Hi Phil, I remember walking through the tunnel when I was younger, before the metro was planned to use it, I remember it well walking along the overgrown rail lines. My Nan used to live in the maisonettes just off Peter street, which were demolished in the early nineties .
Hi Phil all the times I've passed the Samson and lion pub and turned left down Dial lane and thanks to you Phil I now know Peters Street and that area around the back of those Pubs and the park would look better with a few more trees I was interested to see were the Railway Tunnel runs the Tunnel I remember was just up from the Old Swan Village station I think it was called Sandwell Tunnel it was on the approach to Swan Village Staion from Carters Green looking forward to your next video all the best Paul
Worked at Brockhouse for 8 years after leaving school...many fond memories 🤗...first pay packet £8.08 😄...and no,Rachel,I didn't even pay any income tax 🤑
Growing up in pemberton road i remember playing on the park and on the old railway line in the tunnel and all around that aerier from the 70's till the early 80's thanks phil great walk.
Samsons lion has obviously escaped.😂. The duck and cow must be the resident keepers of the park now. It is in bad shape. This is the first park I’ve seen with a zip wire, shame it’s not in use. I must say though that once something is ‘broken’ in our Sandwell parks it remains so, sad state of affairs.
I was aware it was originally a football ground but for the life of me I didnt know who played there back in the day, so your update is most welcome, many thanks Brian
I used to go to that park around 15 plus years ago and it's pretty much the same now as it was then The zip line seat has been replaced twice in the last 5 years but it's either cut away or it got burned last time from what I heard before Tbh I avoid walking through there and walk around, on my walks I have seen kids and adults playing football and sometimes they have events on during the half term holidays but nothing extreme Even hill top park isn't what it used to be maybe I'm just getting old 😂 As for the tunnel it's interesting to know that it's right there, I've always thought it ran along the House behind black lake parallel but it goes around abit
Street cleaner was in a hurry get to the chip shop 😂 used mow round harvills hawthorn yrs ago was rough then so no suprise play area vandalised Phil and needs repairing prob has been and vandalised again occurs often play areas in most parks around the borough equipment vandalised.

Well spotted - all the park videos tend to have the odd sound effect.
