Mixing, panning, polarizing and feedback - with Metabolic Devices Papomi

- Today we’re having a closer look at the Metabolic Devices Papomi! It’s a powerful swiss army knife for modular eurorack utilities. It works with audio and control voltages, and can be used as a mixer, attenuator, inverter, offset generator, panner and polarizer. But the combination of functions also make it really suitable for sonic experiments and feedback patches.
We go over the features and functions of the module, and then dive into a series of patches. From basic stereo panning, to more experimental drone and generative feedback patches.

It’s worth it :)
These overviews/tutorials should be industry standard. Thanks Monotrail I seem to always want to buy the module after you’ve overviewed it. Fantastic once again 👌👌👍
Thank you so much! Feel free to spread the word :) But I already feel pretty lucky to be aproached by some fanufacturers to demo their work. Relly enjoyed this one. Cheers!
I’m definitely keen to see more feedback patches! Thanks for the informative and easy to understand content. :)
Good to hear, I think I will work on that. And thanks! Cheers :)
Love the feedback patches, probably I´ll buy one to combine with my Jomox t rackonizer & peradam & samplers
Papomi is such a useful one.- You can also use it really nice as a a pseudo-VCA like stated in the manual. I'd wish I'd had a second one at hand. - I've grown to be a huge fan of Metabolic Devices in general and and still fiddle around with their modules everyday. I still hope for some skilled creators like you to demo their Moonwalker, which I also own and can recommend for an interesting approach to (mostly) modulation.
True! Really like the Papomi as well, keeps getting use in all sorts of patches. Glad to hear you enjoy their modules! Maybe I'll get my hands on a Moonwalker one day :) At superbooth 22 I understood they're working an a new multi functional VCO, will keep an eye out for sure.
Awesome video!
Thank you!
Just bought one after watching your video. Subscribed.
Hey, thats both nice to hear! Enjoy the module, it's really a great tool for a lot of intersting things :)
@@MonotrailTechTalk Any chance you will make a Metabolic Moonwalker video? I'm curious if it can make logarithmic attack and exponential decay envelopes or if it strictly linear. Thanks!
@@nickjones5641 Hi there! I would gladly do so, but that would be up to The friendly folks at Metabolic Devices ;) I had very pleasant contact with them though, so I hope we stay in touch for perhaps more future projects!
So much helpful, as always.. 🙏
Can you make a video about Envelopes..? MI Stages for example.?
I know there are a few on youtube but you can do it sooo much better to understand.. 😉 Greetings!
Hi there! Glad to hear it was helpful! And would love to, but don't own a MI stages unfortunately. I feel very lucky that a few companies have aproached me to do some reviews, Metabolic Devices, included :) But unfortunately can't buy all the modules I would like. The doepfer A143-2 quad ADSR is also still on my list. That could be a good moment to talk about basic envelope functions :) All the best!
@@MonotrailTechTalk 😊yesss that would be great! Thx alot!
such a useful interface to play a complex patch! I am just hoping that the attenuverters here have a dented zero at noon, I always find difficult to use a pot for mixing without the possibility to completely silence that channel
Hey, indeeed a super usefull tool! Unfortulately the attenuverters have no center dent. As far as I understand it, you won't find those easily in euroland, as they (the pots with center dent) are far less precise than you'd hope.
is the audio output stereo? so you can record two tracks?
The panner has two outputs, they can be used as a left and right output, as I do in the video.
Make a sample and hold vid
Nice timing! I've been working on that video this week, and will upload it this friday ;)
how could I close the stereo field instead of opening it like you do here ua-cam.com/video/5fwIyB23l3Y/v-deo.html?
Reduce the modulation to the panner. Then the input will come out of both outputs with the same strength.
