    Seen Bowie 9 times, met him twice. He was a musical genius and so ahead of the times. Truely a major artist in the history of music.

      I bow to you. He was everything and everywhere and I never had the gift of meeting him but his music and performances still effect my life today.

    I wish McCartney and Bowie would get together and let the poetry fly, I couldn't wear socks for days.

    David Bowie is the greatest musician of all time and has had more influence on music than anyone else in the universe. He is a rock n roll messiah

    I would say Bowie was the pinnacle of humanity...but, not sure he was human, he seemed divine.

      How can you even compare the two men? Keep in mind that gary numan is a fantastic keyboardist and guitarist. He has also created his own style. Although being a fan of bowie, he has by no means attempted to consciously emulate anyone else. He is also a very good studio engineer and pilot. This bowie track is very good musically but what s a tvc -15?

      It's a CVD -19 that got scrambled in transmission / transition as DB tapped it from the ether ;-j

    Your wrong I have the first 2 albums of newman when they first came out and he is nowhere close to Bowie.Gary Newman's music died after that second album wasn't that good.He was a bowie fan thats why he tried to look like him.

    i wasnt there. my understanding is that iggy was delusional on several substances raving that the tv set swallowed his girlfriend. Bowie wrote the song. merseyboys has uploaded the Elvis version which fits perfectly. It's an Elvis song, written for the rock god's rock god.considering all the losses lately...lou reed and bb king, I think that every day we should wake up and be glad that bowie is still here, loving iman and making amazing music. thanks Mr Bowie for making our worlds so much richer and fantastic. UNESCO needs to make you a world heritage figure.

      +Mihr Anael I had always heard it was one of the songs he wrote for "The Man Who Fell to Earth," not knowing he wasn't going to be expected to do the soundtrack.

      Im afraid that is not possible anymore... Even if he was alive, David was coked out of his mind during the Station to Station period - he did not remember how the album was recorded.

    Can anyone explain what the meaning of this cryptic song is???

    • @quasar1490
      @quasar1490 9 років тому +2

      In a nutshell it's about a demonic t.v. set that swallows Bowie's girlfriend then transitions Bowie into contemplating joining the girl in the demon set's 'Rainbow Way' - the aethers of t.v. signal processing. Heavy lyrical content - especially for 1976.

    • @quasar1490
      @quasar1490 9 років тому +1

      That 'Poop' reply is wrong. Sid never became friends with Bowie. This song was released in 1976. Sid was barely known by punk fans at this point let alone Bowie.

      Don't believe everything you read. Wikipedia is a public trust forum. Anybody can post information there. Especially if the info has no automatic legal repercussions. And rock magazines are notorious for inventing fabulous gossip. Anyways - in 1976 while Sid was desperately trying to learn how to play the bass guitar ( which he never did ) for 'The Sex Pistols' Bowie was touring America on his 'Thin White Duke' tour. And he was heavily addicted to cocaine and only hung with other cocaine users and high drug profile rock stars ( Iggy Pop, Keith Richards, John Lennon, etc...). You had to be rock royalty or have mega bucks or a righteous coke connection in order to be in Bowie's hip inner circle at this time. All the punks of 1976 were broke and looked down on rock super star drug taking. They liked the cheap stuff. Speed, alcohol, and later on, when some of them had a few bucks, heroin. From America Bowie went straight to France and then Berlin to start working on his 'Low' album. Wikipedia can eat it.
