You explained the difference between the lures and the situations to use them. People will either get it or not. Some people simply do not listen and want everything easy or their way.
As a fellow SC resident I agree with you BLat. You'll catch em on the wacky all day around here but the fish you're looking for want something that gets to the bottom quick. Texas rig/Shaky head is the way to go during the spawn. I appreciate you sir keep making moves and doing your thing. We here in SC are proud of what you do.
Agree with your take on this subject, shaky heads get down quickly, but nail rigging a wacky rig also gets the bait down quickly ( insert a portion of a nail shank into the middle of the bait carefully keeping the balance intact ) Similar drop rate, giving the option for wacky when you still want to use it in the conditions you have mentioned. Always find ways to improvise and always keep your options open !
Sorry for finding your channel late. Thank you for telling the truth that nobody else wants to share. It’s especially true in South that we have a large population of spotted vs large mouth bass. You are not the one who just wants to sell us $2 a piece of hook, $3 a piece of plastic, or $50 a spool of line. Subscribed!
Just went through this yesterday. The shallows was empty so went out a little deeper. Started to get em on the wacky rig but it took forever to get down. So started throwing a chatterbait and slow rolled it. Hooked what looked like a 6 but my darn dog was sitting in the net. By the time I moved him the fish threw the hook. Two lessons learned. First go deeper like you said. Second be ready with the net. Darn dog lol
Yessir! Be aggressive my favorite fishing! Im gonna work the wacky rig a lot more this year(have a rod dedicated) but I don’t catch em on the wacky or shaky head 🤷🏾♂️
I didn't know you sold tackle until that comment about you wanting to sell more of your Ned rigs...they are definitely some of the best I've seen, especially the finesse bullets. @06:00 I was about to throw my net away...Really? That 1 hand fish grab was on some NBA type shyt for real!
Like you said, every body of water can be slightly different. But I truly appreciate you putting out all the experience and information. It is much enjoyed, please keep it up!!
Absolutely. Wacky rig is good for skipping docks and that’s all I use it for. Shaky head can stay in place better and the wind doesn’t effect it as much and that matters for bed fishing.
Hey Buddy, I wore them out on the 21, caught 45 on Ned Rig. I am loving your videos on these subjects. We will be fishing Hartwell on May 14. Come on out and fish with us, in your Kayak. I truly need the points so I'm looking at every video, map, etc, and yes all these bait choices. Wood love to go fishing with ya on the yaks, that's pretty much all I do.
At first I was goin to say whaoo Brian, then I listened and agree totally,I fish Cal and this time of year at Clear Lake the beds are easy to find and I'll use a white 3/8 jig and white tail,it just pisses them off,I see an open patch in the reeds, maybe a little shade splash a weightless wacky right in the middle,I got an 8-3 in an anglers choice tournament that way,1250.was a good fish, great show
Your right on B, personally I like a Texas rigged lizard green pumpkin or black 3/16 tungsten, pegged. Usually they eat the lizard instead of just carrying it out of the bed. Lizards eat the eggs, daddy ain’t gonna have that the killer instincts take over I think lol. Good luck B thanks peace and God Bless
I appreciate that you give so much insights on your fishing , your baits, and how to use them Brian. There's no secret to any lake, river, pond, boat launch area that would give you, or any other angler the edge to catching big fish. Keep doing what you do, and your blessings will come, because you "share", and not hold things secret. Your fishing career will progress. Your success will come from your honesty, openness, and knowledge of the sport of Bass Fishing!
I agree with you! I have never caught anything on one. I have tried to add weight and nothing. Nothing better than a jig!! Bass will follow that jig tell they get it....
No offense, sinking a wacky is not the hardest thing in the world. And you really should change the title of the video. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Spot on live up here near Lewis smith lake. Drop shot or shaky head just seems to aggravate them more. Whacky is almost too finesse. Don’t understand why people would follow u and the debate in the comments. Keep it coming!
Ewww Lawd, Brian i love this channel, but the Wacky worked this weekend and water was 64 here in Va. Buttt, i'm picking your shakey head up this evening, because it works too! Can't have to much equipment! Tightlines man!
just received one of my new favorite rods the balance series with the free rod sleeve. Paired with a revo x 7:1:1. the rod is a 7 foot m h it feels wonderful. Have another one in 7'3 mh on the way will pair with a pro max. Thanks Brain for your advice think i will love them. and probably going to order a white bird to pair with another pro max. You are one of my favorite you tubers keep up the good work
Same thing happens in fly fishing. Anglers get hung up on dry flies on the surface. But 90% of a trout's diet is underwater, in the lower third of the column. So why are you casting a #20 mayfly when you haven't seen a riser in hours? Sure, you'll get one to rise and take every now and then, but...
Hater’s gonna hate, As a fan and angler I appreciate the knowledge you share. Your passion and drive for the sport are inspiring, thank you for sharing your tips with us. It helps make those in the community that want to learn better and build confidence. What’s the worst that could happen get skunked, wouldn’t be the first time. Better to keep an open mind and learn from shared experience. Thank you for making me a better angler.
Any pointers on the Northern bass's preferred temperature window for the spawn?? Like the Saint-Lawrence for exemple. Thanks Brian, good down to earth infos as usual!
I like to wrap my hook with lead tape gets the wacky rig down there quicker.. and i don't have to change to a flick shake. Produces a ton of good bites when they are staged a little bit deeper.
What would you say about fishing uo North? I'm in Rhode Island. It's still chilly over here. I woukd probably have to say that the water has to be maybe low 50's. Possibly high 40's. If I were to guess. I actually tied on a wacky rig today. But didn't throw it much. But I did try. Whatch-ya think B-Lat? Give me some ides. Happy Easter
Ooouuueeeee mr. controversy 😜👍🤷🏻♂️ I’m fishing in a club derby this weekend and I will be tossing my SMH jig and worms, and I wish ZMAN would try some tungsten 🤷🏻♂️ I know it’s mo money but I like it..🤷🏻♂️😎🍀🎣❤️🔥
Thanks for watching! Clickbait is something that misleading to actual content. I meant exactly what I said and the title said. I took time to explain why wacky rigs suck in the video.

