- Ever since Wescott came out with the flexible LED mats they've become a great tool in filmmakers kits. However they were expensive and most other companies like Falconeyes kept the price up. I had no idea Godox had LED mats as they weren't as mainstream in the influencer space. Well here they are! The Godox FL150 are large LED mats that pack a great punch, check out this review to see what you can expect from them.

this is a very, very useful clip - just what I was looking for as I investigated these LED mats for a very specific use case I have.
Thanks for the detailed review
Hey hey again Baila!
You're most welcome! Thanks as always for stopping by in the comments!
Great review.
FL150s owner here. for the price, is the best you can get but keep in mind, there are some drawbacks:
- You can't go under 10%, its pretty bright even at the lowest setting, and while using the remote, it can't go under 25%, you need to manually change it.
- Short cable, as said in the video.
- Kinda inaccurate kelvin renditions, you should expect this from any light but 3300K is actually 3200K, which could be good but 5600K is actually 5200K. If you add a diffusion layer, it goes to 4900K-5000K. From 5500K to 5600K it jumps almost 500K (could be exclusive to my unit). If you need precision, go with the Amaran F22C.
But overall, high cri, great build quality and lightweight. Definitely shouldn't be your first light.

could it work as a key light for 2-4 people?
Good review! Thanks.

I looked at these at NAB. I was trying to decide between these and the Aputure ones. Still leaning towards the Aputure ones. Great review as always!
Hey hey again Steven!
Aputure definitely has the entire eco system behind them where as these lights still use the older 2.4ghz app and not the new one. But for people who don't necessarily need that type of setup, these are some nice budget options!
Very useful in terms of giving you an idea about lux and the comparisons to traditional lighting, thanks. to Is the 2x2 the 60cm squared one please?
Amazing review thank you! Clicked on your link to look at the extension cable but the link seems broken?
Seeing Godox for one of these had me excited. Thought they would be cheaper though. Great review.
Hey hey again Coalition Gaming!
I hear ya, one would assume these would be cheaper these days. It's definitely better than the $700 it used to be when the first 3rd parties first came out that were budget versions. In hindsight when taking into account how much power the Godox is putting out using SMD LED's, instead of Lenses LEDs, coupled with the form factor it's actually about on par with other 100w SMD LED Panels that start around $300. Hopefully we continue to see these panels get down to the $100-200 levels in the next couple years.
I like you! keep up the good work
Me too!
Hey hey again YoungBlaze and Sam!
Always appreciate you guys popping in!
I did not know this, either!! And I love Godox. I feel like a fool. A fool!!
Hey hey again Mark!
Haha that makes the two of us! Glad to know they have it and hopefully we see more updated versions of their LED MATS to include RGB, more sizes, and the update to their new Godox Light App!
Thanks for the helpful content. Great sound. Can you please tell me which microphone you are using? Thank you.
Hey hey И К!
The microphone I use is the RODE Videomic NTG. I did a review here: ua-cam.com/video/b_ijgoO93e0/v-deo.html
What would be your recommendation for balancing the sunlight in a heavy truck driver's cabin? Multiple camera angle live streaming on road show. I am thinking of ceiling mounted these flexible lights. Thoughts?
Hey hey again Frank!
Hmm, in my eyes the sun coming from all around the truck windows would already light up the cabin nicely for you to get more than enough exposure? Having these mounted on the ceiling will definitely help introduce more lights into the cabin but the lighting may look unnatural since its coming from the top like when you're in a grocery store. If you are trying to be able to see out the window while still getting exposure inside the cabin you may want to look into ND window film for the driver and passenger windows. This way you can see out the window while the front windshield can still provide a good amount of light.
If you are using a rear camera to see what the driver sees on the road, then simply expose the camera for that and let the driver go into silhouette as this is very natural to see life in this way (for that shot)
Hope this helps!
Would the FL150R make a good light for over a table for product shots? If not, what would you recommend for this use?
Hey hey Human[c]ity Junction!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
If you are using a long table and doing large/long products, yes the 150r with the softbox will be a great light to cover the entire table. If you are just doing smaller products like camera/lenses etc and don't use a super large table. Then the 150S with the softbox would be fine for that too. Long story short, both styles will work, just depends on your room situation if you have room for the long 1x3' setup over the table.
Hope this helps!

Its possible to control on off with LAN cable ?
Hey hey Refgi!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
It is not possible to turn on and off with a LAN cable.

can this work as a key light for 2-4 people and how many would you need?
This really depends on what kind of look you are going for and what situation you are filming in. Without knowing anything about your setup, location, and esthetic style. I can't give a answer that would be useful.
UA-cam/podcast- flattering for subjects (beauty) -not dramatic cinema. 2-3 cameras in a studio. @@TLDR_filmmaker
Is this light can be controlled via the Godox Light app ? or only the old Godox Photo app ?
It uses the old Godox Photo App.
@@TLDR_filmmakerok thanks. Bad news. Any solution to control with light app ?
Could I stick this up with painter’s tape?
Hey hey Brain Retraining Mamma!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure it could work if you really really taped it up. But at the end of the day it is just better to get some 2-3inch gaffers tape.
Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Any solution to control with "godox light" please ?
I believe the only app that can control this light is the older Godox App. I can't remember what its called though. I'm not sure why they can't make the newer Godox Light App talk to the older 2.4ghz systems.
06:48 Should this be your first light?
TLDR: No, get a COB LED as your first light haha.
You done messed up AA Ron.
I sure did I Am The Brown! haha!
I have been for someone to review this so bad. It seemed like this product was swept (apologies for forced pun) under the mat.
Hey hey Phoka!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
So glad I could provide a review for you! Hope it was helpful! Haha puns are fun, I too was confused why I never knew about this product. Its like most of the youtube community missed it or Godox didn't push it too hard in terms of marketing.
