That is a novel idea for winning time, they should keep the show going by going from Dynasty to Dynasty. Lakers - Celtics - Pistons - Bulls etc… that way you can introduce players as secondary characters and then show how they became superstars and champions.
If I didn't know who Salley is and you told me he's 40, I'd totally believe you. It's crazy how well he's aged, does not look close to 58. It's not just the physical appearance, he's also managed to keep his voice and mannerisms "young" as well. To put things in perspective, Chuck Daly was 58 when the Pistons won their first title in 1989. Think about how old he looked and sounded.
Sal is 100% right about Jerry West when he says, "Without West they don't win." Plan and simple, Jerry West and Red are the two best evaluators of talent in the history of the NBA. And oddly enough the Lakers and Celtics have perhaps more championships than any teams in professional sports history. Why would they do a movie without hiring West as a consultant behooves me. Rodman is one of the greatest defenders in NBA history, but people act like he was the first non-big averaging 20 rebounds per game or what not. Lakers and NBA Great who was Jordan before Jordan... Elgin Baylor, and he scored to boot. Small Forward that could average 25+ ppg and 15-20 rebounds.
Well, the thing to remember is that rebounds per game reflect pace of the game and number of missed shots. In Baylor's best rebounding season, the pace in the league was about 127 possessions per game, average FG% was below 42%. When Rodman peaked at 18.7 rpg in 1991-1992, the pace was only 97 possessions per game, average FG% was over 47%. So in Baylor's time, there were so many more missed shots per game to be rebounded because of the extra possessions and worse shooting. The 20 rebounds per game people talk about now is reflective of today's slower game (last season was 98 possessions) and better shooting. At the rate Rodman was rebounding in his prime, he could've grabbed nearly 30 a game in the 1960.
