i have to say the biggest mistake i made was that i did not physically prep for bmt, just because i passed with no prep does not mean you should not prep, its just extra work you put on yourself in bmt. my advice to anyone reading this is to get fit before going to bmt.
I agree!
I’ve been slacking ever since I got into the Air Force tbh, I need to prep myself hard for my next pt test cause I’ve been getting lucky with my pt tests. However, bmt will fully prepare you over the 2 months you have to pass the final pt test. I didn’t even fully commit and I got a good pass on that final test. I got a 11:56 run, 56 pushups and I maxed out the sit-ups. That was basically only doing the workouts in bmt. I can only imagine if I had fully committed and tried my best. Now I do have to fully commit and get as fit as I can.
take your max pushups/situps, divide it by 3 and do 3 sets 3 times a day. basically aim for 3 times your max pushups/situps daily.
3 sets?
@@sean4hero340 yuh my fault
@@yocto7082so 3 sets of your max push ups
I'm 28, and after having babies and not working out for a few years...... I am STRUGGLING. My husband is army and he's giving me pointers and helps me with sit ups and push ups - form and all. Although Air Force and Army have different forms and how you have to complete the sit up. He told me to do 100 push ups and sit ups a day - throughout the day or all at once, whatever I wanna do. I can barely do 5 sit ups in a row right now. But when I started, I couldn't even do 1. He also told me to do other core work to help my core strength so like planks, crunches, etc. I'm hopefully going Air Force if I get my waivers approved. I also found that you really need hard self-discipline to get going in the gym and then once you start feeling good/better from working out, it will be so easy to just get to the gym or to do a home workout. Practice makes progress!
Ive been training for BMT for the past 2 months and lost 35lbs in that amount of time. I still have a little way to go to reach my weight requirement but now its pretty easy sailing. In the beginning, my legs and joints hurted a lot because i did not exercise at all and i was heavy but after about a few weeks or a month I did not hurt hardly at all because i got used to it. Nowadays I run/powerwalk 6.5 miles everyday
I love to hear it!! Keep it going 🥳💪🏼
@@Julieschannel222 Thank you for the tips! Happy 4th!
You can’t even imagine how much this video has helped me. I was doing that - working out, getting better with my vocabulary and math skills for the ASVAB and you gave me so many great tips! I hope you’ll achieve all of your goals. Thank you for this transparency and kindness!
Your Recruiter should tell you all you need to know about the PFT. If not, ask questions. That's what they're for, answers. If you enjoy the gym and working out, push yourself harder. If you don't like working out, change your mindset. Get in the gym and push yourself harder. Crossfit is the way to go. You will be rock solid and excel at the PFT. We trained to run a 5k, 3.2 miles. It sounds hard but everyone starts small. We built up to it. The PFT run became a joke when you're running a 5k a few days a week. The bottom line is you can do it. I appreciate everyone reading this message. You've taken a step very few people will take. Thank you for joining and protecting our nation.
Respectfully,
A former AF SNCO...
Literally just binged ALL your content. You’re so genuine and nice asl. You motivated me so much. I’ve seen a lot of helpful videos on UA-cam but watching your videos makes me honestly feel like we’re friends or something 😂. It’s just really relatable and the way you talk and express yourself reminds me of my friends. You’re lit and I love your vids lol keep it up! ❤
This is so nice😭 thank you friend🫶🏼
Yo, just wanted to say , I appreciate your style of long form content. I’ve been digging through your bmt experience series and it’s like a podcast damn near lol
I appreciate this so much!!
Nice video
Im a old man that can't run a mile and half without a break or walking
Thank you for this video
That is what always held me back for joining the military.
My running has stagnated around 13.5 minutes. Excited to see how much further I learn to push my body at Basic, shipping next Tuesday.
That’s a great run time! Be sure to reach back out when you graduate & tell me how you improved! Good luck w everything :)
I might be shipping soon and have been getting the same times, how'd it go at basic?
@@theoc007 Went great. There's not a lot of running but the competition helps. Think my final time was about 11min.
The running was definitely challenging ;but as long as you put in the work youll be good, keep up the videos thanks
Agreed! & thank you :)
My new favorite channel!!!
I’m prepping now and working up to a run I’m 32 and my goal to get in shape is by June. I’m working with a trainer at my gym 6 days a week right now. I have 70 lbs to lose by then. That’s my goal anyways.
