The Virgin Aelfric vs. The Chad Jeralt
Moral of the story: don't be a simp.
Is that basically the DLC (I was thinking of getting, since I just started my golden Deer run on new game+)
@@jesse7572 You get 4 new characters each with a new class you can give to others, new relics, and the 8 chapter side story that has some pretty harsh difficulty curve and limits your characters and your access to the stuff that breaks the normal game. There is some interesting lore stuff and additional backstory for Jeralt/Byleth.
Aelfric took the friendzoning like a champ, he wished nothing but the best for her and Jeralt. Rhea is responsible, she didn’t tell anyone the truth about Sitri, not even her closest friends.
@@maxrichards3881 That isn't the problem. He may have taken being just friends well, but he still was sort of a simp/white knight and prioritized resurrecting Sitri at the cost of everyone and everything else. Of course, Rhea's duplicity did not help matters, and that would take a whole essay or even term paper to untangle.

Gotta say, nothing in this game put the fear of god in me quite like looking at the map and seeing only one enemy.
10/10, would Umbral Beast again.
You know, all jokes aside, it's a bit sad that anytime an antagonist tries to bring back the love of their life back from the dead, many of the fandom almost immediately play the "simp" card and means it. I mean, I get it, the whole plan was stupid from the start and going through with it "at any cost" is a really bad mindset. And, yeah, this character trope is used quite often, but some people seem to forget that at the core, "love" isn't called one of the strongest emotions without reason. And I think Aelfric truly loved Sitri, even if it was unrequited, calling her "his world". That does often lead to being blind to literally anything else.
It's not so much that he wanted the love of his life back from death. It's because he wants her back even when Sitri wanted nothing else with him that we call Aelfric a simp. Because that "bring my beloved back from the dead" motive had already been done in Sacred Stones with Orson, and he doesn't have the same reputation as Aelfric.
I don't think Aelfric is the best written character the series has ever produced. He lacks a consistent tone, and I saw his twist coming a mile away. Something about this song though, combined with his simple appearance makes him really memorable to me. It sounds like a warped funeral song, lamenting the morbid end of a misspent life. Aelfric was once a good man who's corruption came not from some outside force, but his own repressed desires. No one forced him down this path, it was all from his own mistakes.
Something about that bums me out in just the right way and keeps me coming back to this song. Especially after he made a cameo in the main story not as an enemy, but as a friend wishing the best for you and Jeralt. It makes me thankful that the DLC is more of a "what if" scenario than something that is squeezed into the main plot, and it makes me love this song as much as Indomitable Will and Apex of the World.
Yeah, I saw Aelfric, & was like "Yeah, I don't trust you, not in the slightest. You're evil, & I 100% know it."
Is the DLC really worth $25? I just went and spoiled the music for myself since i dont hav enuff money. I think i might even watch a playthrough.

Not in a bad way but Aelfric is basically FE Snape. And to be honest I think Aelfric was pretty genuine in his kindness, he just had a massive agenda, if you compare him to other tragic characters in FE like Arvis or Berkut I find him much more reasonable… hell Aelfric is more reasonable than even Crimson Flower Rhea for crying out loud.
Anyways this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
You are not wrong tho
Both have the same problem of not being able to move past the past, so they do everything in power to bring back their loved ones
I mean, kinda. Aelfric is not really a great guy due to his goal being absolutely nuts abd at the detriment of everyone, but his basic motivation is understandable. It is likely that Sitri was his only real friend and her passing away must have been incredibly heartbreaking. To find her body in unnaturally preserved condition years later, coupled with Rhea just naturally being sus is a logical reason to become beyond distrusting.
This music, along with the fight being in the cathedral, makes for an eerie and oddly thrilling fight.
God this final boss was so hard everyone was near death at the end
Really I thought some of the other levels were harder
This theme will forever haunt me due to the fact
That this was the first time I ever lost in any fire emblem game ON NORMAL (not counting FE: heros)
Like I really had to sit up in my seat. Step outside for air, shower, and pace around my house to figure out how to beat alferic. Cause I was so dumbfounded
Edit: (Only took one retry to nail it down but even that was a struggle and only won by praying the 11-33% crits hit)
All simp jokes aside, I'm not quite sure what to feel about Aelfric. There's part of me that wants to feel bad for him, but doesn't, and then another part that doesn't feel bad for him, but wants to. He honestly seemed like a good person before he found Sitri's body, but he was completely irredeemable after all he did. I feel sad thinking about how he could have had a much happier ending had he dealt with his sorrow in a healthier way and not tried to bring Sitri back by killing the Ashen Wolves.
