Did you know that Roger Taylor is the only living person to be on a Royal Mail stamp (excluding the real Queen). When they did a Freddie Mercury tribute stamp, there's one of him in his classic pose on stage, behind him is the drumkit, if you look hard enough - you can just about make out Roger Taylor playing it!
As a Queen fan, from BEFORE they were famous, I've found a GROUP who can do Freddie. . 😂 Check Forestella doing "Bohemian Rhapsody". They do Freddie proud. 👍
Notice how incredible that performance was with no special effects, no flashing lights, no holograms, fireworks nor a crew of sexy dancers. Just a once-in-a-generation talent with 3 other outstanding performers in their own right at the top of their game. I've seen this over 100 times and it never gets old.
Queen at Live Aid changed the world. Back then crowds would really let a performer work and think and breathe rather than screaming over everything. This was fantastic
There has never been a live band like Queen - one of the best live bands ever (along with the likes of The Who). Freddie was both a master showman and great vocalist. The rest of the band built the solid support that he could use for the songs. A tight, passionate unit.
If you will notice at one point, Brian Mays walks back stage, because he broke a string, and Freddie and Roger keep the audience engaged until Brian returns, you aren't even really aware something happened, it was efficient and flawless. Those are true showmen. ❤
What really happens is, Brian walks back to his amps like he does most of the time during the whole show. He also most likely did a quick tune up. If you actually look at the video carefully you'll see he never swaps guitars, it's still his Red Special, so no, he didn't break any string.
@@SealedKiller Never heard that he broke a string but something did go wrong. I read a comment by someone who was there. If you watch carefully you see that Freddie turns on the piano bench toward Brian. You hear Brian play one note but then, just before the camera cuts away, you see him unplug his guitar. As Freddie comes to the front of the stage he's looking at Brian heading back to what, I've read, was the guitar technician. Freddie starts working the crowd & looks back again to see Brian coming back to the front.
@@MizCriz46there cannot be something wrong when he went more backstage, cause he never stops playing notes, I think it's just their usual change of who is in front of stage like they do with light for Roger
That's one moment that I'll always remember. Even though I was only watching it on the TV in the living room. I kept trying to get my family to understand how huge the moment was, but they didn't get it.
Totally agree with you. Unfortunately I was too young (and our family too broke) to go to a Queen gig. I really wish I could have done. I watched it on TV though, 14 at the time - it was definitely one of those "you'll always remember where you were when...." moments. Like the moon landing, the assassination of JFK and MLK and the 911 catastrophe.
Yes definitely recommend their Live Aid performance. What people who weren't around at the time don't realise is that as well as the concert at Wembley Stadium there was a US concert in Philadelphia at the same time and they played the concerts on big screens at both venues plus screened the whole thing live around the world including here in New Zealand where we watched it live. One of the biggest music moments in history. Each band/artist had 20 minutes each to do a set and they had 3 revolving stages at Wembley so they could have one setting up, one performing and one packing out at the same time. We'll worth a watch. Incidentally there's a great and hilarious two part documentary on UA-cam on getting Live Aid on focused around Bob Geldof who organised the whole thing.
A music reviewer said their harmonies were "suspiciously good." Roger (drummer) said that's because they rehearse, and he may have added an expletive or two. Roger is so great in this performance and supports Freddie perfectly.
They were such a tight band and that doesn't come about by chance., that's professionalism. The British press were just horrible to Queen and I've never really understood why. Roger and Brian both have great voices and could have been lead singers in any band that didn't have Freddie in it! 😂😂😂😂
@ I agree they’re both great, but neither has the versatility of a Freddie or even an Adam. I think both Roger and Brian would say they are instrumentalists who sing sometimes, where Freddie was a lead singer along with being a pianist and occasional guitarist. That’s just my take on it. 😊

The talent of each member is incredible. They must be from another planet. 😂 Love them.
