Correct the main thing is that the problem is diagnosed. The only problem might be proprietary fuse types but another comment mentioned meeting the guy who worked at an aeroplane shop that made bicycles who might be able to source it from JHB. Also another comment mentioned using the bike shop guy privately. He can give exact details of the fuse to give to the Joburg chap and install as well with pleasure. Frustrating yes but there still are options Yves. 🍀
A fuse blows for a reason, usually a fault in the circuitry ahead of the fuse. A shorted capacitor or a failed MOSFET will blow a fuse. Sure it would be easy to change the fuse but if the original fault is still there, the new fuse will blow too.
Identify the type of fuse required. By a number of them ( fuses are cheap). Place the fuse and start the battery. If the fuse blows up again, then hunt for the component or the path that is causing the short. Replace, order or put an equivalent of that part ( can be sourced from other appliances ) then you will be good to go in hours or a day or two days.

Hi Kino, try to consult Electro Tech Namibia. They might diagnose the issue as well. I have taken an APC UPS there for assistance. They are in the Southern Industrial area.
You could also bypass the fuse by jumping it simple to do (a bit of a risk) . The internal fuse is probably available at any automotive shop ( flat fuse I think) . Batteries from any other model can be swapped over as long as they fit inside the case yours is probably 48 volt 13 AH . Always a good idea to carry extra fuses.
The fuse may be on the BMS board(fuses are not only conventional car type. Could be fusible resistor etc). Some BMS units have to be firmware reset after a repair. Many manufacturers do not make the programming software (or the leads) available. Important to note: fuses very rarely "blow" for no reason. You should watch a few videos of “electronic repair school”, you will soon understand that electronics is actually not that scary, the fuse is simply a thin wire that you could have just soldered on as a quick fix for your issue. Given that’s a hefty battery pack and well you’re basically sitting on it, it would be best to replace with the rated fuse (or proper calibrated wire 😂) at some point. As a German I know this kind of attitude, sticking to the rules 100% no matter what, even if ones actions become illogical. And I find it very frustrating. As for the Ebikes4Africa management (not the workers) refusing to help you in this situation is just sh*t. Also refusing to speak to you in person seams unreasonable, I mean their project/company could relay benefit if they appeared in a positiv manner in your video. Anyway good luck on your journey and save travels. ♥
I'd say this level of narrow-mindedness is rare in Germany today. But the Namibian Germans' ancestors came over from Prussia in the 19th century. I wonder if it's a remnant of that culture...
Rochling03😂😂🤣Loved that joke..But I believe Germans atleast in Germany these days are not that narrow minde which is why millions of refugees were allowed into that country..As an Indian, I feel Europeans (and Westerners generally) are exhibiting a tolerance level of immense level by allowing people from third world countries to come there and enjoy the first world privileges..
I'm a traveler myself, but I can admit I've never done anything as awe-inspiring as what you're doing, crossing East Africa on an E-bike. Very impressive! Sometimes when traveling, I experience a frustrating situation like you're in this video. I used to get crazy, angry, and frustrated. Over the last couple of years, I’ve started treating these situations as the travel Gods testing me to see how I react. I’ve found that rolling with the punches makes my life a lot easier than pushing against the wall in anger or frustration. We are blessed to travel, even in the most absurd, frustrating situations! You handled it very respectfully-move on with one battery and go with the flow. Best of luck, brother!
Why just not changing the fuse yourself (would need a voltmeter and a soldering iron I assume) or go to an electromechanic and ask to change the fuse. When you know what the problem is the solution is a peace of cake.
Understand the frustration, but given this is a battery problem, not really a bike-specific problem, you probably would have more luck going to an electrician or electronic repair shop. They have the tools and probably an equivalent fuse in stock (no need for shimano branded 😅)
Let us remember one thing. Health and safety is the core factor of this issue. Batteries are not easy to repair unless it is done in the original factory. Badly repaired batteries can cause fire or explosion which could be fatal or cause damage and that will have a negative impact on the reputation of the company that did the repairs or could possibly entail liability. This is what everybody is trying to avoid, without admitting the fact that they do not have the capacity to repair this item to the factory level. I would advise you to buy a new battery, no matter how long it takes, for your own safety. Sorry about the inconvenience and confusion caused by the local dealers and staff.
I would ask guys from small electric repair shops. Many of these guys are really talented in Africa. I'm sure some of them could even build a complete new battery for you. 😂

