I address this in a reaction video that's scheduled. I want to check out the compilation, but I don't want to spoil any songs I haven't heard yet, so I'm gonna hold off on this one for awhile.
@@aKidNamedBrady Here’s all the Lana songs in the best live vocals video by PopCrush: Ride, blue jeans, cola, without you, million dollar man, national anthem, cover of nirvana, born to die, Brooklyn baby, American, body electric, ultraviolence, money power glory, Carmen, shades of cool, yayo. 💖
The whole short film is about a story of sun and redemption. What you see is more symbolic and metaphorical rather than literal. In Body Electric, it’s the story of Adam & Eve. Living in paradise but losing it when they disobey God (John Wayne) and eat the fruit - thus bringing Original Sin into a pure beautiful world and corrupting it. In Gods & Monsters they’re now living in an evil, sinful world and paying the consequences of their actions and make plans to escape and redeem themselves. In Bel Air, they are “born again” and baptized - Shedding away their dark clothes and wearing white to symbolize their new pure redeemed souls. The whole Paradise EP follows this overarching story. It has themes of a more in depth, metaphysical view of living in a sinful world of pleasure/money - which is Hollywood (which is ironically paradise yet also hell). And the struggles of living and navigating that world that Lana had found herself in due to fame.
Yup this short film is basically a modern take on the Adam and Eve story and I like how Lana connects the garden of Eden to LA. The only part I don’t get is the alien stuff at the end. Does it actually have any meaning or is it just an artistic choice?
The John Wayne statement about apologies is from a movie. “Never apologise and never explain, it’s a sign of weakness” - She wore a yellow ribbon - 1949 Toxic masculinity on display The poems between song 2 and 3 - starts with Ginsburg’s Howl - then a bit which I think is Lana’s - the John Wayne bit is a poem he narrated written by John Mitchum
This is basically a modern take on the Adam and Eve story. The ending part is like a baptism, they’re washing away their sin and purifying their souls and ascending essentially. I think the alien stuff was just an artistic choice to represent the ascension. If you’re into reading I highly recommend the book “Caim” by José Saramago, it’s one of my favourite books ever and it basically follows the story of Caim, one of Adam and Eve’s children who murdered his brother and the book is essentially one big critique to many aspects about religion and society. The book is fairly short but it’s a really good read. Edit: forgot to mention that Lana is basically also relating the story of Adam and Eve to the real world and LA more specifically as a way to expose the corruption and how rotten it is. It’s called the city of angels but she refers to it as garden of evil or the land of gods and monsters.
There IS lot of symbolism in the video that i may miss but based on just my interpretation is basically lana saying how terrifying the terrenal world (and obviously l.a fucked Up shit with the elite) can be. Shes trying to get free from that lifestyle. She used to live in a trailer park and had abusive boyfriends( sourranded by drugs and violence) She just want tl get free and live a peacefull lifestyle And thanks for taking youre time to react to all of this videos. We or i personally love it
The story is of Adam and Eve, cast out of the garden of Eden to Earth (LA) and the resurrected / reborn and ascending to heaven. Also, God is the cowboy who is supposed to be John Wayne, the most popular Cowboy actor from the 1950's.
Body electric, Gods and Monsters, Bel Air 😀 There’s no official video for Gods and Monsters alone, you saw someone butcher this piece of art. Jokes aside, I was glad you reacted to Gods and Monsters then, but a bit disapointed your firts time hearing it was out of the context of the video.
There’s something she’s not telling us!! 😅 all jokes aside tho the ending is supposed to represent their ascension after they washed away their sin and it’s a symbol of rebirth, I think the alien shit was just for artistic purposes, like she has a cowboy, Elvis and Marilyn to represent the holy trinity
@@wonderland4515 i know... i really get the story but if you look up closer you can see similar images in The best next american record, Nfr music video, happiness is a butterfly, the greatest..m

the opening instrumental before the song Bel Air is so magical and beautiful
7:38 the song is Born to die. “I feel so alone on the Friday nights, can you make it feel like home if I tell you your mine?”

Monologues she said are actual poems, I sing the body electric by Walt Whitman - mentioned in body electric, Howl Part1 by Allen Ginsberg
The John Wayne statement about apologies is from a movie.

OMGGG
The title of the music video should have been "What Is Happening?". :D And yet, it's sensational nonetheless.

I always found the ending of Tropico confusing... IM SURE she knows something... In some of her videos you can see spaceships and UFOS
