Streaming Services Are Becoming One

- Warner Bros Discovery and Disney are combining their streaming services Max, Disney+ and Hulu in a massive combo deal for consumers. This is in direct competition to other streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and more. Is it a good strategy for Warner Bros Discovery and Hulu to work together?

They should just combine all the streaming services into one big streaming service that chooses what you watch for you and call it “cable.”

@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp I grew up on Family Video, and I can agree that there's something magical about walking in and picking a movie to watch for the weekend.
@@maximillianlylat1589 I get how that’s easy and free, but it makes it harder for companies to earn money when people do that, which leads to some potentially going out of business.
Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here, but I personally don't mind this. A major complaint about streaming is there is way too many services, so to watch everything you'd need to pay for multiple services. But services sharing content with each other means that it's easier to watch our favorite shows and movies. Also, people are calling this a new version of cable, but see it as a better version of cable since you can watch whatever you want whenever you want. Maybe I'm sounding too optimistic, but that's just what I think.

So Disney and Warner Bros went from being rivals with each other to friends? What's next? Are they gonna team up with Dreamworks if they get a streaming service someday?
Well yes
There actually Partners
There like Superpower Companies
Technically, DreamWorks already has a streaming service: Peacock, since DreamWorks is owned by NBCUniversal, but Peacock might be merging with Paramount Plus. Again, not a company merger. Just a joint streaming service.
@Goldstar_ I forgot that Peacock is jointing streaming with Paramount. Pretty neat, would feel right for Mario and Shrek meet with Sonic and Spongebob. How exciting 😁
@Vailskibum My only problem and concern with this is that how this could potentially lead to a merger and that WB could "mistakenly" cancel Disney's own content and say they're tax write-offs.
Streaming services are cooked 😭
how
Not really, this bundle as Vail said will be cheaper than buying them separately.
Ok communist
I called this when every studio started pulling their content from Netflix to start their own failing streaming services - I knew there would come a time when they realized that they f-ed up and started to offer these kinds of bundled deals. They all had the same pie with Netflix, but decided to take their little slices of pie and realized that those slices were too small and now want to share their pie slices with each other to make a bigger slice.
...
Dammit now I want some pie.
This is one of the reasons why I like cable/satellite television and DVDs/Blu-rays more than streaming services.
Mass Histeria! WB and Disney coming together. Let the nightmare begin.
Oh god damn. Well I guess that leaves other streaming services obsolete
Almost. Some paid streaming services still have their own shows but the majority of them is not good. I think the biggest "friendly" competitor for them is Netflix, until Disney buys them. Either way, we gone full circle to oligopolies.
@@hazyworld8626This is ruining Small Business
I would try and make a Dulu Max joke, but I’m too scared about the future of animation right now. If there even is any.
Actually remember yesterday I was at my friend's house and I was watching Wall-E on Disney plus but then as I exited, I saw Sailor Moon on the anime section of Disney plus and I was like "excuse me what?"

@@evanrosman9226 Disney doesn't own WB either. It's a joint streaming venture, not a merger.

Well, it makes sense because Disney owns Hulu and Disney+ and Hulu has more of the adult programming, but they’re trying to integrate Hulu onto Disney+ and Hulu already has a deal with Max customers so it makes sense that all three will somehow become a bundle.
We’re going back to cable now
Not really, I mean as Vail said this bundle will be cheaper than all three separately.

The new intro feels like a step back, it reminds me of those cheap tutorials that'll not have voice. the old had that feeling of hyping you up while this one winds me down
This does make sense as WB allows Disney to put their content on Hulu, so as long as nothing is being taken off these services they should be good. Any way to watch the content for a cheaper option is better

One of the biggest reasons why most of Disney’s movies have been so unsuccessful over the past few years is since they have a big streaming service that all of their content eventually goes to, most people just wait for the movies to release on the service so they can watch it for free instead of paying for overpriced movie tickets.
I’m just afraid the same kind of thing will happen to these other companies since when they merge with Disney+.

i think this is a good idea. If some show on multiple streaming services gets taken of its original service, it’s now available only of the others, like That Girl Lay Lay and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom got taken of Paramount+, and Bunk’d got taken of Disney+, but all of them are on Netflix! Now I can restore my memories! :)

I was in film school from 2016-2020. From basically freshman year, students and professors were talking about how we were headed back to cable, once someone makes the jump and bundles streaming services. Congrats, yall, we made on-demand cable again. 😊
I think this is not bad. There are to many different Services anyway and many only get 1. Which means that many Shows get less views than they could.
I just wish they would finally release the Hulu and Max stuff where i live on Disney+. For example there is no way to watch some Cartoon Network Shows over here (officially without VPN or whatever) And i would like to see this being changed.