We call them FUNDIs (technicians). The only honest technician is the barber because they don't give you excuses or even promise to fix your problem "tomorrow". They do it instantly. The worst happen to be tailors and carpenters. They will tell you to go after a week to find your product done, but when you arrive there is when they start. 🇰🇪
No ,even the babar is no longer the honest artisan. You are talking about when they were using razor blades and manual hair clippers . Today you can go home with half of your hair not clipped due to electricity outage or machine malfunction.
it happens when a company gets sued, so they choose NEVER to help someone. you can imagine if the battery caught fire and someone got burnt and your company was trending on tiktok
That's why I love Nairobi. Such issues kenyans have already embraced and you will find several outlets could easily sort you out. If you don't get it in Jo burg, find it in Cairo if not Cairo Nairobi will sort it out. If you miss it in Nairobi cancel the journey 😂
U got robbedwith ak. Your bike sabotaged and thrown rocks at you but a guy who probably has a contract that doesn't allow him to repair your battery is the thing that makes u judge a whole nation. Incredible
you're right. the shop most likely doesn't have the required certifications. could have some serious consequences if he repairs it without having the certs, and some wrong person finds out. its bad, but serious "western" shops usually work this way. But that's probably only known by people who are into "tech" stuff.
It is frustrating that in this day and age gatekeepers can be as narrow minded and limiting just because they can. Then stop branding yourself in ways you cannot deliver. I really sympathize with Yves, and I hope everything eventually turns into a success story ❤
I have a solution for you if you havent tried it. Just deal with the technician directly off duty. He will fix it for you and pay him direct . Nothing related to the shop. Fuse is super easy just check the rating i.e. 5 amps or whatever is written in top and get a fuse from a car mechanic .
It can usually be something simple. If the fuse is gone, the battery will not charge-this is with my battery. I remember I was stranded once in Europe and my motorbike stopped. I panicked and utilized an expensive mechanic. The problem was essentially a dirty spark plug - a small sliver of metal was bridging the spark. A simple clean was the solution.
Thank you Yves for the first time I learnt much more from you This touching ,bloody and heartbreaking history of Namibia ; nama, herero against Germany is truly reminding what our ancestors faced Apart from that I learnt how diverse African tribes survive Hats off and kudos to YOU

If ebike4africa designed and engineered their own bike's I would understand why they would only want to work on their own products. But truth is they buy in bulk from China and ask the manufacturer to engrave their company logo onto the bikes. And plus their ridiculously overpriced. I buy Ebike's in bulk from China and have them shipped to Canada after importing fee's I sell the bikes for about $900 to $1,200 Canadian which is about $9,000/$12,000 Namibian dollars and it's still way cheaper then what their charging. Ebikes4africa should've been upfront with this person and declined to work on his battery. But instead they decided to give him the run around and tried to even get him to buy a new from them that's shady business

Yes, some French people can be very rude. It is linked to how people are educated in France. Such behaviors are often linked to cultural patterns. For example, in France, as a child, you are told to fear strangers, so as an adult, you will be less likely to help strangers. In most parts of Africa, when you are a kid, you see adults talking with no shame and no inhibition to strangers, so as an adult you will be more likely to talk to strangers and you will be more likely to be willing to help strangers.
Just STOP badmouthing a hard working Namibian company who has given their all over the past 8 years to bring made in Namibia ebikes to the country. The worker actually proposed me to bypass the fuse, but he was not able to replace the fuse on his own, probably no spare parts. I found bypassing the fuse too risky...
So unreasonable of the boss. That is complete nonsense. In my experience, some of the business owners in southern Africa are so unfriendly and have zero care for customers.
The only person that screws the French guy must be a German 😂 Sorry, honestly that sucks and I can assure you I would have helped you. Greetings from Cologne, Germany 🇩🇪
Simply go online, check for air freight sources available to Windhoek and order a battery from an location outside of Namibia and have it air frighted, to you overnight, it will take quite a few calls, the battery will be cheap but the freight will be expensive. For repair, do not think of it as a bike battery, think of it as broken electronics, so a skilled electronics repair store could fix it for you.
Guys as much as you are frustrated, you have to also understand that some of these shops have exclusive contracts with their suppliers and they can get in trouble if they work on certain brands especially brands they don't know. Customers will always be customers, the some way Kino is making a video criticizing a shop not want to work on a battery is the some way he will make one if they f * up his battery more
I am sure the battery was good Yves…most likely the vibrations especially going over rumble strips shook off either your main positive or negative lead to the battery itself…it is a circuit…either the red wire shook lose or the black one did……when you unhoused it nothing looked warped or discolored….you will be able to fix this in the future no doubt!..stay safe and keep posting.

