Is it possible to create a single introduction using the introduction section of, say, 8 articles we uploaded to the system?

Lateral will specifically generate snippets from the articles. It won't write an introduction.
If you are trying to write an introduction for your article, I would start from scratch, outline, and then write.

It is differently than Mendeley. Mendeley is a reference manager like Zotero. It doesn't summarize or parse articles like Lateral does.
