Windependence Concert Band - Master Level - Level 4
his high-energy setting of the Albanian tune Shota re-creates the festive mood of a raucous village dance. Lively and rhythmically infectious, this piece is sure to please musicians and audiences alike! This can also be performed effectively at a more moderate tempo.

This is such a fun piece for anyone in the front row. For the back row, might as well be canon in d on the Cello.
I played flute for this, so i can attest to that!😂
I played Euphonium for this, so I can attest to that!
I played 1st trumpet on this piece, I can also attest
as a tuba, i can unfortunately also attest to that :/
Played Toms and Cymbal. This piece was so fun back in districts.
Just love how Shelley Hanson writes. Especially in the piccolo part
Hate to say this, but the trombones don't get much....
i remember sitting in high school for spring concert, and thinking...
*did she really write THIRTY SECOND NOTES FOR THE PICCOLO?!*
I got to play piccolo on this! It was the absolute best!
@@briantopolewski5292 Yh but I feel like trombones weren’t necessarily needed
Shelly Hanson can eat a dick for how she writes low brass.
Just performed this song yesterday for all-region band. We sight read it that morning, rehearsed this and two other songs for 8 hours, and performed it that evening. I was playing the flute 2 part. Definitely a piece you need to really focus on the entire time you're playing, and very fun to play!
in gmea (georgia) we get 6.5 hours one day and 2.5hours and a concert the next.
I played timpani on this piece at an honor band and it’s pretty fun
That’s what I did this month lmao (sight-reading, 8 hour rehearsal w/ two other songs, and flute 2 part)
Yeah, we were definitely vibing here. Well, at least the percussion section was.
hahaha I'm currently playing 2nd percussion and it's so fun!
Interesting to hear this peace with other instruments than usual. Refreshing. Greetings from 🇦🇱
Getting the band to hit out the accents just right was a challenge but the piece just isn't "right" without them. Well worth the effort.
My band instructor switched me from flute, which I now have 8 years of experience on, to piccolo, which I have no experience on, and I enjoy this thoroughly.
Bros killing me with those tied notes rn
i'm on snare for this piece and the part goes legitimately hard
This piece has one of those 2nd alto saxophone parts I completely dig.
Joey Beller yes!!! we’re playing this in band right now and i have 2nd alto part and im in love with it
Yes it does, very excited for this but i've only been playing sax for a few months. I played clarinet first tho so sax came easily
Everyone: "This piece is sooo hard"
Me: *Laughs in Tuba Ba ba bas"
The call and respond sounds like a bee 🐝🐝🐝 Ima call our Saxs. Buzz Buzzs now.
We are doing this in band right now! It's awesome. I play the clarinet part and we have a lot of solos ☺️
Gavin Schulte same! I love the clarinet part!
Me too
I love it but we played it for an all county show and didn’t have too much time to practice so it was torture😂
I’m the only one in my Band who got First Flute!
Nice, good for you 😊
Despite the fact that I play 3rd clarinet I really enjoy it too 😁
Wow this is magnificent
I play horn on this piece, it’s very repetitive but it sounds awesome!
i play the bass clarinet and ik what you mean
Same here
I remember playing this my 7th grade year and we were the top middle school band in all of Georgia. Dang I miss those days
Riverwatch?
Dude y’all got the best 7th grade band ever made it yall can play this.
NIDDLE SCHOOL??????
SEVENTH GRADE?
playing this in middle school hits different
Damn I love this tune.
we just got this piece for wind ensemble and the xylophone part is so fun
1:07 trombones have me DEAD
Shelley Hanson Woooow Awesome , Thnx 👍
I play the contrabass clarinet, (playing the normal bass clarinet part), and I finally played the run at the end of the song perfectly.
I play bass clarinet, but do you have any tips on this piece?
we are playing this in band right now and i love it it’s awesome i play the tenor saxophone so its a bit challenging though but its still very fun
Yessss tenor part on this was so fun! I just played it in Colorado Mesa University’s Best of The West in the top band!
playing this for grade 8-11 honour band! i'm first clarinet and it's definitely tough. heard stuff like this many times since i'm albanian though
Greattt ❤️
Thank you from your Albanians 🇦🇱🇽🇰🩸❤️
I'm in grade 10 and we playing this in our school concert band
i'm in grade 11 and my school is doing this for wind ensemble! i play xylophone for it, what do you play?