Man, I totally understand your frustration. But as a German I would assure you that, while we very much like rules, we also make exceptions if necessary. Thats why we have rulebooks that are so big. Because we mostly also cover all possible exceptions as well. So maybe the dude is of German descend, but he is still a Namibian.
Там проблема скорее всего в одной батарее из общего числа, которая вышла из строя, поэтому bms просто отключает питание. Продавцы батарей сами тебе нвйдут а может быть даже починят. Есть много гайдов и туториал как это все чинить.
Your focus on using a bicycle repairshop is almost as narrowminded as the german boss. any repairshop that deals with electric applianses like radio repair ect. could get the fuse needed and repair your battery. and i bet the worker at the shop could have done the repair at home without involving the boss and the shop. there are many possible solutions that you dont seem to have the imagination to consider.

Find an Auto electrician shop in Windhoek. They will be able to replace the fuse. If they don't have one, they will make one for you
Sorry about your bike man. Like watching your videos
Foreigner living in Germany.. the attitude, I bow down!!
@@billcurtis7476 Then Germans are the same as Chinese🙃
I'd say this level of narrow-mindedness is rare in Germany today. But the Namibian Germans' ancestors came over from Prussia in the 19th century. I wonder if it's a remnant of that culture...
@@milkenjoyer14 in my experience it's still very common in Germany. Sticking to the rules over anything and glorifying them.
Wat a satisfying & comforting remark!
Thank you!
Why just not changing the fuse yourself (would need a voltmeter and a soldering iron I assume) or go to an electromechanic and ask to change the fuse. When you know what the problem is the solution is a peace of cake.
It can't be done by anybody by electronic repair guys.
Also to find out why the fuse blew up in the first place; cause the other battery's fuse might be blown by the same cause
Namibia,Botswana,Kenya... For me the best countrys in the Africa...
Kenya is shit and people are shit. For me best is Namibia , Botswana , Sambia and Rwanda.
and Zambia
Kenya is a dust bin with skyscrapers

And Zimbabwe
Sorry for that Kino Yves. Watching from 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
I would ask guys from small electric repair shops. Many of these guys are really talented in Africa. I'm sure some of them could even build a complete new battery for you. 😂

Germans with very complex rules. So sad you didn't get the help. Good luck with everything Yves 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Kino the best
Wow. Yves, I think you are remarkably restrained, given the circumstances. I think I'd be ready to explode. I see from another poster you somehow resolved the problem and are well on your way north. You are unstoppable. Can't wait to see how it all unfolded. Wishing you the best of luck.
I thought it's a ugandan perspective of those categories of people.. but ehh everywhere
@twesigyedidas5024 we are one people. 😂
No ,even the babar is no longer the honest artisan.
You are talking about when they were using razor blades and manual hair clippers .
Today you can go home with half of your hair not clipped due to electricity outage or machine malfunction.
Hopefully everything get sorted can wait to see you on the road i will be traveling to SOUTH maybe like 5 times this holiday
German vs French: How do I have a feeling that this is WWII re-enacted 😆😆
Keep the good work, and thanks for choosing Namibia to show case it to the world
Morning ma frends ❤️ from germany
Boy, your frustration is very understandable, Ives. Just really hard to comprehend how people can behave in such a manner!
it happens when a company gets sued, so they choose NEVER to help someone. you can imagine if the battery caught fire and someone got burnt and your company was trending on tiktok
That's why I love Nairobi. Such issues kenyans have already embraced and you will find several outlets could easily sort you out. If you don't get it in Jo burg, find it in Cairo if not Cairo Nairobi will sort it out. If you miss it in Nairobi cancel the journey 😂
Tell him. there's no shop in Nairobi where they will say they can't or don't have; even if they can't or don't have, they will "can" and "have"
אין עליך קינו . you are the best
Morning my friends.
Hey Kino, so sorry about your battery. Hope you get help soonest. Wishing you well from 🇰🇪
You haven't met the rudest one yet😂.

