definitely some of the most exciting. the talent pool may not be as deep as today but it was a golden era for fans as Pride also had monsters in their prime
I trained at his dojo in slo. Pretty sure his brothers were running it for him. All super nice people. See him hanging around downtown. Never did meet him. I do love mma… but the older I get the harder it is to watch. Don’t like to see people getting injured in the short term or long term. What a legend!!
Sucks to hear Chuck sound like this. A true legend that couldn’t hang it up early enough. The guy just took so much unnecessary damage. I hope he’s able to live a long, normal life.
People speak in different ways on different occasions, it's all good. I suppose during times when he's not on speed he can calm down like any regular person, and slowly describe a clearer picture of whatever he'd like to talk about.
Chuck was a real fighter and not just an "MMA athlete". his street fighting stories were legendary. my favourite one as told by Pat Miletich: a bunch of MMA fighters got into a drunken brawl one night. Chuck got outside the bar and walked towards a GROUP of guys and just started swinging and dropping bodies, while Tito (think he still got the LHW belt) got KTFO by Lee Murray, a middleweight journeyman. good times
Chuck was the reason I grew to love the sport so much. Never missed a PPV he was on. Just hated seeing the way he ended his career. Hope he has no long term damage but his speech is very concerning.
Thank you Chuck, watching this left me upset because I hadn't heard him in awhile do an interview. He's having trouble putting a sentence together and slurring his speech. This is why Gsp.and Khabib got out earlier than they had to. People can knock fighter's if they want bug why would you want them hanging around longer than they need to be?
You will never, ever see someone as deadly as he was, with his slow lazy looking style, until he turned it on and threw bombs. Hes on the Mount Rushmore if MMA no doubt. He was the face of MMA when it boomed in the early 2000's.
He was always passionate about fighting so i get his party lifestyle so he can get that rush somehow when he can't fight anymore. I just hope he stays healthy.
he is either showing signs of all those punches to the head or he is dealing addiction pre or post recovery , his hands the way he talks hes not the same
If you watch Chucks interviews when he was still starting out in the UFC, he sounded normal. Now, the brain damage is quite obvious and he didn’t get knock out until later in his career.
If you think Chuck is bad now wait till he turns 55. People should watch the Jerry Quarry documentary he’s 50 in it and he can barely speak it’s so freaking sad Chuck is on his way he didn’t quit in time or he should never have started. I would never put my kid in MMA ever
CTE doesn't make you a brain dead moron dude. You obviously have no clue what CTE actually is and does so do yourself a favor and just stay quiet. Chuck's slurring and mental degradation comes down to tow things. Prolong continuous Brain Trauma (CTE) and copious amounts of drug abuse that he continues to do to this day.
Because CTE is a progressive disease, go look up Mike Webster and Gary Goodridge, both started off fine but as the damage piled up their speech became slurred, sure Gary is still in the early-mid stages of CTE but Mike Webster in his interview was already off the deep end
honestly i look at the comments and im confused, chucks took some damaggebut ive seen this before, alot of guys will try an talk so quick and so much they stumble and he doesnt need to, he was so calm in the cage when he spoke an now he tries to talk so quick so he doesnt come across as slow... chuck has nothing to hide, i hope he slows down an lives happy
100% man… sad to see him get brutally KO those last 3 or 4 fights apparently it’s because when ur brain takes so much damage it shuts off early before to save yourself from more damage .. that’s why he got KOd really quick or by not to hard punches in the later ones
Rashad evans killed this man career, that knock took everything away from him he never recovered after that, carried on fighting to much took 3-4 more knockouts that wasn’t necessary
oh gtfoh it was just the era he was in. everyone still hard sparred damn near daily, it was just different. you seem casual enough to be too young to know that though. also chuck had a job essentially only in title making 6 figures in the ufc for YEARS after retirement just because dana had a soft spot for him.
You're a Legend Chuck. ♥️♥️ 👍👍
Chucks years in the UFC were some of the very best UFC years in my opinion 🤙

I met him last weekend at the fan expo. Took some pics with him.
So you got soft. Men need to maintain their edge the world does not get any easier just because time passes by.
@@markcoleman7246 Having empathy for people is not being soft, just like not caring is not being tough.
@@ettorebugatti9354 well said. Also many guys confuse being an asshole with being tough

Mate, substance abuse will be why he is talking like he is
Breaking my heart. Maybe it's coke. Maybe it's something else. I'm sure CTE is playing a part too.
plus coke and alcohol played a huge role in his life as well as knocked out

You must be young to the sport...chucks always talked this way. He's coherent.....not everyone has your preferred speech patterns
Cte clearly has him. Speech is so slurred. Sad to hear such a legend like that
Chuck was very intelligent and well articulated when he was younger. College degree in accounting I seem to remember. Sad to hear him like this now
Booze and coke for decades on top of the accumulated punches

Chuck your the reason I started watching UFC
My all-time fav MMA fighter. A straight shooter. Go Iceman
Man those last few knockouts have done long term damage. Dude was a legend in his day!
Dana White always has a very fluid relationship with facts and truth. He is always "talking his book"
He couldn’t stop the partying and it caught up with him.
Chuck was the reason I grew to love the sport so much. Never missed a PPV he was on. Just hated seeing the way he ended his career. Hope he has no long term damage but his speech is very concerning.
He's still quick and formulates correct logical expressions, so he's most likely on amphetamines.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's what's up.

GSP should've retired after the beating Hendricks put on him back in '13! Brutal skull rattling that one was!

It was way past time he was a punching bag knocked out by a gust of wind.

He doesnt sound that good anymore unfortunately. But great to see him with paddy

2 paraphrases that young people need to hear from Chuck......
1. You gotta be doing something.....
2. I realized I can't fight at that level anymore.