I played timpani on this piece last week at an honor band. Such a fun piece
Dude we have to play this for symphonic band, it gets repetitive, as a French horn
Still kinda fun to play
Cry about it I played this in 7th grade 😤
On Xylo for this one! Super fun
Played this for middle school all state and it was 🔥
for real 🔥🔥 except for the fact i despise this song 🔥🔥🔥
@@w4tchdog. lol for us 1 and 2 clarinets it’s hell
Albanien hat die beste Musik Europas
My band 7/8 grade band played this pice, and I’m still shook
Burnt Breadstick I played 2nd flute in 7th grade and this song was so hard, now in 8th grade I’m doing 1st flute, and the song is way easier now then in 7th grade
I play 3rd cornet and it isn’t too hard the only difficult part is the cornet feature starting at measure 5
I played piccolo on this at a honor band and it is one of my fav picc parts I ever played
me too!! this was a piece i had always wanted to play in an ensemble and i finally got to! ON PICCOLO!! :)
balkan concert music going hard as always
I played this for a regional band on the flute. It was super fun (although very very fast) and it was pretty tricky to get it down in eight hours
Our Community Band recently performed it and did a pretty good job with it. Curious of how many euphonium players with a non compensating euphonium can play that run 5 from the end cleanly if using the 4th valve for C. That's the 1st time I used 1+4 for an alternate fingering Bb. Its almost like that run should really be for bari sax for example in that octave.
I'm in jazz band and the concert band I playing this. I just got the music for this and had to learn it in like 4 days and the concert is tonight. I think I Linda got it but wish us luck lol
im in 8th grade Flute playing this for LGPE, were also playing Fantasy on An African American Spiritual and Patton.
I am doing this for Wisconsin middle level state honors band
My highschools band is playing this me and one other person on tenor sax so it's fun
Catchy band song
I played this for my wind ensemble in school. #percussion
i love my country ALBANIA pergjithmone
@@oliviawoloshyn5824 thank you means a lot to us♥️♥️
Oh my god they just handed out this piece in band, im a flute, were gonna do this for 8th grade LGPE!! We have one poor Oboe and she gets really nervous on stage XD R.I.P Oboe.
I loved this. I played it for 9th grade district honor band on flute yesterday
It's much more reasonable played at 0.75 speed. It sounds much easier.
We played this in 8th grade ( hybrid 7th and 8th) and we played it full speed. It was torture.
after practice its not as scary as it looks
That’s the speed my band played it at
Ah 0:44 . . . my arch nemesis (i play f horn btw)
I'm leaving a comment, Deal with it Hannah!
Nerd
im doing this at semsba on flute or piccolo I cant wait im 1st chair 2nd flute
Matt Pelletier I'm doing SEMSBA too! My friend is 1st chair 1st seat flute. I'm 1st chair 2nd seat trombone. I'm so exciiiiiteeeeed!
Matt Pelletier sameeee
I’m in seventh grade and my band instructor expects me to play this on speed, I play saxophone btw
preforming this one Saturday at district 💯💯💯💯💯
Logan Phelps Hi for what school? Curie?
I go to south brunswick high school. It's in the south eastern district of NC
Logan Phelps Hard pice?
BarryNation the hardest part is keeping up the tempo but definitely a great peice for a good high school band. very groovy.
Logan Phelps I'm having trouble keeping up any help you can give me please
Imagine if Lin Manuel Miranda put words to this. That's how it feels playing the sax on this piece. 😱 It's insane! But at least you feel like you accomplished a huge task by the end. Oof!
This is it🫸🏾🫷🏾
Vallja e Shotes...Dance of Shota
I wonder how much money Shelley made when she stole this song and named it hers
@@SGWV she didn't made it hers, it's just her cover, you can see the name of the song Is called Albanian dance (vallja e shotes) we call it which means dance of shota, there is also a song called shota as well
this is way too hard for me😭😭😭
Band playing assignment this is where i need to reset to 1:01
how fast is this going
Need to reset here for playing assignment 1:01
Im a flute and its hard to do this it so fast
I agree but I loved playing this piece for my honour band it was so fun and we played at this speed, you should learn it.
this is not an ordinary flute ,it's an Albanian flute and it's much smaller than the other flutes, you won't make it with the flute you got
@@aaravos29 I did make it though. That was two years ago lmao. IT was hard but it was one of my favorite pieces that I've played. I don't think that the the teacher would give it to use flutes if it wasn't meant for us to play. We also had a piccolo playing aswell.
if you played this in 7th or 8th grade, they pushed you way too fast lol. This song is not meant for middle schoolers. Lol
Perfect cover for genshin impact sumeru trailer cover ngl
Bruhapps
i love the piece, but the snare drum part is awfully boring.
Kosovo je Serbia
Kinda boring, no?
