My first job out of textile design college was making sample headers, maintaining the sample library and then running the QC lab. But samples were cut with those huge tailors scissors one colourway at a time. Great lazer machine.
Hoffman Batiks are probably my favorite fabric. This tour was fascinating. I so appreciate you sharing this video and that Hoffman was gracious to allow the tour.

Thank you! This is a trip I could love! One question: I did not see anyone in your tour group with a hat or bag made out of Hoffman batiks. I think the people making the batiks would loved to have seen the end result of their labor intensive work.
Some of it reminds me of Mexico and the foliage is more like Okinawa. How little they make doing such physical work is stunning but not surprising. Hoffman, won’t pay the workers more- not because they can’t, it’s because they aren’t lawfully required to.
