This is the kind of song that sets Home Free apart from others. They are all virtuosos in their own right no doubt, but unlike other a capella groups who rely on theatrics or over the top vocal calesthenics, these guys can just sit and sing and blow people away just with that tight, beautiful sound. To me, songs like this are more entertaining than the ones with more gymnastic moments. Awesome, and the video was a one shot, no edits. Simple and mind-blowing at the same time.
In the Behind The Scenes, I think they said it took about 6 takes, but in one of those takes, the band played a trick on Chance, when he first walked into the room, Austin was shirtless, and Tim, Adam, and Rob all had their pants off. It was a good laugh. Thanks for another great reaction, Jacob!
I love how seamlessly they switch between singers but what amazes me is how seamlessly Tim and Chance switch off the bass when the other one sings lead. As soon as Tim started singing tenor, Chance took the bass line and it sounded almost identical to what Tim was doing a few bars before.
And Tim stopped the bass when he said "no bass." I heard that this was one of the first videos they filmed together after COVID restrictions were lifted. You can see that they're so excited to sing together in the same room. I also heard this was done in one take.
Thank you. You are the first musician who singled out every interesting musical moment I enjoyed during this arrangement. This song reminds me of one of my favorite Home Free originals, Don’t It Feel Good which explains the elements we hear during a song.
Go back to the very beginning of the song when Chance is walking in. He says no one singing the harmonies and the next line Austin joins with the harmony. Then when he’s says no bass and Tim shuts off the bass. Everything about this song is beautiful!
These guys continue to impress & succeed musically - at least in my humble opinion. When they go to the 5 part harmony right after Austin's solo part....and how about Austin singing in his lower register. Great Song, Great Cover, 5 1/2 glorious minutes spent with you Jacob :)
Their harmonies are so rich and full and I think it’s because of the strong lower registers between Tim (low bass) and Chance (low baritone). It makes for such a resounding blend.
So glad you mentioned the one shot. Hardly anyone seems to notice but then with those gorgeous harmonies, it's easy to get so focused on that to not notice the actual video. Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out if I can redecorate a room to look as cool as that.
I love this. Their harmonies are so good. Liked that they each got a chance to sing. Adam was crazy good and I liked the video and the lighting. I loved the blue and red. Good reaction Jacob.
They do a lot of that thing you mention in this song, where they sing the line and then that thing happens, either in the song or in the video. In the beginning they sing "no bass, no guitar, no tambourine" Tim drops out when he says no bass. And near the end when Austin says "when the spotlight goes cold" they time it so that the bright light in the background is blocked just as he says that part. It's cool and must have been quite a job to choreograph.
Thank you for all your Home Free reactions. Their Behind The Scenes vids are called From The Vault, if you ever have time. Also, if you are into Gospel, I would love your reaction to Jireh, Elevation Worship & Maverick City. Thank you. Cheers!
To really hear Tim's full 5 octave range, watch the video of "Snow Globe" or "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". He is just amazing and funny as hell - watch "Natemares" or "Whip/Nae Nae" to see what I mean about that sense of humor!
I still wish you would react to Mayday . I have a question to my fellow fries -- who saw the guys singing -- American Pie at Don´s star reveal on the walk of fame

Totally agree with you! 👍

My favorite part of that was chance totally went along with it and started to undo his pants too and was getting ready to take his off. 🤣
@@stephaniecaskinette4577 It was really funny when Chance did that & cameraman make b-line for the exist; like not staying here for the unveiling.
That moment between Rob and Adam Rupp was my favorite part. I also like how they do what the lyrics suggest. Adam Rupp is 🔥. Love him.

I love how they somehow sound like one person with their harmonies. No one over powering anyone.
And Tim stopped the bass when he said "no bass."