And Brian has a DOCTORATE in astrophysics - that he uses! He was just part of a NASA mission last year. Like… can you even imagine that kind of talent? “Sure, I’m gonna get one of the hardest doctorates in the world… be about two years from finishing it and then hit pause for THIRTY YEARS, and then go back and finish it at 58”?! I mean, he got lucky that no one studied or cared about what he was researching for all but like four years he was gone, but still. I can barely remember how to use the geometry I learned in high school, and he’s finishing a PhD on “radial velocity using absorption spectroscopy and doppler spectroscopy of zodiacal light using a Fabry-Pérot interferometer” like he’s just take a pause to walk around the park. Absolutely amazing.
I managed to live into my seventies before encountering Queen - well, as Queen. Soo many of their pieces have become part of our personal , sometimes without our even noticing. We Will Rock You; We Are the Champions; Under Pressure, esp the opening guitar; Another One Bites the Dust. Queen could do anything. Drove the critics mad, but I like their freedom to do just that. Suggestion: IMHO Radio GaGa is seriously underestimated; it’s great social commentary.
There will never be anyone else like Freddie. In my opinion he is the greatest performer in music history. Queen didn't write songs they made anthems 🔥
Freddie Mercury's beautiful voice but also his great composition skills, showmanship, and writing. When he passed, we lost a Legend. Great reaction Knox😊
You should react to Live Aid (Queen) Full Concert [1985, London, Wembley Stadium] .. Freddy was a showman and watch how the audience react to him..They squeeze all their hits into 20 mins on stage
A great example of that is the tribute song Queen did after Freddie died “No One but You (Only the Good Die Young)” It was the last time John Deacon performed with Queen.
Freddie loved Aretha Franklin and this is his gospel tribute to her style. I love this song and the performance. Every band member is spot on and Roger's (drums) back up vocals (and high harmonies) along with Brian (guitar) really just make this song so beautiful and soulful. Thank you for a great reaction to this song. Multiply this by the 2+ hours of a Queen live show and it is easy to understand why they are such an iconic band.
Extremely educated, masters at their crafts and blissfully gifted. Roger Taylor's high vocals are legendary. Brian May's nonchalant play boggles me, and Freddie hypnotizes every time. QUEEN❣️
Thanks for the reaction. He never had a drug problem. Supposedly did partake recreationally occasionally but not to the point of dependency or addiction. Best musician, performer, frontman, singer, showman and most beautiful human being of all time! Love and miss you, Freddie ♥️
Freddy drank too much and used too much cocaine. He OD-ed twice. And when Elton John says "Freddie could out party him" (which he did say) you should know enough.
I always loved this because besides Freddie being a musical God, this song is not asking to be loved but rather to find someone he can love. Most songs are the opposite of this. We're missed out on so much wonderful music when we lost Freddie.
Queen, a completely united entertainment package built on their genius musical abilities and determination to exceed expectations. Freddie Mercury , lead singer extraordinaire. Thus, they don’t miss.
Freddie guides our emotional pull to his music, THEN Roger's percussions and John's bass solidifies our need to go along and we get to hear Brian's guitar screaming the plea for us staying there. Queen, wonderful! Love 'em!
Queen is a perfect fit for your taste in music, the band was so heavy on the art behind music, We Will Rock You is a must listen to if you haven't already haha
You just opened up the Pandora's box of beauty. Most of their performances are live ~ and, they are purely fantastic. So, much for you to listen to. They were a group of incredible talent, art and grace.
Freddie was the most charismatic lead singer I ever saw. An incredible showman fronting one of the most talented group of musicians. They never failed to deliver!
Fantastic! Queen transcends everything imaginable: time, genre, subject matter in lyrics, you name it! Aside from beer and water, Freddie also had cups of hot lemon honey drinks to soothe his vocal cords because, though they made it look like a walk in the park, their music is NOT easy to sing. Definitely keep exploring their work, especially their early concerts i.e live at the rainbow '74 or Odeon Hammersmith '75. They were destined for greatness from the get-go! Roger Taylor and Dr. Sir Brian May (he was knighted last year) both have great singing voices and sing lead vocals on several tracks. Roger in particular had, what Freddie teasingly referred to as "the dog whistle pitch".
Would love to see you react to queen's live aid performance. Probably the best 20 minutes of live music you will ever see. Freddie had the audience in the palm of his hand.
