This is when they first started to reduce the horsepower in the trucks at Daytona. The year prior they had a full 750 HP and reduced them to about 650 HP in this race. Still, no tapered spacers/restrictor plates and the racing was still overall flat out great.

i didn't have speed that year, but caught a few races at relatives houses. rick alan just came out of nowhere for me, i'd never heard of him before the trucks in 03.
Rick Crawford was one hell of a driver from the looks of this race. Never heard of him but would have liked to see what he could’ve done a few years in Cup
@@ColinHudsonToo many intermediates and big speedways. That drives up the costs of being competitive. There should be about 15-18 short track races, 2 or 3 road courses, and just a few races on ovals bigger than Gateway.
GYRO727 The several deaths from 2000 to 2001? The 2004 Chase? The 2007 Cup Series season? And you picked Toyota coming into NASCAR as the worst? I bet you only hate them because they're Japanese.
Britton Kithcart How was the 2007 Cup Series season bad? lmao. You better not say because of the CoT because some of those races with the CoT in 2007 were cool af
@@whoasked9500 Heck if theres cars from Colombia or El Salvador (where my parents are from) i will still say the same thing. Why? Because they are not from America. And being praised that they are better! Let me say this, if I were jappanese and lived in japan then i would proud to see japaneese products everywere and key word here is winning.
Look at F1, they have multiple car companies from multiple countries in them. And Indycar has Honda in it. And no, Toyota is actually the most hated of the 3 car companies in NASCAR.
OMFG look how young Rick Allen was.
Hell of a race! Watched the whole thing in one sitting.

Dorsey Schroeder and Barry Dodson actually seem like good commentators. It's a shame we didn't see them around for multiple seasons
That finish was so epic!!

Who’s here after Rick Allen explaining his first race broadcast?
The song in the beginning is Breakdown by Tantric, for anyone wondering
59:04 Rick Allen moment from 2003: "93 of Michael Dokken on fire in that number 93 right now"
Wow, I actually dig the unique trio of Rick, Dorsey, and Barry, but yikes...
...that starting grid read was awkward and choppy.
RIP Barry Dodson

He was talented. But sadly his post-career legacy is awful.
Wonder how Crawford celebrated.....
Craftsman is a Good Tool tho, I've got some Wrenches Older than Me lol
Great race. Back before they ruined the Truck Series.
How did they ruin it? Still great racing
Yeah I mean look at the 2021 race

Boy at the finish
Sounded like Bestwick
25:08 start
I didn't know the lead singer of Maroon 5 was the announcer for the race.
2:10:22 the worst thing that ever happened to the sport.

Also, Dorsey was one of the worst commentators OF ALL TIME