i haven't watched the vid yet but God as my witness ive fished a wacky rig maybe 20 times in 30 yrs lol.. i always texas rig or use a jighead of sorts. here in NJ ive been on 🔥 with the reaction baits
That’s the truth. I fish predominantly smallmouth and from my experience you can catch on a wacky rig however it’s definitely a waste of time. When the spawn happens they are on the bottom. Why throw a wacky rig and waste the time when you know the fish are on the bottom.
Well JACOB!!!... lol 🤣HE DONT HAVE TO SELL ME HIS SMH HOOKS!!! cause to be honest they are already my favorite shaky head hooks so HATS OFF B Lat!!! I will be buying many more of your SMH SHAKY HEADS!!!🎣🎣🎣
I agree with this. Theres plenty of spotted bass in the lake I fish and they spawn around 5-7 foot. I also have a shakey head tied on. Whos caleb?? lol
if I'm hitting a bunch of targets I agree but if I have an area that I feel like is particularly high percentage I will throw the wacky rig because I feel like I am more likely to get bit on it. besides Brian you know a lot of times fish will sit right underneath dock floats warming up getting ready to spawn and a wacky rig is the right choice when that happens.
Man I tell you what, here in north texas the WR and shallow cranks are all ready hitting. Prob is for me the hook up ratio. Some big fish shake it off easy.
@@BrianLatimerFishing never caught one. All of mine have been lmb. For the record I mostly fish ponds large and small. Strippers and spots are sometimes found in certain lakes around here like. Texoma and rayroberts

There is a time and place for almost everything. Totally agree. I have to force myself this year to fish more shakey heads and Ned rigs.
So well stated. Your videos always make me wanna drop everything and go FISH!

I love your new SMH worms, I had a tournament on lake jocasse, and caught all my fish on it. and placed 3rd with 15.91 lbs
Congrats, nice bag!
Great point makes sense and I want to catch MORE fish thanks
Dang Kaleb he called you out brother...LOL.....you too Jacob LOL
Good advice. I really enjoyed this video and can agree and understand your reasoning behind the video.

I catch more fish on a wacky rig than ANYTHING but during spawn the ned is killer!

Makes good sense. Moot though since I live in a part of Ontario where it is illegal to bass fish during the spawn.
I caught my first bass on a wacky rig!! I disagree with this video 😂😂😂 Great video as always my brotha

Nothing wrong with adding weight to wacky to get it down faster if you’re fishing deeper. Swindle just did a video on this a few days ago.

Not Caleb 😂
The lakes where I'm at the fish are finicky. You have to fish slow and finesse most of the time, even during the busy time of the year.
So true 💯
The snow stuck to ground today water is still mid 30’s in michigan super slow tube crawlin ned shaky is only way to hit smallies from shore here
Hold on Caleb... 🤣 🤣...... 100
Good advice.💯💶

I've had great success ned rigging trd tubez and trd craws ín the spring, lost a few jigs though because the pike up North like to suck them in too.