I was 14, in 1977, when I first heard Queen!! It didn't take long before I'd become a huge fan and bought every record!! Sad to say I lost all those LPs along the way. Queen has so many gem songs on their records that didn't make top 10 and they're more than worthwhile listening to!!! Please check out more Queen!!! I promise they will rock you!!! 😊❤
Freddie will always be the best frontman and singer ever! What a beautiful soul. The entire band is full of talent but Freddie’s voice takes it over the top.
Freddie Mercury and Queen have always been my absolute favorite band . Freddie was amazing and magnetic, his voice was like no other !! This band was just incredible. The Live Aid performance was breathtaking and will never be forgotten. Thank you for paying tribute and reacting to this Knox.. I loved your breakdown of the lyrics... just fantastic overall .
I was lucky enough to see Queen live (with Adam Lambert) couple of years ago - absolutely superb. Freddie made a couple of cameo appearances via video. What a great band !
In ‘81 at CNE Stadium in Toronto, Ontario my 16 year old self had what I realized later was a very lucky summer that made lifetime memories. I saw Queen and The Who live, I loved them both and still do. Both were incredible live, both brilliant innovators who changed music & made history but the simple truth is there will never, ever be another Freddie Mercury. He’s a triple threat never to be repeated; songwriting & musical genius surrounded by three other musical geniuses, what are the odds; the best male voice ever (argue if you want but the range & depth cannot be equaled) all in the body of the best frontman in music. That will never be topped either, no one commanded an audience like Freddie, not before, not during and not since. He had a natural magic on stage that you can’t learn or copy. He never performed a song the exact same way twice, he never failed to connect with every single person in the audience and no one but Freddie could effortlessly take complete command of an entire audience (70,000+) and make them do as he wished without even seeming to ask. No where is this demonstrated better than the performance I’d love to see your reaction to, Under Pressure at Wembley Stadium - ua-cam.com/video/OVzvoPP6M50/v-deo.htmlsi=KrUo4rer5tpdPrpO. Queen & David Bowie collaborated (that’s quite a story too) on this timeless masterpiece but never had a chance to perform it live before Freddie passed away. Here he sings most of both their parts and is assisted by the great Roger Taylor who also seems effortless executing the complex drumming which drives the song while also taking over Bowie’s part in the harmonies. Magic every time I see it.
Recommended Live Aid, 1985. A charity concert for famine relief in Africa. It was broadcast from both the UK and the USA, using 13 satellite hook ups and featuring about 60 acts. Each act was only allowed a 20 minute set after which the sound would be cut. Queen stole the show! David Bowie followed Queen in the line up. As Queen left the stage Freddie passed by Bowie who stopped him saying, “You Bas$@rds! How am I supposed to follow that!?” The performance is considered the best live set to this day! 🎼🎶🎵🎶🎤🎸🥁🎸👏👏👏
No it's not considered the best live set to this day. It's considered the best set of Live Aid, and that it was. Many including Queen themselves had better live sets at many occasions.
@astolk8783 the earlier stuff is what made them stand out for me , they were so far ahead of their time the last 2 albums they moved in a different direction which everyone is allowed to do upto an including the works are masterpieces in my eyes , the sign of a great band is one that you can't replace a single member, everyone was the best at what they do
@@deanhill8396 so true..may and Taylor wrote alot of songs as well..deacon only a few.. The current Queen I don't fancy anymore Lambert got a great voice don't get me wrong but since Freddy is gone and deacon stept away I don't follow them anymore..

Another great reaction! I was so lucky to see Queen live, with Freddie in 1986 at Wembley. Proper iconic stuff and it’s great to see your appreciation of every facet of their abilities. Keep up the good work 😀🇬🇧
You know the question of “what person, dead or alive, would you want to meet/have dinner with?” Freddie. Hands down. Living On My Own is one of many bangers, but it’s from when Freddie went solo.
I loved Queen The Soundtrack to my childhood and teenage years. So many iconic songs. Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Gaga, I want to break free, Barcelona, We will rock you, The show must go on, Another one bites the dust, We are the champions ... To name but a few. R.I.P. Freddie!
I have loved Queen since 1976. I saw them twice at the Inglewood (LA) Forum in 1978 & 1980. I've seen a lot of bands come through town, but no band put on a show like Queen. Freddie and the boys were simply the best. They loved their audience and we loved them!
