I'm still remember a quotes from Clarkson .... After some several crash " looks, even the speedometer tell me that we are going 40" Hilux never disappointed us ...
unbreakable? the only way this would be unbreakable is if they went back to a much more agricultural platform with solid axles all round, steel bumpers and over engineered running gear. But everyone just wants a hilux to take the kids to school these days.
+gureno19 You hit the nail on the head. Give me a live front and rear axle and steel front and rear bumpers - hence the reason I will never get rid of my 80 series Landcruiser. No plastic crap all over it.. Solid steel bull bar with 12,000 Lb want winch and solid rear bumper with twin spare wheel and 250 litre diesel tank of fuel. Changed the six cylinder petrol for a 1HZ diesel and changed the front and rear diff ratios to suit the diesel engine.
+gureno19 The Hilux is aimed at a different market, its really only a medium offroader. The designers have gone to refining the creature comforts more then the throw around the paddock, if you want that type of ruggedness the go the 70 series. I personal have a GX 78 made in 2012 and it is as rugged as I need it to be, the V8 is outstanding and it handles far and away better then the old 70 series.
stokerkahles couldnt agree with you more in regards to them separating those two segments, and obviously it was the right move as well with the amount of Sales they have picked up over the past decade. I just dislike how they market it the same way they did the old hilux, when in reality its now so far removed from its heritage.
+gureno19 People these days also want realistic ride comfort, fuel economy, and something that won't fold like a deck-chair in a crash! (like the old ones would), oh and some real world hp and towing ability. The old hilux's wouldn't have towed my old mans boat (legally or illegally)..
one comment , here in middle east we get the famous 2.7 petrol , 2.4 and 3.0 D4D and I driven all of them , they all came with back vents for rear passengers even the base trims
I test drove one last weekend, only on the blacktop a d without load. Yes of course it feels strong with no load, or course the suspension feels stiff and hard with no load... still a leaf spring ute with a 1 tonne capacity boot.I was impressed with the underbody protection and the out-of-harms-way placement of brake lines etc. only the new Nissan Navarra is comparable, the Colorado, Triton and Ford/Mazda are real let downs underneath with ridiculous exposure. What I object to in this review is regurgitating the manufacturer's spin without question. More suspension articulation you parrot... how much more, is it 2mm more or is it a significant increase - and how does it compare to the other vehicles in this class? We know the "bigger fuel tank" is all of 4 litres bigger - better than the previous model, but very marginally so. So let's not just swallow the promotional spin without question, what do you say?
They don't sell these trucks here in Cali, rented plenty of hilux while traveling, I'm about to purchase a 2012 2.5 hilux for 18k (u.s.) in Nicaragua, love the 2016, but not enough to finance one, I can't imagine dogging these truck that cost me around 38k (u.s.) in really bad roads with gravel, rocks, sand, dust, branches hanging out the side, and don't forget crossing rivers where you can't see what's down there after a heavy down pour, giving hitch hikers rides where they always want to grab on to the paint section of the bed, well yeah, not a good life for a fancy truck, not sure about the 2016 hilux but a 2012-15 hilux can take what ever road Nicaragua has to offer
wich one should i buy for using it for everyday driving in the city mitsubishi triton 2016 mazda bt50 2016 toyota hilux 2016 if you think of another one please mention it
Tacoma and Tundra are too big and heavy, the Hilux has a good level of potency and is much lighter, that is already a big obstacle, the American models could never reach the places that a Hilux would arrive.
where are the USB chargers for the front and back seats? I prefare the back seats USB to be located in the back of front seats at the upper side corners to avoid nocking them with the knees.
I have just seen a video about the Toyota hilux failing the stability control test or moose test so if you want to be safe better not buying the Toyota hilux.
what moose test your talking about..hilux pass at 67kph..more than that is in danger..beside who will drive in zigzag mode??? HiLux is the best reliable pick up truck..
had the chance to test drive one. Its a camry on stilts. i find the auto is rather slow to shift, as you said if you put your foot down even the slightest in top gear, the auto likes to downshift. The manual shifts smoothly and is equally as comfortable. But it accelerates like a brick. Its nice offroad but its outpaced by most of its competitors. For my purposes i don't need the 4x4 and in my country this this is considerably more expensive than all its competitors and it was even outperformed by a Wingle. I'm a bit disappointed. But it pretty to look at.
+annubissl I have a far and use a Land Cruiser and it is amazing. I borrowed a Hilux for the farm for a few weeks and it was just out of this world. It is a simple nonsense machine. They are built to be hardcore off road vehicles.
+annubissl Maybe because you are not its intended market, it is meant to be abused and bashed like a workhorse versus the sedan-like ride and cheeky electronics of the new navarra and the ranger, in short its not a 'lifestyle' vehicle but a 4x4 rig.
ok lets say your're right its touted as a 4x4 work rig. Still lackluster in my view. Now i will use pricing in my country's currency. There are no base models available yet.mid spec and fully loaded variants are the only thing the dealers have to offer right now. Top spec 4x4 Auto Trans Hilux costs about $390,000. OTD. approx $350,000 for the manual. Now 2.8 Holden/Chevy Colorado 4x4 fully loaded with all the bells and whistles runs approx $290,000 OTD. Fair enough the Navara with is rear coils wont last as a work mule. but my 4 year old Chevy has held its own against daily abuse as a work horse. even if i were to buy one brand spanking new again, it still pulls harder, runs faster and does all that i need it to do (if we're saying its not meant to cheeky gadget laden sedan), while costing less to buy and maintain. On a whole Toyota vehicles though good, are over priced in my country. And for the supposed "king of the road" the new Hilux has been a disappointment in face of competitors. Maybe they'll get it right in the next iteration, but currently the competition ( at least in my country) has more to offer for a better price.
