I use short term debt fund for near term goals. It is a good replacement for 1 year or 2 year fds. First benefit is taxation if i dont need the money for 3 years. Second the spread between short term and long term debt funds is usually not that much to warrant the interest rate risk.
Is ultra short debt fund a good choice?
Where to look for average maturity period of any liquid fund?
Nice explanation sir...which type of debt fund is more suitable to set up swp for monthly income?
How has conservative fund performed during drawdowns. Also would one invest by lumpsum in this fund ?
Sir thanks for your clear elaboration .
I have one question regarding equity MF. Suppose I'm doing SIP in some MF and the accumulated sum is almost doubled or reasonable in 2 yrs after takong into consideration applicable exit load. Now should I switch that part of the money in liquid fund without stopping SIP in that equity. Because my point is after 30 -35% return the fund may not sustain that rate.
Pattu Sir, Do you suggest lumpsum investment in a good conservative hybrid fund or one should opt for sip ? Thanks.
one can do both depending on needs
Pattu sir. Thank you for the video. Would you recommend ICICI medium term bond debt fund as a debt fund to park funds for 1-2 years.
no
@@pattufreefincal OK. Thank you Pattu sir for your kind reply.
ok so given that parag parikh fund has bonds of average of 6. yrs ...what should betheholding period to get best returns?...by the example givenby you ..it would beover 10 years. rite?
at least yes
@@pattufreefincal ok thanks.
Mr. Pattu, is it a correct assessment that a debt fund holding gilt or bonds from pre COVID era and with average maturity of 5-10 years as on today should have offer 7-8% return if we buy and sale after 5-10 years.
Infact are there any debt funds offering 7-8% return?
no. debt fund returns like equity are cyclic
