Pakistan faces many security challenges, both within and along its borders. The Taliban maintains a stronghold along the border with Afghanistan; the conflict with India over control of Kashmir has worsened in recent months; and in December Pakistan suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in its history when Pakistani Taliban attacked a school in Peshawar, killing over 100 students.
However, some positive signs of change have emerged. The Pakistani army has ramped up efforts to combat the Taliban and other militants. Relations with Afghanistan have improved since Ashraf Ghani was elected president, promising greater security cooperation along the border. And US Secretary of State John Kerry is working to help India and Pakistan mend relations. Will these efforts be enough to ensure future stability? Pakistan expert Christine Fair will discuss Pakistan’s security concerns and the outlook for this complex region.

When Pakistani army and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto planned a genocide against East Pakistan, someone in US knew what's going on and what is coming next. As when India started talking about it in UN, US veto it.
Then due to refugee crisis started as people were running for their lives and entering India, India took it on itself and Indira Gandhi wanted to attack but it was postponed. Then as Pakistan first attached India's multiple air force bases first, India got the perfect opportunity and attacked west Pak army in Bangladesh and next thing we hear is US and it's NATO allies has dispatched the most powerful navy fleets to save Pakistan, knowing what Pak army is doing to their own people, as they were on a raping and killing spree.
My assessment of the events is that people sitting on high table in US knew what's cooking in the east. And did not send their most powerful fleet to attack India.
If being an American anyone thinks otherwise can contradict me, but until then I hereby quote that US very well knew but still choose to save the Pak Army's genocidal mission 🙏

Her research on Kashmir and knowledge of Kashmir dispute is also VERY weak. I doubt she's even stepped foot in Kashmir or interacted with Kashmiris. The freedom struggle exists, and Pakistan will continue to support this struggle. The indians can cry foul all they want. Wont change anything. Pakistan's stance on Kashmir is a principled one - in line with the aspirations of Kashmiris and in line with UN Resolutions.

I am surprised that it is only recently that I have heard Christine Fair speak. Clearly, her voice has been stifled in the Western media, as was proven fairly recently in her BBC interview. But she certainly speaks the truth from a position of vast and detailed factual knowledge.
Another very important point that Fair doesn't know. She says KKK is underground and doesn't have public acceptability. Is the implication that RSS doesn't have acceptability in a similar manner? That is totally false. RSS has a great deal of acceptability among the general public and many people love sending their children to RSS shakhas (meets and training camps). It is like a cadet corps program and masses (of Hindus of course) of people firmly believe in the nationalist through process of RSS.

I'm not an expert on Af-Pak so I have to believe everything that Christine Fair says here. Sounds qquite compellingly true based on what bits I do know, so no issues there. She speaks great too so I enjoyed everything till she compared Modi to a leader of the KKK. She says she expects backlash from Modi supporters (which I am) but that is not the point. She needs to understand the Indian context and I'm afraid despite all her credentials she is missing some vital differences.
KKK is a racist and white supremacist gang which went after blacks in the past and maybe other racial groups as well. The key point here is that blacks were already disadvantaged and posed no threat to anybody ever in the history of US. RSS on the other hand speaks against the discrimination that the majority community (Hindus) faced through 100s of years in India. It started with Mughals ruling India and then British using Muslims against Hindus and finally the appeasement of Muslims by Indian political parties for their selfish interests (similar thing might be happening in many parts of Europe now, especially within Britain itself). In addition to this, she needs to understand the Islamist mindset that pervades India to a large extent to see how the Indian context is so different from that of KKK.
So saying that RSS==KKK is frankly ignorant on her part. She needs to read Indian history some more and I'm sure with her intellect she will come around to agree with the point of view of RSS and many other such people/organizations within India.

Basically religious zealots are in all religions. If a country is economically strong, secular and democratic then the people will not allow the fringe elements from any community to raise its ugly head. Mr. Modi knows this and the 2002 riot in Gujarat is over played in a country like India where a more serious crime like 1984 riot was ignored. I agree with everything Christine Fair said except about RSS and BJP. And Modi will never part ways with RSS as he always proudly says abt his RSS days in his speeches. I would like if Christine Fair can actually do a similar intensive research on RSS and she ll come to know the truth. RSS might have started as a hindu nationalist but now it has spread to include muslims as well. So it has essentially become a indian nationalist instead of hindu nationalist.
