- A playthrough of The Software Toolworks' 1993 licensed-based chess game for PC, Star Wars Chess.
Played through the Windows version in a single game against the CPU.
The name is pretty self-explanatory for this one, really. It's chess, but it uses Star Wars pieces. It does a pretty nice job of keeping the Star Wars feel throughout, especially given the nicely animated, high-resolution cinematics that highlight capturing your opponent's pieces.
Unlike the Sega CD version, the "battles" aren't FMV, but rather are done using the in-game graphics engine. It's not quite as dramatic of an effect as the cutaway in the console version provides, but it does keep the game flowing a bit more smoothly, and they look fantastic. The Sega CD version was an excellent port, but I much prefer playing this original release.
Either way you go, you can't go wrong with this title. Whether you play the PC version (Dos or Windows, but I'd highly recommend the Windows version) or the Sega CD one, you're getting a solid chess game with some really cool multimedia trappings thrown into the mix.
If you like chess, go for it.

I think most people remember this game for the crazy scenes that play out whenever a piece is captured. I always laugh at Boba Fett's "yeah okay" shrug when the pipe sucks up the headless C-3PO.
I prefer this PC version over the Sega CD port, but if you like chess, you can't really go wrong with either one. It's Chessmaster in Star Wars clothing, and it works extremely well!

you should have use Luke Skywalker (King) to defeat Darth Vader (King) instead of Yoda (Rook)!
Technically you are not allowed to move the kings within one piece of each other.
Vaders' the QUEEN, not the king, and plus, Luke couldn't take Vader at the very moment. Kings only move one square at a time.

Why is Leia the Queen? Doesn't it make more sense if Luke is the Queen?
Nemesis T-Type leia was a princess in the original trilogy so it makes perfect sense
