- Here's an oddball from the vault everyone. It's a special little video we put together for training use by my good friends at Arges SAR in Romania after we had shot an episode of Survivorman there. If you're not interested in search and rescue then pass this one by. Otherwise enjoy!

"A map and compass can save your life" hallelujah ! Cannot say this enough ! The times I've been out on the hills, on what starts a nice day and then end up in 10m visablity in the peaks. Walking on a compass bearing and counting steps.
Happy news from NS, they deserve some good news. A few days ago a 3 year old girl went missing. She was found unharmed, cold and wet though, by Cst Berube and his dog Jynk. He said the girl said 'doggie' when they found her. Jynk looks like a german shepard. Good work everyone! edit-she was found in thick woods.
Wow that's awesome to hear God bless the rescue workers all around the world 🙏 and anyone who loses his or her way
Fantastic!👍🤠 that's great news
This is so crazy, I personally can attest to how easy it is to get lost in the transylvanian alps.
About three years ago, I was taking a road trip through the Bucegi mountains. I followed a small steep road up to a ski lift that took you to the top of the mountains. I didn't have any money on me at the time, but I managed to blend in with a small group of guys who had already paid. Took the ski lift up, and I end up wandering around the tops of the mountains for a while.
Eventually, I wander off the path a bit (big mistake) and a bit of a fog ends up rolling in. No biggie, I think to myself, its still like 3pm. Well, it was a problem. The mountain tops there are all so steep and similar that I could not find the ski lift for the life of me. I spend about 5 hours wandering around, looking for this little ski lift. Starts getting dark, and I'm like, fuck it, let's just sleep up here. I find a tiny little wooden shack thing and have the worst night I ever had. Thankfully, it was mid June, so it was not below freezing but it was still very very cold because of the altitude. Next morning it's a perfectly clear day and the ski lift literally ends up being 5 minutes round the corner from me. Most stupid thing I ever did.
That's a lot of adventuring for one doggo! In all seriousness, really glad you ended up alright.
The romanian SAR is one of the best in Europe. Those guys live and breathe those mountains. Great video!
Now we need the Transylvania directors commentary Les
I'm in Bulgaria and hadn't realised that those Carpathian Mountains were so wild. Good to know that there are Good Guys out there ready to help if you make some silly or unfortunate mistake.
Imagine growing up and becoming a search and rescue team member in Transylvania. That must be one of the coolest jobs in the world.
What an awesome group of rescuers! There is a place I would feel very safe adventuring.
That's how you get lost or hurt!
I watched this episode gladly, I hope you will come back in Romania some time in the future, we have a lot more wonderful places.
This was great! I started my SAR journey this year, too. Massive respect to mountain SAR, that's a tough job.
Welcome to one of the hardest, most rewarding things you'll ever do mate! Stay safe out there.
@@ricochet5241 Thanks!
Such beautiful country.
Thank goodness we have these videos
Very professional group well disciplined bravo
I appreciate the folks who do this tough job
People who can spot something out of place in the wilderness is a special skill w/ or w/o training . I have a hard time spotting wildlife or traces of humans 2 ft in front of me in the wilderness. You guys are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Oh yeah, this is when they come in and don't know his injury is not faked until they get him out. I would LOVE commentary on how they dealt with that, after they found out.
Lmao I wonder if he like pretended to be in pain as they moved him around lmao I could imagine him doing that
wow. super coordinated. this was very lovely. thank you for sharing. thanks for doing this with them. their desire to save a life is uplifting
Awesome!!!! Looking forward to more content!!!! And hopefully another Bigfoot directors commentary as well! You're the best, Les!
Beautiful mountains, Romania is indeed a beautiful country to explore and photograph.
WTG Les, This beautiful but dramatic excursion has many beneficial and educational aspects.👍
It’s truly amazing knowing there are people out there that risk their own lives to help others. Thank you to all of them
Thank you good Romanian first responder people! Love the country side. The forest there are dark in our western literature, but in my mind they are just another heavenly place to behold. God Bless the Good Earth. Help others.
Holy shit Transylvania is beautiful. Reminds me of the gorgeous mountain valleys of Italy and Swizerland.
I always enjoy watching and learning about the ways of our Earthly friends from abroad.
Very very cool. I'm a SAR team leader, found this fascinating.
How did this looked to you? What do you do differently?
Very interesting video and loved the scenery!! Thanks
I'm enjoying revisiting all your past EPISODE'S more the better your not screwing up the EP'S with commentary, you can still enjoy watching it while your talking about behind the scenes.
Truly respect those guys, I remember watching the ep where you pretended to have a broken leg, haha. It's encouraging to see a group of people who make a living preserving life.
Good video these guys take there job seriously and I appreciate them and there work
I remember watching this episode and this us the other side of it it shows how damning it can be to find a lost oerson
Wait. You mean it's not just the US where tourists go off trail and get lost and/or hurt?! That team looks really squared away. Good vid.
C'mon Les. Make with the rest of Survivorman Bigfoot already. LOL Stay safe!
Why dont people like this, this gives the behind the scenes if you are in a wilderness survival situation, these are the people trying to save you!
On the other hand if people aren't aware of the dangers of going into the wild and just head out unprepared basing their success on on SAR teams more people would die...
Loved it, Les. Gotta pass the self isolation hours & it doesn't get better than this! Blessings
This is a great way to end the day..thanks for sharing..these guys are nothing short of amazing
I loved this video and have watched it twice. Beautiful scenery. Thanks
Salute .. Respect to those Guys 👍
Thank you for posting more of the Salvamont group. One of my favorite episodes!
@03:35 medium mountain experience... its Survivor Man. Well I'd be a noob in that rating system.