Aye I believe in you! Best of luck
Such a helpful video
Ive lost 60 lbs since january and im almost BMT ready just 16 more to go. Now comes the real conditioning because i might be 28 but im hoping to get a score thats competitive with the kiddos 😂
Thats great, keep it up!!
Don't compare yourself to anyone in basic. Its a family fleet, and you're same as everyone else. Don't ever let age dictate anything, remember that! I've seen older people smoke the shit out of youngish, and vice versa. Thats why I state, get age out your mind now, it dont mean shit.
I leave to BMT next month. I can run a mile in 11-12 minutes but I start to get tired when trying to do the extra 2 laps. Maybe I could start running for time instead. Hopefully by then I’ll be ready, I have 6 weeks to condition myself.
That’s not too bad! You’ll definitely be where you need to be come the final PT test. Keep up the hard work & good luck on everything!
This is the video I needed. I’ve been so worried about going to BMT and failing because of the physical part! Cos girl, just like you said😂aint nothing athletic about me!!! i heard that! Love these vidss! Quick question as a woman, is there any extra advice that you’d give about bras & sports bras for having a bigger bust?
You got this😂 & not exactly, I’d just find something that gives you adequate support. I took the ones I already had, also went to tj maxx & target for some extra ones
Are you willing to do a pt test video or like a few sits, and push ups? Please and thank you
Big talk from the Dorm Queen haha
I can’t do a sit up, i’m a slow runner and I suck at pushups… I can do them though 😅
I also still need to lose weight before I can even hope to join, I’m already about 100lbs down so, hopefully by next year! 🙃
homeslice where are youuuu? I need new content🙂 love your channel!!
I got something in the works coming out soon🥹🤍
Thank you for the advice because this will definitely help me going to bmt. Do you think you lost weight while in bmt?
Glad I could help! And personally I gained weight, bc I was small when I went in (my body fluctuates), but I gained a lot of muscle. You’ll see everyone’s body change in some way tho. Some girls lose weight, some gain, it just depends on how you are when you go in.
Damn this what the AF girls look like? ❤
Lemme go head and sign up!
I leave April 4th!!!
Good luck!
i leave april 25th😮💨
Start with diet first and foremost. You working against yourself if you don’t do that before. You can do lite running with small intervals of intense sprints at least 4 days out of the week. That 1.5 cake
From your experience, what was the longest run you did in BMT?
We either ran 1.5 miles or had 24 min run days
@@Julieschannel222 oh wow, for some reason I thought it would be a lot longer, but I assume the distance of the 24 minute runs were based on your run group?
@@Loxris it’s self paced
I leave March 21st for BMT…. The only thing that gets me is the run
Congratulations! And you got this, just keep at it :)
Hella fine
Hii I have a question kinda late lol. About how many miles do they make u run ?😊
In basic training, it’s 1.5 mile or a 24 minute run at your own pace. All tech schools are different, mine specifically required us to run 5ks once a week, but they could all differ
So in sit ups does someone hold your feet down or is it optional or is that not allowed?
Yes, you will have a partner who will hold your feet
They call it BMT instead of BCT now? George Carlin was right about how they twist words.
So during BMT, there's zero option of the PT variants? It's all standard push-ups, sit-ups, and 1.5 mi run?
Yes, no variations allowed
i recently graduated on 3.29-3.30 and they will allow you to do an alternative (minus the run) if you fail 2/3 attempts from your final pt test, but it might change. so go in giving your all.
@@dbronaugh21 oh wow, thank you for the update! Also congratulations on graduating🤍
@@Julieschannel222 thank you so much ❤️!! and no prob! i was very surprised to hear that they allowed it.
what happened if you are top in PT?.. I heard they are giving medal to someone who sis physically fit. is it true?. my push up - 250, sit up 100, pull up 20.
Yes they do, the male & female with the highest PT scores gets something
250? In 1 minute? What’re you Superman?? I’m extremely in great shape I can’t even do that much lmao.
Needed this and girl I can’t do no push-ups either😩🤍 so this helped
You got this, keep at it!💪🏼
I’m considering next year if I reach my fitness/weight goal. I’m super nervous because like. I used to be super athletic etc but now I’m just like….. chilling all the time bc of work. But I’m so planning to start again and push myself. 🥲 I have so many questions honestly that I can’t ask here just randomly. 🥲 or if you have any websites that you know of that could possibly explain everything I would love to read so much more on requirements etc etc
You can speak with a recruiter, or check out the links in the description box! Hope this helps