Don’t forget In Africa, we experience a unique blend of emotions shaped by our diverse cultures, traditions, and challenges.
U got robbedwith ak. Your bike sabotaged and thrown rocks at you but a guy who probably has a contract that doesn't allow him to repair your battery is the thing that makes u judge a whole nation. Incredible
I can't remember him saying anything bad about the country you didn't understand him.
I think it's the French have a reputation for being rude not the germans
Yeah maybe I misunderstood anyway I don't care to much but yeah maybe the guy was just a jerk. Love the videos
you're right.
the shop most likely doesn't have the required certifications.
could have some serious consequences if he repairs it without having the certs, and some wrong person finds out.
its bad, but serious "western" shops usually work this way.
But that's probably only known by people who are into "tech" stuff.
Go to China town..they will repair it
AZUB needs to sponsor your trike battery too.
That battery's expected charge cycle is 1000 times.. maybe it's about time to replace.
Spec: 1000 charge cycles (above 60% of capacity). Battery capacity drops after years of use.
Yeah, but the battery is Shimano, not Azub...
@@KinoYves AZUB doesn't make a battery. Their trike comes with Shimano battery as standard.
I wish you all the best ahead Kino
Why didn't you just buy the fuse and install it?
Good question. Even the TV repair guys can do it.
french guy low key seems up himself even though he comes across friendly on camera
Oh my so sorry you are having such a hard time with these shops ❤
Find a shop that works on electric cars, batteries use basically the same technology or find and electronics repair shop.
Thank you Yves
for the first time
I learnt much more from you
This touching ,bloody and heartbreaking history of Namibia ; nama, herero against Germany is truly reminding what our ancestors faced
Apart from that I learnt how diverse African tribes survive
Hats off and kudos to YOU
Most mzungus are just not humble
Sorry you went thru that Yves. May your cvhallenges be few and those you have overcome
Kenyans are always the first to watch
A few months ago I started binge watching this channel so much so that I had to unplug altogether. Fast forward, here I am again stressing over a battery. 😂
the bike shop: too expensive, they dont want the liability and figured it might be a scam. thats not that uncommon. you dont take a ferarri to a renault dealer......... same thing
You do if that's the only one in the entire country. Problem with common sense is its not common.
@@Dr.Mzungu no. when you own a business you view things differently. its really not worth touching a lot of thins. may you one day own your own company and understand. ive been at it for 15 years.......
Accept it brother! when you become settle down in it an solution will arrive and it ll be a better thing ..something is happening for you there is a blessing in the making we still dont know what it is! stay positive.
Morning Kino still following you
It has nothing to do with nationality, I have also met rude French people.
You're unfairly going on a jihad against good people. Sheesh. Be a man, buck up and move on. Be a decent human. People's jobs are getting put at risk because of your unfair rant.
Hi Kino, nice video. 😊😊
You should have risked getting help from the worker after work, since you were already willing to take then risk, he might have helped. Sorry mate
The worker actually proposed me to bypass the fuse, but he was not able to replace the fuse on his own, probably no spare parts.
I found bypassing the fuse too risky...
@@KinoYves I get it, sorry man
So unreasonable of the boss.
Contact someone in Kenya they can have the battery
Sad but all the best I feel you 😢

Guys as much as you are frustrated, you have to also understand that some of these shops have exclusive contracts with their suppliers and they can get in trouble if they work on certain brands especially brands they don't know. Customers will always be customers, the some way Kino is making a video criticizing a shop not want to work on a battery is the some way he will make one if they f * up his battery more
brands....uh
Brother please ask, people just watching this video where are form them!
Good luck am already addicted with your all Episodes
From rwanda 🇷🇼 🇷🇼🇷🇼🇷🇼🇷🇼🇷🇼🇷🇼
I am sure the battery was good Yves…most likely the vibrations especially going over rumble strips shook off either your main positive or negative lead to the battery itself…it is a circuit…either the red wire shook lose or the black one did……when you unhoused it nothing looked warped or discolored….you will be able to fix this in the future no doubt!..stay safe and keep posting.
As a German, I have to say, the rules have to be followed by any means. Even death or life doesn' t play a role.
Leuke vlog Yves laat je niet klein krijgen je spreek altijd goed over andere maar er zijn ook verkeerde bij 👍👍💏
It's bullshit. I know the owners of the company and Kino is lying. Flat out lying.
Or the owners is.
Why would Kino lie ? What is in it for him to lie ? The owner on the other hand...
11:55 Another day another beggar. Its a shame how City of Windhoek has allowed these people to rule the streets. Its a nightmare walking Independence Avenue and Post Street Mall. Tourists become spectacles and beggars are normalized
Man, I totally understand your frustration. But as a German I would assure you that, while we very much like rules, we also make exceptions if necessary. Thats why we have rulebooks that are so big. Because we mostly also cover all possible exceptions as well. So maybe the dude is of German descend, but he is still a Namibian.
whaaaaaaaat😂
Your focus on using a bicycle repairshop is almost as narrowminded as the german boss. any repairshop that deals with electric applianses like radio repair ect. could get the fuse needed and repair your battery. and i bet the worker at the shop could have done the repair at home without involving the boss and the shop. there are many possible solutions that you dont seem to have the imagination to consider.
i dont think you have a full situation awareness of Kino in Namibia typing from your nordic couch...
Yeah he should do a side deal with that worker. Treat him like a free lancer. He can work on it after his work hours.
