yet it did.

Hawk finds a way
Fjord hawks are dumb af. I’ve lost 3 inventories now. Respawned and it didn’t bring my stuff back. Or the one time it left it in the air and I couldn’t retrieve it and it despawned. Oh or if you have a roof over your bed it will come through the roof but your stuff could be stuck under a jump pad in a different part of your base completely away from your bed.
to much buggy i lost all my item in one death the bird was there but no bags around lol i prefer use mod for this and i will never use this bird not safe for your stuff the idea was great but buggy sorry

The bird can be shot and killed while the player is on PVP respawn cooldown. The hawk teleports to you only when you spawn and sorta just flies in circles waiting for you.
Maya is incorrect, I’ve been using it on pvp for two days now. The hawk will grab your kit and dissapear once the map appears with selections on respawning. It is utterly overpowered but I love it. I was grabbed off my griffin ten times and I just suicide, respawn, and get right back in the fight with my gear. Nothing they can do especially since the hawk is invulnerable to the first attack that connects with it.

@@schrottiyhd6776 Everyone can tame one so I don't see why that would be an issue in pvp. Will it become the new meta to always carry one to protect the stuff you've worked for; probably so but new metas are refreshing. What's the point of stealing someone's gear in pvp anyways? I get taking their resources but if you're taking their gear the only reason is so you spawn kill them while they are defenseless. Where's the fun in that?
@@dungoncrazy2634 it is fucked if you cannot get the stuff of somebody, just because he has an fjordhawk, which causes everybody to only fight with tames that can one shot player and hawk right afterwards! Ground fights are not possible then anymore if those hawks are breed a bit into hp cause everybody sits on a giga or something ... Next thing is that you can transfer out everything for free out of your base! ... So online raids are even more impossible as well as mesh spots much better to transfer in some element in etc.. ... It is not well designed and I don't like it !
