As much banter as there is about best team in the world and World Cup chokers and all the rest. It wasn’t too long ago in my memory that we could only hope to one day beat teams of the caliber of all blacks and Boks. Now for it to be considered rivalries is a testament to the work done by everyone in the irfu to build the system they have from the ground up. Long may it continue
Yeah man the turnaround has been huge. In my childhood, Ireland was just one of a handful of teams we always beat. But my kids are gonna grow up with this massive rivalry between Ireland and NZ
Yep, that's the way it was. If we came close to any of the big 3 Southern Hemisphere teams we were delighted. When we beat the Aussies in the group stages of a World Cup, we were elated. Now, it has thankfully become a case of us being diss-appointed if we lose to any of them. This should be a cracker of a game. I think that the ABs will shade it.
Even though I’ll be on irish time to watch the game, there’s something quite nice about a Saturday morning sports game get friends over to the house a fancy breakfast maybe, orange juice and champagne or Prosecco it’s all very suitable
Years ago, when NZ beat Ireland by 30 or more pints in a game. That was when hardly anyone played rugby in Ireland. Fair play to the IRFU investing more money into professional coaches etc. We only have just over 200 professional rugby players. Not too bad in my eyes being able to compete with the rugby mad nations like NZ & SA. The sport is growing and im hoping we'll win a WC soon enough. 🙏
As an Ireland fan the closer this game gets the less confident I get. Home advantage is big, but if a few of our guys who are lacking game time show any rust at all NZ are the absolute worst team to do it against.. In any case hoping for a brilliant game!
I could say the same as a kiwi. I know if we can reproduce the form we had in 2023 leading up to the RWC we'll have favourable odds to beat the Irish at home - but that consistency has so far been elusive for us this year.
You ;can't underestimate the home factor for Ireland, undefeated at home for 19 games/nearly 4 years, haven't lost at home to southern hemisphere team since 2016
Ireland didn’t lose all their games to NZ before Chicago. There was the famous draw 10-10 in 1973 when Tom Grace scored a late try and Barry McGann missed a conversion to win at the death. The early 70s had a lot of great Irish players like Willie John McBride (subsequently the winning Lions captain in NZ), Mike Gibson. and Fergus Slattery. So while this Irish team is by far the greatest we have ever had we have had other great teams - even in the amateur era.
Some Kiwi commentators feel the ABs are catching Ireland cold because its our first game but they forget that six of our pack and 4 of the backs play for the same club which has dominated the first 5 rounds of the URC. They are match fit and know each other. I'm not saying that means we are going to win but Ireland will be ready.
I’m kinda happy Perofeta gets bench spot will be a huge game for him if he has to go into 10 early but dude can find space and soft hands just needs some confidence
@ possibly none? But I like he gets backing to fill that spot if D-Mac gets knock or whatnot he very skilled good wheels meke feet all kind stuff I think suits ABs style …tbh not that it is going to happen I hope he gets like 30 minutes coz we are giving them a hiding 😂😂go the ABs

Can't wait. Both teams will empty themselves before they take a backward step, which should make for great viewing. I'll go for Ireland because I think home advantage is always huge for us.
Hi mate... The only "bad" moment i can remember from Sititi is when Creevy won a turn over ball in Wellington... But that was a revenge from Sititi's father, who made a try playing with Samoa in 2005, in Buenos Aires, with Creevy on the field!!!
If u see the ABs on tour arriving at Twickers LW they look very chilled tbh really enjoying themselves they were def more upbeat relaxed engaging with fans most of them England fans compared to English boys see Jordie been pulling a beer or 2 at the pub know some of u think blah but getting good vibes from our boys
Never expected a Kiwi to call the AB's underdogs against Ireland in my lifetime. Ireland need to be up 12 when the replacement forwards come on. NZ should dominate the scrum in the fourth quarter.
@@barryholland8280Don’t think he should be a scratch from the wider squad or anything. But maybe been showing well in camp, as if he is fully fit and firing he is the clear starter.

NZ odds Ireland $1.50 ABs $2.50 what the heezy I can deal with Ireland being favorites but jeez… mind u expect with TF out now those odds are changed big loss for them
I bleed Black when it comes to international Rugby. I'll always support and back the All Blacks, but I literally cannot wait for this game. For this current team under Scott Robertson, this is a monumental test for the All Blacks, and I believe they'll get over the line in this one. Look for Scott Barrett, Asafo Aumua, Mark Telea, Caleb Clarke, Wallace Sititi and Stephen Perofeta (Yup, I think he'll make a big difference off the bench - this is his moment) to have big games.
The bookies are miles off.. Yes the all blacks had a bit of a shocker of a game for their standards But this is the all blacks we are talking about they can easily turn up for the next gamr I honestly can't wait for this game Call a Spade a spade 3 top teams NZ south Africa and Ireland Am i the only one who is twitching for the lions tour 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
I can't see Ireland losing. ABs still plays as individuals. Relying on brilliance from certain players. Razor has not added anything to the squad to make it competitive. They getting by. Not dominant. Maybe there are a surprise.
I think Razor has built for this match on the tour. Barrett got his backs finishing . Dmac gets them creating, so I don't expect many bombs for keegan.
Cant see any way Ireland win unfortunately. ABs are too deep into their season, half the Irish lads haven’t played for months. MONTHS. Think we'll beat Argentina, Fiji and Oz, but hard to see any way we can win this Friday
to close to call like paint on paint, but blindly say all black, if they play a basics no flashy plays, go the mighty all Blacks. they are goimg to hunt down sititi, but the least of the game are the sieal super all black Ardie and bat man sam are gona carry them home no worries

Can't wait to welcome our new Zealand brothers for a cracking game

I am asking this with much respect: Is Riko Ioana the best that NZ has to offer for 13 (particularly in defense)? Isn't he better playing wing?
Yeah a lot would like to see him on the wing, I feel like his inability to set up the guys around him is where he is most lacking
@@TwoCentsRugby Agreed. I personally always saw him as a finisher, not a playmaker.
Yeah never convinced by him as a center to be honest, I think Ireland should target him.
Riko is best on the wing, period. The coaching thinking is that the more those two play together, the better on the 12 and 13.
I’m kinda happy Perofeta gets bench spot will be a huge game for him if he has to go into 10 early but dude can find space and soft hands just needs some confidence

Rankings don’t matter. 1-5 are capable of beating each other on any given day.
You better believe they matter, ask any player what having the number 1 spot means and what a huge target you become.
Your second sentence is true but the first doesn't follow from it.

Jordie was a mystery man in the game last week, and Rieko for not holding the ball. These two have so many chances; it's just not funny.