I mean the tragedy is pretty apparent when you consider that none of this would have happened if Rhea didn't deny her favourite creation Sitri her humanity and did not disturb her final slumber.
As you said he seemed to have done fine until he discovered Sitri's body, virtually unblemished by time. I can sympathise with his resentment and confusion and still hate him for what he tried to do to his charge in the Ashen Wolves.
@@SophiaLilithUwU Exactly. The tragedy comes from what could have been, rather than what was. By the game, he was a total monster, but the situation was so easy to avoid.
@@SophiaLilithUwU Eh the only thing Rhea fucked up in this story was using the Abyss as a Crypt for her daughter should have stashed the body somewhere else.
Aelfric though was planning to resurrect a kind gentle life loving woman by sacrificing innocents and even her own child if it came to it. I mean did he even think that plan through? Sitri would have hated him if he succeeded.
@@AxeCrazyAutobot She also could have buried her properly like Jeralt thought she did instead of putting her in a freezer.
Put that is what being immortal and seeing everybody you care about die does to you.
@@SophiaLilithUwU Well I can't exactly blame her for not wanting to put her daughter figure in the ground though.
when the roach starts flying
The dead should be left to rest.
It would’ve been sick to see Aelfric in the wolves’ paralogue in Three Hopes instead of what we got being Constance blowing up an entire cave system lmao
Come to think of, how tf Jeralt missed Sitri's existence for so long?
Jeralt was Rhea's proto-Catherine for a century.
Unless Sitri popped into existence as a grown girl... Damn, Rhea is outrageously good at keeping secrets (until she is triggered) - to hide from one of her most devout followers she made a daughter and still let them marry. Or... Damn, I'd like to see how tf that happened
Rhea's experiments with creating a Sothis vessel were done in extremely top secret, virtually no one knew about it. Sitri was around 20 years of age when she and Jeralt met and no one truly knew exactly what her origins were. Yes, Rhea is just that good at keeping that a secret: so much so that even Seteth had no idea she was creating Sothis vessels behind the scenes (this is why he was so suspicious of Rhea when she appointed Byleth as a professor immediately even though they were seemingly a stranger, even though Rhea in truth knew everything about them).
@Wisdom Right and he looked so offended
Sitri was confirmed long before the release of the Cindered Shadows Side Story to be Rhea's 12th attempt at making a vessel for Sothis in the Silver Snow route. Day and month are never specified but Sitri's headstone reads the years 1139-1159. Meaning she died tragically young at the age of 20. Rhea has this habit of keeping secrets. So, it's within the realm of possibility for Sitri to have been given life in 1139 without anyone knowing. Since Sitri's cover for her presence was a nun, no one else would be none the wiser. Placing a failed attempt at a goddess vessel in the role of a nun in a monastery is the equivalent of hiding a tree in the forest.
Story got so good once the betrayal started
Sitri was only 20/21 when she died.
Jeralt had taste
At what cost, did you desecrate my mother's tomb?
At what cost, did you disturb my mother's rest?
At what cost, did you betray the people who trusted you?
At what cost, did you desecrate my mother's body?
At what cost.... did you become this horrific beast?
...the people who adored you as "savior", the prospects of your pupils...how many did you trample upon? How many dreams did you exchange for this moment? No matter what it takes...I SHALL BRING YOU TO JUSTICE!
Cringe
*screeching starving artist in the background*
Stuff like this really makes me wish Byleth had more speaking moments
is that a yusuke reference?
@@kosmic100 yes it is (the last part)
Thank God you added it. The only other upload with this quality was 30 minutes long.
The superior version
The irony of the whole situation is that Aelfric wanted to restore an innocent life that was lost only for it to blow up in his face. His lack of insight as to why the Rite of Rising failed when Saint Seiros tried it caused Byleth's mother, Sitri, to be lost a second time.