+CarAdvice.com.au God forbid why the 4tuner is coming here when the 6th Generation or is it the 7th Generation 4runner is a far better vehicle. Cant see the 4tuner being a big seller as its doesnt fit anywhere . Prado, Kluger, Rav 4 . Something has to go but would personally import the 4runner in preference to the 4tuner.
cool review ☺ just one thing though mate you wrong about fittings a pallet on the 2016 model because its exactly 1.2 wide between the rear wheels arches, sorry but i had to correct you☺👍
+ManosHAF - have a look at this: www.caradvice.com.au/388419/ute-comparison-ford-ranger-v-holden-colorado-v-isuzu-d-max-v-mazda-bt-50-v-mitsubishi-triton-v-nissan-navara-v-toyota-hilux-v-volkswagen-amarok-2/
1.2 between the arches buddy i guarantee you it fits ive put more than 30 pallets in my 2016 sr5 without a issue measure its again and get back to me lol
It should take fortuner design where it should look like the big truck .. Where as ford rapter has got that design but its not best as hilux. It should be more tup..even in design
+Bro Fessor Why? Toyota provides a range of choices for everyone. You want to be eco friendly, you buy a prius. You want utility and towing power you buy a hilux. Toyota, like any company, exists to make money. They don't have to operate according to the whims of a few morally uptight people
TheCODE REDkid The Tacoma is a US market pick up. The Hilux is sold in its place in overseas markets like Australia and New Zealand. We don't have the Tacoma here, so I guess my comment isn't relevant to American markets
Incorrect. Your Chevy Colorado is a USA assembled version of our Thai manufactured Holden Colorado (Holden being our local subsidiary of GMC). Both of which are badge engineered Isuzu DMax, with adaptations to meet local market expectations. You don't have the 2.8 L diesel until 2016, we have had it since 2012 release of the vehicle - only available here as a common rail, direct jnjection diesel. But we have front dics brakes and rear drums, your Chevy has disc brakes front and rear. So the refinement of the 2.8L duramax diesel and associated NVH improvements have already been made from experience elsewhere. The Hilux is reasonably equivalent to your Tacoma, Hilux is what the rest of the world gets and it is superior to Tacoma. We don't have your full size utes, partly because they are manufactured in America for the USA market (consequence of your protectionist nanny state), we would love them but over in Australia we drive on the correct side of the road, and your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the vehicle, so we have to convert them to right hand driving position to meet international driving rules. One day you will pick up the metric system and driving on the left side of the road and the world will live in bliss. But that will be long after the demise of the fuss size pickup, so who cares.
Gotta a feeling that the Triton might be the segment winner this time around. I think the Navara will be overpriced with the Toyota and Nissan have the tendency to not be reliable. BT50 and Ranger even though they are receiving and have received facelifts is still previous gen and the 3.2 is lazy regarding the size it is and the power it puts out. The Amarok is also a bit aged and previous gen and with that said overpriced for what you get and the Isuzu it is a great pickup but also aged and aged the most of all. The only major thing they updated in the last 20 odd years are the looks and size. The 2.4GLS Triton looks like a winner for me so far reasons for my opinion is the price compared to the others it is way below the price of the others, Even though the towing capacity and load bay is lower and smaller than that of the competition it is not that big a factor since you will most probably never need to haul a load of 3.5 tons with your "Sunday" pickup since the main factor for the luxury Double cabs are having a little bit of a workhorse on your family vehicle. The selling points arount the 2.4GLS is also good this time around with the paddleshift and better feel in the interior as the previous gen had a plastic feel all over it and lets be honest looked ugly everywhere except at the front where the new model looks gorgeous all round.
People of my generation do not understand Bert Newtons Meters or its Kill `o Watts. How about talking horsepower and ft/lbs of torque as well so that we the unfortunate are baffled by those who spruik the lingo that we dont understand.Never has so much been spoken by so few to those who know so little. A for being quiter then the old 3.0 litre engine, which in reality is or was the Toyota Surf engine which was pretty much bullet proof and didnt need common rail diesel which is a big Negative for serious off roaders who spend a great deal of time in the bush. The slightest bit of dirt in a common rail diesel is a recipe for a catastrophic engine failure is all to common. The interior is good, but the rear seats need more legroom and the back of the seat is to upright. With so little articulation a diff lock front and rear is a must. LED running lights are too bright for daylight use.l Bloody infuriating when those vehicles are coming towards you in broad daylight. Ford Everest might just topple Toyota Hilux.
They disappointed and made a huge error with the motor. Try climbing a steep hill on a highway in a manual. It loses it's grunt quickly and down the gears you go! They should have at least gone to a 3.2 Litre, then I would have replaced my current Hilux with the new one...Now, not a chance!
I'm still remember a quotes from Clarkson
.... After some several crash
" looks, even the speedometer tell me that we are going 40"
Hilux never disappointed us ...
Hilux is still the best Ute's of all the pickup trucks due to its quality, durability and reliability.
obly durability and reliability quality is not top notch
I'm watching this from the U.S and when he got into the back seat I was like shit! who's driving! silly brain playing tricks on me.
Lol
illuminati approved
+Marcelo M hahaha me too!!
+Marcelo M The back seat is for the sheilas, mate
+Marcelo M same here ... cars here are left hand drive..