(it is good to acknowledge your skills as new to accept learning)
Wow those guys are awesome!
Awesome video..thanks for posting
So awesome to see this episode from their point of view!
I remember this episode. Very good to see it from their perspective
Amazing stuff.
8 months later, leaving a like directly from romania
Seeing the dogs reminded me of a tale an old comrade of mine, who's a winch man on rescue choppers, told me. They were once carrying a mountain rescue team to a search, the door of the Dauphin was open and the search team and the crew were chatting, when one of them made a gesture with his arm towards the door, said gesture just happened to be the 'GO signal' for the search dog, yes, out the door went the poor dog.
Oh, no!
My favorite episode.
Wow, their SAR is that high caliber and it's entirely FREE? I definitely wasn't expecting that. Romania isn't a particularly rich country and yet you get other rich European countries that will send foreign tourists or "It wasn't a legitimate enough rescue" situations a gigantic bill for it.
That guy belaying with 2 dogs on him DOH! Fantastic to see a place that does free rescue. I want commentary on the Survive This! series, and I want to know what the kids are up to now.
That looks like gorgeous country!
My first and, only S.A.R. happened to be a Dumb Ass friend of mine,we searched for 2 days in the base of the Grand Tetons...he found an old cabin in the woods and,he was kicked back drinking the beer of the Cabins owner...believe it or Not the owner was okay with it...LoL..btw it had been 20 degrees below zero the night this idiot got lost..
It is so easy to wander off trail, or get on the wrong trail. I don't doubt your opinion that the friend was a dumb ass or idiot, just that getting lost in the woods doesn't make him one. Careless, ill prepared, short-sighted, and probably not respectful of the world around him, right LOL I knew 2 college girls who went on a day hike in the mountains in shorts and t-shirts, got caught in a storm, missed the trail crossing, got onto a harder trail by mistake, and had to be rescued out with hypothermia the second day. People just don't respect nature.
Les, Valad The Impalr, Dracula, territory ! Quite the area of even unexplained disappearances. 411, Myth and lore.
Thank God they found you!
plz, upload more Les. I use to be a smtv member. now I miss all the content. I wish I could buy everything on DVD or something.
yesss! more 1080p videos plsss
UNREAL SCALE
What happened to the "survivorman and son" episodes? I loved those, and all the sudden a bunch of Les' videos are gone!
Please do Baffin Island directors commentary.
Omg I never thought to find you on UA-cam.
Nice!
I hope you'll post the cook islands episode soon!
The rescue lines seemed to take some time to untangle at the scene, but otherwise a fantastic training run.
That rescue team really looks like they have all the right plans for a very successful search. Les, have you ever worked with a search and rescue team from the states in the Rockies? If so how would you compare the two?
Les did a brief announcement on a recent UA-cam. He was going out on a SAR in Oregon. (I believe he lives in Grant's Pass, OR now). Looking at this video - I made it okay, but I did lots of stupid things as a teen. Hiking or canoeing alone with nobody knowinq where I was. Far from home. No plan. No phones or GPS of course back then. Had a few scares - but lots of great memories. My first trip by myself I was 15 in the Tetons. I look back and wonder what my parents were thinking letting me do that!? I guess they were just as trusting and as naive (and stupid?) as I was. (Only one brief scare on that trip.)
Please another episode of bigfoot commentary.....👍👍👍👍👍
You were seen earlier in this video sitting down and splinting your leg, sitting amongst a bunch of trees. It would seem to me there should be some form of firewood handy. Why the heck wouldn't you make a smoke signal for The rescuers to see?
In the episode he used a signal mirror to flash the chopper many times but they all failed. He took his own survival kit and created a scenario where he had zero food and he actually went the wrong way and spent hours burning his energy climbing up. Anyway, he came up with the what to do with a broken leg, with no food and just by luck he got reception that sent all his text messages on the day they found him. I think he did make a fire for the night because it was freezing but he had a broken leg and played the role of trying to get firewood and it was just too much. He had to wiggle down hill then climb back up with his arms keeping his leg steady. Realistically, broken leg you’ll make a fire for the night and try not to freeze to death and already fully exhausted with no food and got a signal mirror that was used on the first day of the search. Then like I said earlier he played out the scenario as if he couldn’t make a fire large enough to signal the chopper and number 2 is his messages went thru to the team so he waited and marked the path to him using his orange bandana and human signs so they would know where he’s at.
Who played acoustic guitar on the extraction scene? Tres bein
Wonder if they have squash’s there ?
Nope😂😂 the sweets right
??
More Bigfoot commentary!!!
is this also a sneak peek into the next directors cut?
that was a breeze for these guys. watch them doing it in cold /wet weather. snow
Yeah - while one can still turn an ankle, they knew it was a training session in good conditions. Kudos to them (and any of them watching this!) for heading out in the bad conditions under stressful conditions.
Snow is a bitch for them😂🤣
Is this from one of his older shows I saw on tv years ago ?
Yes, but looks to be an extended clip from the SAR team, which was nice.
Are search parties normally this big ?? 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Really rough terrain, lots of calories burned moving around with packs, equipment, etc.
Awesome! I have a goal to be learning from you very soon. I'm starting a project called the spartan rescue project where am going to visit Sar organization through out Europe. I'm also going to support them financially. I want to learn from you how is that possible? Greetings Robin Secure Mindset
Ayo Andrew Tate needs this
what a football match. shame it was a 0-0 draw.
Yet i get lost in shopping centers...
Romania?! No! TRANSYLVANIA!!!
Was not a fan of this episode felt rushed of course, just later season's of surviving felt rushed all of it that whole feel of being with led and learning anything was long gone
Survivorman* les*
What location has been the toughest to survive??
Les always says its the cold climates that are the hardest ..
