So happy you finally found the most amazing quartet I’ve ever encountered. Dimash and Forestella are what I consistently listen to because of the vocal abilities and ranges. Forestella’s cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is awesome. Their cover of Shape of You is done in multiple languages. Also, Nella Fantasia shows the countertenor’s pure tone. Listen to different songs to experience how they showcase each other’s strengths. You are in for a vocal treat.

Yes, Dimash, Forestella, Dan Vasc, and Hua Chenyu are my daily fixes now. Vocal ranges, variety of genres and creativity that they all have in common. Brilliant artists in different way!
Forestella's a Vocal Group and their genre is CROSSOVER. They definitely belong to the best that the music industry currently has to offer. They mix mainly rock/pop with classic vocals and very sophisticated classically techniques. One of Forestella's concerns is to show that rock/pop and classical singing can go very well together. And general enthusiasm and recognition proves them right.
They are 2 masters of vocal music, 1 musical actor, 1 rock vocalist and self-taught until the group was founded.
Forestella is very creative and ambitious and not necessarily always mainstream. "Utopia" is progressiv and part II of a triology, Part I "Save Our Live" and III "White Nights". All in very different styles. May not be to everyone's taste. For me it's one of the best I've heard in a long time. Same to the other parts. The vocalization is by Forestella themself, under direction of Kang HyeongHo (Rock/Soprano) and in coordination with Valensia (Composer)
Solo, they each pursue projects based on their own very different musical preferences and Forestella's fans also come from very different backgrounds. In order to do justice to everyone, they have now significantly expanded their musical direction towards more contemporary music.

I just have one small thing to point out, which is that White Night probably is not the final part of their trilogy. It doesn't have a proper MV with the three Acts in it like the way they did w/ SOL and Utopia.
Plus, their latest single Kool was referred to as a spin off, and in the Kool MV, it's Utopia playing that Woorim turns off before Kool kicks in, not White Night.
I am already dying to know how they plan to wrap up this trilogy, but it seems like we may have to wait a while for that to come😢

This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However, as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.

Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (a classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (an ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (a classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (a musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible.
Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. They sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their new original song Utopia is a must check.

FORESTELLA is very versatile and none of their songs are the same as the previous ones. Most of the time they reinterpret legendary songs, in a very creative way and always respecting the original. Also highly recommended are their spectacular versions of "Bad Romance" and "Despacito" which attracted great worldwide attention (You won't recognize them here). Their version of "Bohemian "Rhapsody" is generally considered the best and their more classical interpretations of "Hijo de la Luna" or "Scarborough Fair" are simply incredible. Here the unique voises, ranges and alibyties come into their own. (And except for their m/v's, they performe always live!)
Hello, and thank you for listening to Forestellla! This song, UTOPIA, is probably their most different one. The theme is the Utopia of the world we want to live in, versus the dystopia of what it really is like. If you look at it again, you will see the utopia of a beautiful place to live, beautiful scenery, and then the dystopia of riches, fame, and like things. This is one of their originals. The other ones, which are part of the trilogy that goes with this one, are more “normal”, if I can use that term. Their originals are “For life”, “Save our lives”, and “White Nights” which are all uplifting and deep meaning songs. Their last original is “Kool”, a rather corny pop song they created as a promise to their fans. The bulk of their work is covers of well known songs, arranged in their very dinstinct Forestella style. They cover opera, pop, rock and any type in between. They sing in many different languages, always with top notch pronunciation. Each member is also a star in their own right. To see a totally different style from “Utopia”, I would recommend “Je suis malade”, the cover of a French song made popular by Lara Fabian. They show extreme vocal ability and great range of emotions. Happy listening!