If only Toyota would offer it in the US.
I love Hilux Design!..Tough & Modern
The best Ute on this planet
+Btoplus hastam And the 70 series landcruiser dual cab.
+Damien Beckett agreed.
+Btoplus hastam You obviously haven't driven a Ranger ?.
To be honest no but, i had couple of Hilux
AustinPetDetective Another of Australia's finest ute.

Is it the best in it's class? If any of it's rivals have switched their Power steering to EPS then by default the Hilux should win.
Could you install a .50 cal anti air gun at the back?
She has arrived in Brazil, as model 2016!
Halks 2016 fantastic better than before and is considered the best-selling in Saudi Arabia
Triton any day although a Comparative review would be nice..
Had the chance to be in one of these in the rainforest hills of French Guiana. Would love to see these in the USA.
How much $. What options are there, will a fully optioned unit come in under the luxury tax.
Where about's in Victoria is this offroad course?
Meanwhile in the Philippines. They still have those cheap headlights on their high end variant.
I really think that he should have stopped the vehicle first before trying out the back seats.
Pretty awesome move though ;)
wich one should i buy for using it for everyday driving in the city
mitsubishi triton 2016
mazda bt50 2016
toyota hilux 2016
if you think of another one please mention it
Nissan Frontier NP300
between ford ranger and hilux. i love the ranger when it comes to design, engine and specs.when it comes to ride height, hilux gets it
hydraulic steering! Hallelujah !! Is this the only new vehicle in 2015 that doesn't have crappy electronically assisted Power Steering?
metcard : The Mazda BT50 has hydraulic power steering
Need this in the U.S. :0
Tacoma.
+guru gara u have the tundra, or Tacoma?
Tacoma and Tundra are too big and heavy, the Hilux has a good level of potency and is much lighter, that is already a big obstacle, the American models could never reach the places that a Hilux would arrive.
Do they have self drive??
Sound of the door says it all
does he mentioned the consumption of the vehicle?
just wondering!!
where are the USB chargers for the front and back seats? I prefare the back seats USB to be located in the back of front seats at the upper side corners to avoid nocking them with the knees.
3LITRE D4d is what made toyota so popular and hopefully this engine can be rock solid otherwise the other utes far outdoes the hilux in other features
I have just seen a video about the Toyota hilux failing the stability control test or moose test so if you want to be safe better not buying the Toyota hilux.
Jaime T Rubio III whats a moose test?? this is an Australian video. we dont have moose here. and if we did, we wouldnt swerve for them anyway champ
Michael Spano what
Which part did u not understand?
Michael Spano it's just called a moose test
what moose test your talking about..hilux pass at 67kph..more than that is in danger..beside who will drive in zigzag mode??? HiLux is the best reliable pick up truck..
Hurray. Toyota have got a up to date dash at last. Looks very modern and nice. Now giving vw a run for its money in refinement.
i can't wait to see it in Argentina

Where in Victoria were these tracks? Need to take my Prado off road more
Love my Hilux and mt 79 ute, and so does ISIS :D
So why arent there any in the US ??
I could see the Fortuner in the background 1:00 to 1:05.. Which means that u have already reviewed it!! pls upload the video soon. Thanks
+scorpionbeware thats not the fortuner. That's a gray Hilux
+scorpionbeware Fortuner is only available for third world countries, like the Phils, Thailand, Indonesia, Burma, etc.
+Vit Sim16 I think you mean grey not gray ??????
+tonichi bagatsing I am not sure if Indonesia and Thailand are still third world countries as they have changed a lot since last 10 to 15 years

Hi i see your video, this car is very nice. How i can get it to Mozambique? Total price including shipment to Maputo-Mozambique?
+Momade Hanifo Abdul Chahamo Adamo - it would be a bloody long drive. better option up the snorkel too...
Good review.

