Great examples of D3 images. I love mine, which I purchased earlier this year with only 6035 shutter clicks. It's a hefty beast of a camera which I expect will outlive me.
I have a D3s and love it. I just found a D4 though with a SC of 1416! It was a like new camera for $900 with charger and battery. Go figure. It works perfectly.
Carmine I own a D3 D700 and a D300, with that battery and a battery grip for the D300 and D700 you can get 8-9 shots per second. But you must have the battery extension for them, that is the part the battery connects too. I am from the UK, hope this helps for any one who owns these cameras.
I just scored a D3 with a 16,376 shutter count w/ all original packaging and extra Nikon battery for $365.00, the deals are out there for this amazing camera.
I recently bought a D3S (chose for higher ISO performance than D3) and purchased 2 EN-EL4A batteries, new (never used) from Japan👍🏻 took it to a small daytime concert at an art gallery. I really enjoyed the images out of the camera and even more after post processing in Adobe. The only thing I don’t like about it is the red focus box in the viewfinder is very small and not easy to navigate where you want but, if you can manage to hit subject, the sharpness and image quality is wonderful!
I had a D3 (paid over $3000 CAD for it a few years ago) -- only after acquiring a D3S and two D3X's did I let my D3 go. The D3 range is the best. It's still my go-to sport-shooter... I don't think the Z series can really match it yet.
I bought a D300 in 2007 while waiting for my D3 to arrive in 2008 due to the worldwide shortage. Now history repeats and I'm waiting for my Z9 to arrive to replace it. Also, its price, size & weight is more or less the same as my first SLR, the F2A + Motor Drive + Battery Pack back then. 🙂

@@CarmineTavernaPhotography thanks for the update. I also thought my focusing screen had gone bad. I didn’t realize that the finder has some type of electrical component that brightens and sharpens the image seen thru the finder. Without a battery you can tell the difference. My Canon 1Dx also works in this way. But my older Canon 40d does not work in that way.
So, I ditched my D7000 because trying to calibrate a lens was not in my best interest when it came to ever wanting to pick up a camera again. Does the D3 also require lens calibration? From what I know, the D300 does not. I just want to not hate taking photographs, because it's the only thing I actually enjoy doing in life. Help, please.
Gorgeous photographs. I just finally purchased a D3 from Roberts Camera through eBay with only 80 some thousand clicks and in excellent condition, Roberts rated it a 9 out of 10. Great find. I’m in Love with this camera. My D700 and other Nikons will be taking a break for a while now. Although, i did take the grip off the D700 from your suggestion, and boy did the camera shrink...haha. Much better for street photography. And now I’m lugging around the D3 beast and worth every minute. Much appreciate the first person historic lesson of what happened in those fields with the commercial airliners. Tragic, and very sad. It’s good for people to know and remember. And to also know the original military use for the property to keep us safe. Another excellent video presentation.
Hello and thank you for your kind words. Congratulations on your purchase of a Nikon D3. 80k clicks is nothing for a D3. The D3 my associate uses has 320k clicks and zero problems.
As a casual shooter, it took me 3 years to take 15,000 shots with my camera. So I think buying a used body with 100,000 shots in it can still last me for a longgggg while xD

Same here only 7,000 shutter clicks, lots of life left in these cameras.

You are absolutely correct. The Z line of Nikon's are still in the infancy stage of development when compared to classics like the Nikon D3 D3s D3x
I have a mint D3. Had to just get the fog out of the rear display. Its a beast and a beauty.
Thanks also for the history of Miller Field - that was a horribly tragic crash.
Good luck with that bad boy D3!

What have you done when the batteries die? Have you bought used batteries or third party batteries?
Amazon sells replacement Nikon D3 batteries made by 3rd parties. Batteries have never been a problem with the D3.