Have you already watch Queen's 'Save Me' live performance at Montreal? IT'S LITERALLY THE BEST! And Freddie's soft voice is just full of emotions, love it! Listen to the lyrics as well.
I'm a fan of The Queen sine i was born basically but your analysis made me cry. You always are on point you always have the gift of understaning even the tiniest things IN EVERY SONG, even the one that i know since i was i kid, like this one.
I’m really glad ur starting to branch out in other genres Knox. There’s so many great artist, singers and groups that u might not think u’d like because it’s not a genre u would normally listen to and I hope u start diving into it. That’s one reason why EM’ is so great, he actually listens and knows so much about other genres and artist.
Knox!!! Finally, Finally, Finally someone (you!!!) hit every feeling, experience of this Queen performance!!! I’ve just about given up listening to people critique Queen (except for Amy on Virgin Rock), but you got it….you understood this song and performance from beginning to end. I’ve been listening to Queen since 1974 and have been to 2 concerts. You are the first person I’ve heard (other than myself) use the word PASSION to describe Freddie’s singing and the band’s playing. You might be too young to know the singer Aretha Franklin? She was an American soul singer and one of Freddie’s inspirations. This song was a silent dedication to her. Knox, you’ve made this 70 yr old rocker chick smile today. You should research about the 4 members of Queen. I think you’d find their lives are not your typical rock band people. I hope to see you do more Queen critiques in the near future ♥️ 🤘🏻
Never heard this or never reacted to it? I’m always shocked by that then remember I’m old😂 I just saw Queen a few months ago. I miss Freddie but they still rock

The greatest. The synergy between each band member has never been bettered, a truly remarkable song and one of the greatest live performances.
Do the whole Queen live aid set from 1985. Goated.
Roger Taylor, the drummer, has a beautiful singing voice as well.
indeed. His more recent music is also outstanding. Check out Isolation by Roger. It was released during the pandemic
you need to react to queen at live aid 1985!
Yes!
Talk about showmanship..he had how many thousands of people doing operatic runs
Definitely
This is the live aid.
@@phoenix-xu9xj This is from Queen live in Toronto. 😊x
Pretty sure theyre the only band where every member has written a top ten hit. Outstanding band.
I'm still amazed there are people who haven't heard this classic!
He is one of the greatest singers of all time.
Freddie was the best performer of all time.
Yep Freddy's lyrics where off the charts.. especially the early Queen songs..magical!!
Oh but some of the later songs written when they knew Freddie didn't have much time left are hauntingly good!
@@SusanLines-vi3md mother love
We call this one of the best performances of all time. Queen calls this........ "a Tuesday evening."
You should react to Live Aid (Queen) Full Concert [1985, London, Wembley Stadium] .. Freddy was a showman and watch how the audience react to him..They squeeze all their hits into 20 mins on stage
What a performance by one of the greatest performers in the world,so bloody sad to lose him
Roger Taylor (the drummer) is such an under rated singer and Brian May could also sing - they were all very talented!
A great example of that is the tribute song Queen did after Freddie died “No One but You (Only the Good Die Young)” It was the last time John Deacon performed with Queen.
This is the one concert I would choose to see if I could go back in time. GOAT.
QUEEN❣️
The Live Aid 1985 Freddie was told by a Dr not to perform, but he still killed it
Thanks for the reaction.
Roger on drums is also the back up singer in this song with those high notes. He also sings the extremely high "Galileo's " in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Queen… best rock band of time. Hands down. Glad you found them. This concert and live aid are on my must see list when we can travel back in time
You just opened up the Pandora's box of beauty.
The drummer is Roger!!!!
I had the privilege of seeing them live in Sydney in the mid 80's during The Works tour. Best concert ever, no one has come close.
Mr Hill..... Thank you, and welcome to the rock of the late 70's and early 80's.
Epic time!
Queen will never be forgotten anymore than Mozart. Unique, brilliant, and such beautiful music.
Gotta do more queen
Yes, this! He was absolutely in control emotionally with every single person in that stadium, amazing to watch, makes my heart swell every time❤
Thank you for noticing the drummer’s voice. This performance is so great & rarely do I hear anyone notice how Roger brings it in this performance.