I'll get back to you with the info
Pls do a comparison. Hilux, Ranger, Navara, Triton, Amarok.
Is this better then the American Tundra?
Hmmmmmm..... I can't really answer that cause both are freaking awesome but if you included the Tacoma I think it would beat the hilux and tundra.
Hmmmmmm..... I can't really answer that cause both are freaking awesome but if you included the Tacoma I think it would beat the hilux and tundra.
+TheCODE REDkid Tacoma will beat tundra? doesn't the tundra have more pulling power, and is bigger
how big is the bed in meters
+lucas chapman - about 1.5m wide and 1.6m long
i like ford ranger but hilux is common in philippines... any suggestions?
does this hilux need a turbo timer to be installed?
Not on diesel, even with a turbo these trucks are extremely slow,
+Arnaldo gonzalez but then the turbo stands the Chance of flooding not so?
Who was driving
You also get a plastic steering wheel, which compliments the plastic dashboard
can you do a review on the all new fortuner.

just one thing though mate you wrong about fittings a pallet on the 2016 model because its exactly 1.2 wide between the rear wheels arches, sorry but i had to correct you☺👍
An Australian pallet is 1165mm square - and width between arches is 1109mm - so it doesn't fit.
what off road specs does it have e.g. locking differential, low range gear box
and can you add a winch
lucas chapman hi and low range auto stabilization rear diff lock winch bull bar
A Rizk all new toyota fortuner problem kya hai
ranger vs hilux vs navara vs amarok vs dmax who wins please answer and explain

Do you know if the Hilux is sold in Canada ?
Hilux is the best piqup if you mean something else...
Well it depends on who review and compare them 😊
1.2 between the arches buddy
i guarantee you it fits ive put more than 30 pallets in my 2016 sr5 without a issue
measure its again and get back to me lol
HI guys here in South America the hilux comes with 3.0 cc turbo diesel motor not the 2.8 cc motor any ideas way?
That's because most of our countries does not have the quality of diesel required for those engines (euro 4 or 5)
Fran Ferrario we have the 2.8 in argentina.
That might be true Tomas for Argentina but we in Paraguay get the new model hilux with the 3.0 motor

is this better than a Land cruiser off road ?
Akmal Hassan no. nothing is better than a Landcruiser off road
When is the fortuner review coming
Soon soon...
+CarAdvice.com.au 2016 lexus plz
How I can import to Mozambique, Maputo?
guys how can quiet make an engine refined ?
This mate is such a Toyota Fanboy
I thought the landcruiser workmate was the toughest
It should take fortuner design where it should look like the big truck ..
Where as ford rapter has got that design but its not best as hilux.
It should be more tup..even in design
Why u use Fortuner Mags
5:00 No one has mentioned it has auto pilot......
i love hilux concoest4x4MT 2019
700mm wading depth for a new pick up? Ford Ranger has been doing 800mm for a while now.
This guy is obviously a toyota fanboy.
I hope all the features & accessories are in the African Models. Toyota introduced quite some luxuries in the New Hilux
Mitsubishi claims that their L200 is best in class. I beg to differ. Please do a comparative review, including the new Navara & Ranger. Cheers!
More electronics in a 4x4 means more failures off rd that require a specialist to fix

this is what I'm thinking!
What do you suggest? I'm planning to get a midsize pickup truck.
they should make a trd pro model
In another review you criticized the Tacoma for the "knees up position". LOOK AT YOUR KNEES HERE! It looks like you're going to give birth!
LoL.
This truck is literally built for Canada.
My future truck. 😍
Yeah same to me
Why the USA can't have this?
I love those coolers the only car I can think of that has one besides Mercedes and such is the caliber

The selling points arount the 2.4GLS is also good this time around with the paddleshift and better feel in the interior as the previous gen had a plastic feel all over it and lets be honest looked ugly everywhere except at the front where the new model looks gorgeous all round.
it looks kind of like a boat when viewed from the sides....
They should have at least gone to a 3.2 Litre, then I would have replaced my current Hilux with the new one...Now, not a chance!
u didn't let us hear it start
