I always heard the circus clown music in the music before (Entry of the Gladiators), but now people have pointed out that it also sounds like the original Inspector Gadget theme (not the new one, as that is based on Hall of the Mountain King, & also sounds very similar to the Trollfest Song from Trolls), I cannot unhear it.
You can really hear the Inspector Gadget theme at the intro (& at 0:38 as pointed out by Adrian R.), & Entry of the Gladiators part plays at 0:20, & made more obvious at 1:55 by the remix.
So it sounds like if Sonic & Inspector Gadget teamed up to fight a MAD clown with Badnik circus animals & clowns as minions.
I've also always imagined a bad future remix of Mystic Cave to have the part at 2:47 be the same, but at 0.75x speed & have a heavier bass, but putting the video at 0.75x speed at this part sounds close, but without the rest of the song.

Which is worse? The Barrel or the Pit?
The Pit. The Barrel was easier for me to figure out on a first try. The Pit is nearly unavoidable in Sonic 2.
@@_PuppetMaster86 I don't remember falling in this pit in any case, just once because I jump inside to see if there's some secret lol
The barrel. The pit is an easy trap to fall into, and although it's annoying enough having to wait for Super Sonic to run out of rings, you can easily learn to avoid it next time due to it being a trap designed to kill you.
The barrel is very much like the goat puzzle in Broken Sword, in that it requires you to use a gameplay method that only appears once and was never alluded to previously, with your best bet back in the day being to either luck out yourself, lend it to a friend who lucks out, hope against hope that you pick up a magazine with the exact solution printed on it, or phone a hotline. Otherwise, your progress is brought to a complete halt.
That's why the Saturn port gives you the option to remove the barrel, why the Origins port added those new sprites to help give a clue, and why the goat puzzle was made easier in the GBA port and Director's Cut of Broken Sword.
