I find it strange how QR number their platforms. Stations north of Central have platform 1 for citybound services and platform 2 for outbound services, as it is in the rest of the country, while stations south of Central have platform 2 for citybound services and platform 1 for outbound services. It seems to be very confusing.

+ThebusofdoomFSX this is how it normally is for most stations. platform 1 is for trains heading south. platform 2 are for trains heading north. exceptions to this are stations with single platforms. Nambour as platform 2 is either the buffer platform so its trains south and platform 1 is bi-directional or its revered. then there is Caboolture. platform 1 is north. 2 is south and 3 is terminating. mostly south but sometimes has northern bound trains but all platforms are bi-directional petrie is another exception. 1 is north. 2 is south 3 is terminating and south bound. and the new platforms 4 is north and 5 is south. Sandgate is 1 is north 2 is south. Shorncliffe is single platform. ascot is dual platform but only 1 is used same for Doomben. central is another exception as the tracks split into 2 different tracks so 1 and 2 are south. 3 and 4 are north 5 is south and 6 is north. platform 2 can also have trains terminating from the south to turn around. roma street. 1 is bus platform. 2 is bi-direction but standard gauge trains terminate making it mostly a south platform. platform 3 is bi-directional with standard gauge again but is mostly used for heritage trains and trains heading north. 4 and 5 are south only. 6 and 7 are bi directional but mostly north trains. 8 can be used for north and south as it has the ekka loop and trains can terminate at the platform coming from the south as it is south bound mostly. platform 9 is the same thing but reversed. and platform 10 is north only bi-directional because of ekka loop but is only attached to ekka loop and central. other exceptions are terminating stations like Springfield central with 2 used platforms. Ipswich with 1 as south only as a terminating platform with yard attachment. platform 2 is bi directional that mostly does south and terminations with yard connection. 3 is bi that mostly does south and terminations 4 is bi that mostly does north and terminations. rosewood has 2 platforms but only platform 1 is in use. then all the other exceptions are 2 platform termination stations that use both tracks like Springfield central, which are ferny grove. domestic airport. which mostly uses platform 1 but both are used. varsity lakes, Cleveland. other ones that are weird are manly that has terminations on both platforms. and trains leaving on the wrong platform. and I'm not sure which platform is which at manly. Beenleigh is a weird one platform 1 is south and terminating and north. 2 is terminating north and north express. and stations from Kuraby to coopers plains. 1 is south and 2 and 3 are north. with Kuraby having all 3 used as terminations and coopers plains having 2 as terminating cannon hill uses either 1 or 2 as termination or both, I haven't checked yet. northgate has 1 terminating and south. 2 terminating and south and north 3 south and north and 4 north and that's all I can think of at the top of my head. and if anyone is still reading if you want some train spotting go to northgate either at morning peak or afternoon peak what some trains do is very odd. and also go to Beenleigh at any time