"Time in a Bottle" and "Je suis malade" are my favorite covers! I know "Bohemian Rhapsody" cover is also great, but "Time in a Bottle" is especially awesome! They'll give you amazing performance!!! I'm ARMY but happy to see you enjoying Forestella!! And because you are vocal coaches, you must definitely check So-hyang's performances. She is at the highest level of vocal talent in the world. I strongly recommend her rendition of "Bridge over the Troubled Water". You will be shocked : )
This is the 2nd part of their trilogy. You can see act 4~6 here. The 1st part was their Save our lives and you can find act 1~3 there.
The theme of the song was like Utopia for human beings might be dystopia for nature. And we need to find a way to co-exist because human beings are also a part of the nature.
In the end of Save our lives- their original song as well, previous of Utopia, you can see the World Tree was growing up. That concept of world tree of life is from Nordic myth's Yggdrasill so their concept and story is also a crossover of the biblical metaphors and nordic mythical symbols.. and they took the 4 elements idea of Aristotle in the Save our lives like each of Forestella is representing an element like the Fire, the Water, the Air and the Earth. Interestingly, their vocal ranges fit the elements for each too.
We can just guess and imagine stories, I think we can get everything clearer when the 3rd part is released.
The composer is a Dutch named Valensia who lives in Valéncia in Spain. Forestella requested him to make an operatic part like Bohemian Rhapsody as Valensia was so strongly influenced by Queen, like to have made Queen tribute album himself. Actually his first demo version of Utopia was named Valéncia, like Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballé, a hymn for Valencia. But Forestella changed the lyrics to suit their World Tree and Utopia concept. It's interesting that still we can find some names of local spots in Valéncia, lol.
They had more than 17K takes and used more than 400 tracks for this one song. It took more than 2 months of recording as far as they said. As always they sound better in live, so check out their live performance in Mnet too!

If you're looking for a genre, you're not going to find one. Much like Queen, they won't be tied down to genre, they will hop into every thing from Opera to KPop and kill them all. Their covers are AMAZING and they always add their own little flair while still respecting the originals. You are going to lose your minds when you hear what these voices can pull off. This is such a small sample.

Doohoon - Tenor/Baritone (Musical Theater guy)
Hyungho - Countertenor (ZERO trained Rock vocalist and unbelievably unique)
An elimination singing competition designed to put together a crossover quartet (Phantom Singer) brought them together. Mingyu kept winning and basically assembled this amazing team that has so many flavors and colors. They really like to showcase each voice and no one gets left out. (unlike some vocal groups, they dont leave their Bass in the background).
This is the 2nd song in an original series they are doing (thus, the Act 4 thing. 1-3 are the previous song "Save Our Lives"). The 3rd song hasn't been released yet.

Ok I love that 2nd listen 🤩… it is exactly what Forestella wanted you to do…you have to listen to it at least 3 to 5 times. BUT THERE IS A 😊PREQUEL M/V CALLED …SAVE OUR LIVES … you were right when you said you were missing something! Watch it first to get some context, then rewatch Utopia preferably in the same sitting. And they perform these songs live in their concerts to great success..they are first and foremost vocalists of extraordinary ability, and have amazing musicians who accompany them. 🙏🏼

The composer is Valensia Clarkson; he's heavily influenced by Queen (you guessed the vibes right xD), hence the rock opera style of Utopia. He lives in the city of Valencia, in Spain; in fact, many of the places mentioned in the song (Camelia, Malvarrosa, Rascanya, La Saïdia and Mestalla) are emblematic places of Valencia. Forestella's three main original songs are Save our Lives (highly recommended; it's the 1st one, that's why in Utopia the acts were numbered from 4 to 6), Utopia, and White Night, but they have more.
They're a vocal crossover quartet from South Korea (bass 15:40, tenor 15:51, baritenor 15:34, and countertenor 15:26); the first two have classical training, the third one is a musical actor, and the countertenor had no musical training before joining the group (he was in an amateur rock band). If you want to listen to more of them, I'd recommend their covers of Bohemian Rhapsody (which is one of their best covers, but they're incredible at everything they do), Scarborough Fair, Champions, Je suis malade, Hijo de la Luna, Nella Fantasia, Lazenca save us and Bad Romance (though it's better if you just search in UA-cam for the Forestella Starter Kit).

They play almost all genres of music in their own style.
I recommend you to listen to their live.
If you are interested to listen and view more of Forestella, for classical - 'Parla Piu Piano, in ultra vita, L'immensita.' For KPOP - listen to 'Kool, Shape of you, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc.' For more modern songs - 'Bad Romance and Despacito'. They have a lot of Cover songs like Scarborough Fair, Hijo de la Luna, If I Leave'. Songs from a Broadway musical - Stars, Phantom of the Opera, etc.
They are an excellent group from Korea. They are young and have a lot to go. However, they have reached a global popularity because of their harmony.

i wouldn't call this so much typical, but it does fit forestella's talents and abilities. the bass and one of the tenors are opera singers, the baritenor is a musical actor. so there is musical theater in their backgrounds. then there's the countertenor. he had no professional training before joining forestella! what he and the bass bring to the group is epic!
this song is part 2 of a trilogy. the first song is called save our lives. so utopia is the second 3 acts. the 3rd part of the trilogy has yet to be released. i would say utopia is their most experimental song to date, so you picked a doozy to start with!
forestella has also sung bohemian rhapsody and we are the champions, so there is rock opera and symphonic rock in their repetoire. they are a classical crossover quartet, so their ability to harmonize and synchronize the dynamics is up there with the best in the world.