Me 16 X
Me 6 🥰 Queen will never be surpassed imho 🙏 ❤
You have to do a reaction of the Live Aid performance please please please!!!! The way the WORLD came together during that performance, chef's kiss!
Queen is one band that I never got to see in person, I wish I could turn back time to the 80's! There just a magical band
This one and "Save me" from the same show are the two greatest live performances I've ever seen and heard. Thanks for spreading the word!
Queen is such a legendary band. Their songs are timeless and iconic 💜
All are welcome to the rabbithole of Queen... put your seat belt on. You're awesome keep it up 😊
Queen,1985 Live-aid performance for sure!!!
It would take over an hour with how much he stops the video.
Totally
Can't believe it has been 44 years since I snuck out to see them....
I was lucky enough to see Queen live (with Adam Lambert) couple of years ago - absolutely superb. Freddie made a couple of cameo appearances via video. What a great band !
I think Adam is the only one that could even come close to singing Freddie 's part. I bet that was awesome.
When I heard he was singing with them, there was definitely a CLICK of rightness.
I’ve seen them twice. Adam has such respect for the music.
To get the feel of his genre range, check out his duet with Montserrat Cabella doing "Barcelona". It's a trip worth taking and breath taking.
Big Queen fan here, so happy you had a chance to watch this!
@@endthisnonsense7202 no need to be snippy. JEEZ
Freddie the ultimate frontman. And what a voice!!!
You should check out “March of the Black Queen” by Queen. They couldn’t perform it live because it was too complicated. Very underrated Queen song.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
they actually performed it live for a couple of their early tours… albeit in a much more condensed form, for their medley.
White Queen - live from Odeon- incredible piano, guitar, vocals
Yes, the drummer can reach unbelievable heights with his voice (and he makes a nice woman impersonation in a video)...
Queen is one of the best rock band ever!
They aren't one of the best they are the best nobody comes close
@@deanhill8396 for me they are the best indeed.
If you listen to the early Queen albums you will know.
@astolk8783 I feel it should have ended with Freddie I love Paul Rodgers but totally wrong for queen but at least they called it queen with either Paul or Adam
Another great reaction!
I was so lucky to see Queen live, with Freddie in 1986 at Wembley.
Proper iconic stuff and it’s great to see your appreciation of every facet of their abilities.
Keep up the good work 😀🇬🇧
More Queen live reactions. One of, if not the best performer and crowd controller of all time. You will never be disappointed
You know the question of “what person, dead or alive, would you want to meet/have dinner with?” Freddie. Hands down. Living On My Own is one of many bangers, but it’s from when Freddie went solo.
Queen is unparalleled. ❤
Thank you for reacting to one of my most favorite bands of all time. ☺️
I loved Queen The Soundtrack to my childhood and teenage years. So many iconic songs. Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Gaga, I want to break free, Barcelona, We will rock you, The show must go on, Another one bites the dust, We are the champions ... To name but a few. R.I.P. Freddie!
Who Wants to Live Forever! Cannot forget that one - or Highlander. 😂
Queen the first time? .... oh, for the channel. Was going to say Bohemian Rhapsody is the one to go with.
He said it’s this SONG for the first time
You said one great thing:” I feel elevated”.
Yes, that’s the kind of feeling you have when you hear Queen’s live performances
Possibly the best live performance I've ever seen. All of them are true musicians.
OK - love this dude. UK subscriber here who grew up on rock but gravitated to your channel from a relatively recent dive into the world of hip hop (thank you Ren!). I've watched this performance of Freddie 100s of times but your break down of the legend with a more hip hop & lyricist vibe makes me feel like I'm watching it again for the first time. Love the reaction & breakdown dude, not to mention the hip hop education you give me in your other videos... keep doing your thing!
#LegendsNeverDie!!!!!
Man, this was by far the best reaction video I have ever seen. And I have watched hundreds of reaction videos because it is my guilty pleasure watching the younger generations being shocked by this performance. But you really tried to understand all the emotions and the drama behind the lyrics. Thank you, it was fantastic.
So good. They never went out unprepared & they were so in tune with each other & the audience.
