- A viewer asked about breeding Caiques, specifically about their breeding age and giving them a box.
Some parrots, like humans, don’t want to breed or can’t. These don’t seem common-
I like giving my Caiques a nest box because they like sleeping in it, regardless of their age. When they are old enough and ready, they will then use it to breed.
Breeding can be encouraged by keeping your parrot on a healthy diet, keeping their cage clean and giving seeds when they would be available in the wild, in the winter. These, combined with access to sunlight, will trigger parrots that are ready and healthy.

I need to buy two one male and one female
Do you know how long they stay fertile? Some said they can breed up to 7years, others 15, etc.
I spoke to a breeder once - she said her Caiques would produce less eggs/fertile eggs as they got older. I don't recall too well, but I think they bred for 20, maybe more. She took EXCELLENT care of them, including fresh vegetables, outdoors and clean cages. Space to fly helps too. All of these affect a parrot's ability to keep reproducing.

The bracelet? Around 2 weeks. Before that it will fall off. After 3 weeks, it is too hard to get on.