the first 6 songs are forestella originals, and there are some classical crossover standards. they've performed covers and originals in 8 different languages so far and mastered many genres!
however, i want to mention that they do a lot of covers because there is a show in korea (called immortal songs 2) on which they are frequent guests. the premise of the show is stars either doing covers of a specific past artist or covers centered on a central theme. it's these covers (sadly not their originals) that go viral. it was their cover of bohemian rhapsody on immortal songs 4 years ago that introduce them to the world beyond korea. since then, shape of you (in 3 languages), scarborough fair, bad romance and despacito have all gone viral and introduced forestella to a broader audience.

it's not just because of the composer being a big fan of Queen. Forestella gave him the instructions that they wanted a song that brings in the epicness, and combines it with a queen-like rock style and operatic/classical vibes.

They have done many covers of classic Western songs on various shows (copy right strikes are pervasive). You can find live versions filmed by fans using their cell phones and their voices are still astounding. They've recorded many of them (yes, they paid the ASCAP fees). Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Time In A Bottle, Bad Romance, Scarborough Fair, Shape of You to name a few.
"Angel" is a lovely song showcasing their voices.
"Hijo De La Luna" is my all time favorite. It takes my breath away.

I’m glad you discovered Forestella. I discovered them last year and became a fast fan. They cover so many genres…Utopia, which is their own song was not my favorite and I didn’t think it would sound the same live. I went to their concert when they had the North American tour earlier this year and Utopia sounded even better live! As to recommendations to ascertain their versatility I would recommend Bohemian Rhapsody, Nella Fantasia, Je Suis Malade, Despacito, Maldita Sea mi Suerte, Shilla’s Moonlight, Time in a Bottle, Hijo de la Luna… for starters

They are a crossover quartet, I would say this type of song is what represents their style. They sound the same live. Very talented singers. Background s are opera/classical training, rocker and a musical actor. I believe the song writer is Valensia, he is a Dutch singer/composer influenced by queen. They are known for their covers...another original of theirs is White Night>> beautiful song

They sing this live at their concerts. I was fortunate to hear them in Los Angeles. It was stunning ! I have been following Forestella for 4 years. Every song they have performed is unique and perfectly executed. But nothing prepared me for this. I think, reactor Fil of ‘the Fable Sphere’ came up with the best interpretation of the three songs… “ Save our Lives”, “ Utopia” and “ White Night”.

BAD ROMANCE PLEASE
So Kpop can have many definitions. So many times "Kpop" is thrown out without being defined which adds to the confusion. Its like putting ALL of Western popular music in one box--how do you do that? It depends on what definition you are using, and people better than me have explained the nuances. Forestella is first and foremost a crossover group, but they have elements of the Kpop genre such as attention to visual detail and performance, which you saw in this MV, and the ways they interact with their fans (they even have a lightstick). But they are not part of the Idol system of Kpop, which is what most people think of when the word "Kpop" is used. They are Korean singers who are very popular and have become very well-known and respected in Korean music. I met several Korean Americans who came to Forestella's concert in L.A. who told me that their family and friends in S. Korea were shocked that they could get tickets, which is nigh to impossible in S.Korea. They were also shocked that I, a non-Korean American, knew of them. 😂
일디보와 같은 4중창을 만드는게 목표인 오디션 프로그램 '팬텀싱어2'를 통해 결성되었다.
맨처음 레째로테너 '조민규'가 같은 학교 후배인 베이스 '고우림'과 팀을 결성해서 듀엣 경연에서 상대팀( 뮤지컬배우'배두훈'과 유명한 오페라 바리톤가수 'Julien Kim')을 이겼다.
그 다음단계인 트리오 경연에서 상대팀이었던 '배두훈'을 영입해서 팀을 만들었다. 그리고 경연에서 좋은 성적을 거두었다.
한편 당시 롯데캐미칼 기업의 화학연구원을 하던 '강형호'는 음악을 전공하지 않았음에도 불구하고 그의 순수한 노래실력으로 독주,듀엣,트리오 경연에서 살아 남았지만 같이 했던 팀원들은 다 탈락하여 혼자 결승까지 갔다.
마지막 콰르텟을 결성 할 때 심사위원들이 강형호를 포레스트팀(배두훈,조민규,고우림)에 합류시켰다.
이때 강형호는 오페라의유령의 남여파트 모두를 완벽하게 불러서 사람들을 놀라게하고 무척 유명해져서 별명이 'star'였다.

