    I got put in a headlock in one fight when I was about 11 years old just down the street from my house. My dad taught me how to get out of a headlock by reaching back and going over the attacher’s head, grabbing their eye sockets with my fingers like claws and pulling straight back and down to the ground. He was in our driveway and watched it all unfold. I think that may have been the proudest my dad ever was of me. We had steaks for dinner and the other kid had two black eyes and a scratched cornea. Not really ideal in a fight between kids, but when it counted, it was affective.

    People really hating on this short, talking about being heavier than the other guy. When they exposed that they have no knowledge on how to fight. In Judo or BJJ or Jujutsu, or Sambo, you'll have guys be paired up and they have a 60lb-80lb weight gap. You should be strong enough to move 100lbs over your body weight at MINIMUM. Grappling is about leverage. If you need strength, you're doing it wrong. It HELPS, but it shouldn't be what you rely on in grappling.

    Why is self defence always so polite and gentle. It feels like self defence is designed for an indoor dojo setting with rules like "dont aim for the groin or face, no hitting only grappling" and so on.

    • @christophernoneya4635
      @christophernoneya4635 Рік тому

      To expand on it and provide a sort of exagerated example, think of your favourite sword fighting scene... Do the soldiers grab eachother or each others weapon or kick or punch with their free hand or group up and hold a guy down or any of that... Or do they just politely swing their swords at eachother. Thats what a lot of self defence stuff you see online is like.

  • @wolfflamekindl9339
    @wolfflamekindl9339 Рік тому +3

    1) most important step: don't get grabbed in the first place. 9 times out of 10, an observant eye can see the grab or headlock coming, don't be complacent. Be observant and move out of the way of the threat.
    2) if you do get grabbed or locked, aim for soft spots. Nutshot, claw, bite, gouge an eye, stomp some toes. Honor Don't matter when your life is at risk Make em hurt enough that they loosen their grip.
    3) place force on their joints. No one's able to move their joints anh which way forever. In this case specifically, just push your palm against his elbow. Or better yet, strike it repeatedly. If you still can't get out after two tries or so, go back to step 2.
    4) once you're out, either follow up and knock the assailant the fuck out, or run. If you can't guarantee you can end the fight in 3 moves or less, just run. No one jumps a guy without friends in this day and age.
    He made it a bit more complicated than it needs to be, and note how he was the bigger dude in the situation.
    Needless to say, only follow these steps if your life is actually in danger, not just rough housing with your friends. And also acknowledge that training doesn't improve your chances of winning a fight, it only improves your chances of survival; it doesn't make you some main character, so don't act like you are like this guy... okay?

      But in all seriousness, this escape will work against someone who isn't trained, which will be the case most of the time. They will lose their balance and fall. If they do have good balance, step behind them and fall back, they will trip over you legs. Also you can just smash their nuts. A headlock, on average, is not a hard place to be. It can be escaped and also, they can't really hurt you from there. They can punch at your forehead and that's pretty much it.

    I absolutely LOVE this content. As a lifelong dedicated martial artist, and a former bouncer with about 14 years experience working at about a dozen different bars and clubs all over the St Louis City area, I've acquired an awful lot of "hands-on" experience dealing with real life violence, and self defense situations, including being jumped by multiple attackers..attackers armed with guns, knives, bottles, stools, clubs, etc..(and currently carry around a souvenir from one in form of a bullet in my back, and bullet fragments in my pelvis)
    I've literally seen it all. And headlocks in a fight (especially between guys who can't actually fight) is so ridiculously common, it's almost expected than when two guys fight, one of them will headlock the other. There are really a handful of very common attacks that you see regularly in street and bar fights, and a headlock is definitely one of them.

    Be careful grappling in the street. Teeth, eye pokes, etc. aren’t gonna get the fight called off. Stay safe

      That's why Jiujitsu is worthless in a street fight and only good in CONTROLLED FIGHTS. You don''t want to go on the ground with people around. You could get your head kicked in.

    Attack pressure points. balls, toes, throat, knees, eyes. If you can grab a pinky do so and pull. Going to ground can work in a one on one but in a multiple person scenario not a good idea. So try the above first.

    also an easy way to get out of a headlock is to make sure you're 6'3 and you're opponent is 5'3 just like in this video

      Hehe nice observation
      Bigger they are the harder the fall and unfortunately the harder they punch
      I think knowing the craft well can counter these size balances more often than not
      But what would I know have a look at me, black belt douchebag

    If my 13 year old head locks me, these leverages make total sense. I pray to God he's never taller than 5'5 or idk man