I just got to ask one question
WHY IS THIS FINAL BOSS MUSIC SO DAMN GOOD
Idk
Me: I want Lyon
Mom: we have Lyon at home
Lyon at home:
Give Lyon some credit here. Aelfric isn't even possessed by the incarnation of evil, he's just a simp
Fire Emblem Warriors plot is near enough the same as Sacred Stones.
@CaptainHeckYeah that reminded me that I never finished Warriors lmao.
Cringe.
@@CallumTheCalamity Except they tried to merge both routes and the Ephraimroute-side of things ruined it.
Surprised at the lack of “I’ve won, but at what cost?” Jokes lol
It took me close to 2 hours and expending the majority of my divine pulses to kill that thing.
You know what? This song could have been used on Blue Lions last chapter. I mean, Edelgard uses the power of her two crest to transform into Hegemon Edelgard - a monster - so as well as this poor guy transforms into the Umbral Beast.
Honestly think it would have fit better in CF since it could describe both Edelgard and Rhea.
Nah Apex of The World was perfect for Azure Moon’s final battle.
I disagree my thoughts are that he didn’t know what he would become. Edelgard willingly transformed herself to that beast, he didn’t. He did bring Sitri back in a way but “At What Cost”
@@pearsemolloy9656 Nah this would've been better.
Nah. Apex of the World signifies strongly with Edelgard.
the only bad thing about this theme is that it doesn't loop perfectly
This song still is unbelievably good to me. Love it entirely and when the violin comes in makes it perfect.
Ashe was my freaking MVP this fight, Linhardt a close second with his heals. Go, this was such a challenging fight.
Dimitri MVP of all DLC Story and Edelgard stays back because is so heavy xD
This piece is beautiful.
I don't know if it's just me, but I found Sitri, Jeralt, and Aelfric's relations to Byleth to be super tragic.
Sitri died for Byleth.
Jeralt died because of Byleth.
Aelfric died by Byleth's hand.
I have a ton of the three houses music all from your channel on my music playlist on here, so I really hope none of it gets deleted. Previously, most of my three houses music on my playlist was from another channel called DestinyFateKnight, but not too long ago that whole channel got deleted along with the music from my playlist. I was really disappointed but I’m happy you have everything and I really hope you don’t get deleted ever. Thank you so so much for uploading all of this!
If the ashen wolves was it’s own route, Jeralt better not die and actually be a playable unit
him and Orson would be good friends
I used this theme about two years ago as the second-to-last-boss' theme in my DnD campaign. Good shit.
Lyrics: OOOOOO OO OoooooOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOHOHOOOOOOOO OOOOO HAAA HHAAA HHA HOOOO HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HOOOOHHAAA HOOO AAH HHOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO HOOOOOO HOOOO HOO OHOHAAH HHOAAAHOO OO OO HHHOOOOO AaAAAHHH OOOHHHHH AAHH OOHHH OOO AAA
The part starting at 2:21 is my favorite.
You can hear the Leitmotif of Legend of the Chalice.
Does anyone else think it would've been incredible to have a single scene with Byleth being able to talk to a revived Sitri? It would be short, a single conversation but I imagine it would also break my heart
What if there's a rock/metal version of this in Three Hopes in a Church route where he is one of the villains? Imagine by then he is only a boss if you have Byleth and Jeralt and Jeralt is horrified and angry at Aelfric finding Sitri and becoming the Umbral Beast with her. Imagine Byleth actually having dialogue where he/she feels a stir in their heart over seeing Sitri for the first time. Rhea would be on the field as a playable character and she would be just as horrified at what Aelfric has done. I wish there was a crazier Church route in general where instead of putting up with Edelgard's bullshit war, you instead side with the Church of Seiros and deal with the Agarthans, Nemesis, and Aelfric. Something unique.

When you see Aelfric pop up in the main game for that one week at Sitri's grave and you're like -
*'Ahhhhhhh, so the Simp has returned, aye?'*
honestly i think this wouldve suited the fight against Hegemon Edelgard more, God Shattering star against Rhea in CF, and Apex Of The World for Nemesis
Byleth joined the killed-one-of-my-parents-club.
Other members are Alm, Robin and Corrin
Just realized that the bit starting at 2:20 is just the main theme in inverse harmony.
This is Toby Fox levels of reusing leitmotifs.