Brilliant first choice to experience Forestella in all their glory. I, too, was reminded of Bohemian Rhapsody the first time I heard this.
If you decide to watch "Kool" (another original and done to please their fans), please be kind. Seeing it in the midst of a concert or hearing it over my car radio makes more sense. This has more to do with my prejudice of how I want to see them then the production quality of the MV or the song itself which is a bit of a throwback to old fashion R&R. imho
Yes, you're right, each voice in this group has a unique, very different texture, together they create a wonderfully fulfilling sound that gets under your skin. However, their voices sound rather caricatured in this song (in keeping with the overall presentation of the message, which has a slightly "biting undertone"). In other songs their voices come into their own better. Ko WooRim (Basso-Profundo) is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL TRUE BASS and amazes everyone with his lead vocals. With a honey-warm sound and a resonance like a subwoofer, he effortlessly reaches the deep grave and on the other hand the tenor range. Same applies to Kang HyungHo, who on the one hand has a very powerful, sonorous rock voice and on the other hand one of the most beautiful ANGELIC HEAD VOICE, with which he effortlessly sings the PUREEST CRYSTAL CLEAR SOPRANO. The other two Cho Mingyu (tenor) and Bae DooHoon (bari/tenor) also have has a very large vocal range and extremely beautiful, sensitive timbres, which unfortunately don't always come into their own in the "middle field". I recommend their versions of "Scarborough Fair" and "Hijo de la Luna" (more classic and with inimitable harmonies) for your vocal analysis, or "Bad Romance" ("completely turned upside down" and not for nothing 14 million views within 1 year)

YES!!! Super excited, as a Dimash Dear this group is the closest musically to Dimash with the diversity in genres within one song, the messages within the songs (their originals), vocally incredible. Important to know the this is part 2 of a Trilogy, Save Our Lives is the first song from the Trilogy. To get a different perspective Bad Romance, Je Suis Malade, Scarborough Fair, Despasito various languages and genres, incredibly theatrical and talented, the originals definitely have messages, which I love, kind of just like Dimash, The Story Of One Sky. Symbolism, creativity, you never know what to expect and when they do a cover, the make it their own interpretation, not mimicking the original. Based on your appreciation of Dimash, these 4 are right up your alley, looking forward to more Dimash and Forestella, my top selections of music. BTW, you are both so entertaining and I like Shirley Jones❤.
INFO: My understanding is Forestella was formed on a show called "Phantom Singer" They are a cross over group, doing all genres of music, including their speciality which is classical. They later appeared on a variety show called "Immortal song" which is a weekly competition of 6 performers trying to go against each other with the audience deciding who wins the weekly trophy. There is always 6 rounds to an episodes and forestella have always at least won once even if they didnt get the trophy. They have however won many trophies over the years of participating on the show. They have even won the king of kings which is the best artists of year going against each other. But they have won that as well 4 times if memory serves. They do classical songs which some names escape me, but they have also sung breathtaking songs like Time in a bottle, scarborough farir, shape of you, bad romance, yes even queen. They have such unique vocals they blend their voices so beautifully, and even which they reach the top they bend notes to suit the song and even had the best of singers awe struck at their abilities as a group. They are becoming more and more known now and even tour as well, to my understanding. Depending on your choice there are some above and some who are more familiar with the classical songs could name some amazing ones their. I know the songs by ear but not my names. So that is a short run down of my understanding of forestella. You will never go wrong in reviewing and reacting to these guys again. In fact you will be amazed. BTW one of your comments about you know its done in a studio, even senior artists have thought the same thing alot about them is edited and stunned when they hear them live.

Wow! They won a singing competition performing well known covers live on tv. Seems odd that you would start a new artist journey with an over produced video of a lesser known song.
I highly recommend that you give yourselves another chance to be introduced to what they do best.- sing and harmonize live. Here’s just a few Despacito, Bad Romance, Je Suis Malade, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence.

It's a pleasure to listen to Forasttela with you, I met them through the presentation they gave as Hijo de la luna from the Spain group Mecano, and that's where they caught me. I never get tired of listening to the Tributes because they are more than covers that these 4 guys with their wonderful voices make of the most famous songs in many languages, from queen to ultimamante despacito by Luis Fonsi. I hope you can listen to some of those songs. They are better live, you will see that you will not regret it. After BTS, they are the ones I listen to, and after Mamamoo, I also recommend them.💜
