Totally with you on this one. There is simply no fun for me if I don't have to think how to beat the tougher enemies. I turned on the hard mode with DQ11 and that fight against the spider behind the church /under the colosseum was insane.
With a turn based game with a level system such as this, I feel like it's only as hard or easy as you make it. If it's easy, go under levelled if you can. And Matty mentions spongy enemies and I am a gamer who despises that, so I might prefer an easier experience to circumvent artificial difficulty.

I just started one piece a couple years back as well and now I'm like 60 episodes away from being caught up. I wish I didn't wait so long. What a phenomenal show
It's rare to see someone who enjoys the dub. I enjoy the dub myself and it sucks these games are only in Japanese but I suppose I'll check out 3 games specifically, this being one of them.
This game reminds me of Arc Rise Fantasia. It has the same zone fighting system with elements being the big mechanic. It was easy at first until bosses had air shaped attacks. Like cones, circles and delayed attacks.
Yeah im definitely gonna check this out later I love the little details they took from the anime/manga. The game also pretty fun from what I’ve played of the demo
More anime games should try turn based jrpg rather than copying a boring warriors or fighter formula I hope to see more in this style of game I’m definitely picking this up
That’s super exciting to have an actual good JRPG based on an anime. I preordered it on ps5 with a steelbook! Gave me Dragon Quest vibes. And i wasn’t a big fan just watched and read some of it. I wanna get into it again but it’s a daunting task. Also, I need more good anime jrpgs. Wanted to like the Fairy Tail Rpg but that one wasn’t too great.
Great video! I’m going to watch my fiancé play this game. What platform did you play this on? How was the performance? Also I hope this brings back turn based jrpgs 😊
As someone who just started watching, I think I'm gonna wait until I get to the point this is supposed to take place around in the show to play. Really enjoyed the demo though
Tbh I would have preferred to start at lv 1 and not lv 40, seeing all those abilities and them loosing them is a downer but other than that the game looks really good
To not be spoiled you need to watch/read through Dressrossa. There are later arc spoilers in the earlier sections, like a MAJOR spoiler for Marineford in the Alabasta portion. Tread carefully Nakama.

idk if this is the case my dude but it looks like you have a windscreen over your sm7b which comes included with a windscreen and it sounds like its killing your audio quality. I love the reviews and hope this helps and im not an idiot.
Played the demo and it does the thing where you start off powerful and it steals your power to put you back to level one which I hate as a mechanic in games, it was fine other then that and there were some interesting things they do with turn based combat.
@@getpoopedon4535ow would that have made sense though? They are already mad strong, the only logical thing would be to start them over and have them work back to their level
My favorite anime. Kinda pains me that you hopped into this game only having watched 100 episodes, but I appreciate your enthusiasm. I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey. So glad to hear that’s it’s just in Japanese, cause I can’t stand the English cast. Doesn’t even compare to the emotion of the Japanese voice cast.
Sanji in whole cake island arc is probably one of my favorite character developments in all anime. Which is insane cuz whole cake is like 800 episodes deep into the show lmfao
@@Official_RetroMania oh agreed he was my favorite from the get go but he had some of his best moments in whole cake island. Which is reasonable because that arc basically revolved around him
it's on Netflix, you can watch 1-2 episodes a day at your own pace. It'll be hard cause you'll be so captivated you won't want to stop that's how good the series is.
I would rather they do the story this way than make an entirely original story as anime games tend to always fall flat when it comes to making something new
Honestly, if it helps bring more Japanese games over here by keeping their production costs down by not hiring an entire English voice cast, I’m completely fine with the games just being sub. I do prefer the English voice cast for One Piece but I’m glad we at least got this game!
One piece has the single best English voice cast of any anime hands down. They fit the characters in English so well that it feels like it's supposed to be originally produced for English, where most animes you can tell it's a dub.
I watched One Piece back when it was new. I gave up on it when it took years or interesting episodes and truck loads of forgettable filler and they never got to One Piece, and now Ash is leaving the Pokemon Anime before One Piece is found. If this game is genuinely as good as stated here, I might give it a shot to pull me back into the lore of this universe to some level. It definitely seems like it's made for all fans, new and old. I'm still waiting for a good Bleach game tho.
After netflix's live action i was hooked did research about the lore, the fruits, the oni's and all that then started watching the anime last week, about 230 eps in and its just getting better. I love one piece now🤣🤣

This is on sale on Xbox for 23.99 right now. Is it worth picking up?
I just started one piece a couple years back as well and now I'm like 60 episodes away from being caught up. I wish I didn't wait so long. What a phenomenal show
I watched the whole series in 6 months, no regrets! Best long form anime!
It's rare to see someone who enjoys the dub. I enjoy the dub myself and it sucks these games are only in Japanese but I suppose I'll check out 3 games specifically, this being one of them.
Yeah, the last official game to be dubbed was one piece unlimited,. what's crazy is it's the first time Franky was ever dubbed in English at all
@@Chris-bz2rf I never knew there were any games dubbed.
@@YahikoTendo yeah but most of the early dubs are the 4kids voices, but some games do have the Funimation dub
This game reminds me of Arc Rise Fantasia. It has the same zone fighting system with elements being the big mechanic. It was easy at first until bosses had air shaped attacks. Like cones, circles and delayed attacks.
Definitely will buy cause One piece and Oda actually had some part with the story
Yeah im definitely gonna check this out later I love the little details they took from the anime/manga. The game also pretty fun from what I’ve played of the demo
More anime games should try turn based jrpg rather than copying a boring warriors or fighter formula
I hope to see more in this style of game I’m definitely picking this up
I've never watched a single One Piece episode and I thoroughly enjoyed the demo and pre-ordered on PC
That's because is developed by ILCA the same people who made Dragon Quest XI.
@@Official_RetroMania oh nice! They also did Pokémon BDSP didn’t they? lol
@@statesminds Yes, they did!
Steel book... Where?
@@ryangmilam GameStop has steelbook if you preorder! Best Buy gives keychain
I've seen all episodes up to date. I can see how it could be exciting or scary if you are a fan and where you are in the story.
Glad you got into one piece! It's an amazing anime
There is something about Oda's style that everytime they turn one piece characters into 3d models, it just looks weird.
I’m happy you’ve made it the game review community. Proud of your accomplishment. One of my favorite reviewers out there
Love everything you put out, first time commenting
Please please PLEASE catch up on One Piece before playing more!
Def gotta binge tf outta one piece like im thankful we had a lil pandemic happening so I could watch so many episodes a day lol
Never watched or read the Manga but damn i am hyped for this Game! I think i am gonna watch it know!
Sanji found *QUAKING* when told his typing would be beaten by zoro's
Great video! I’m going to watch my fiancé play this game. What platform did you play this on? How was the performance? Also I hope this brings back turn based jrpgs 😊
Glad you're enjoying One Piece! Might have to pick this up!
Oh wow. Was waiting on this!
You'll Enjoy every moment in this game if you are a fan. But it will have some spoilers if youre still new
Great review, appreciate it!
Love one piece!!, keep them coming!! sad that i also waited this long to watch the anime. Started back in 2017 but only 600 ep in lmao
Such a great review! Good job Matty!
As someone who just started watching, I think I'm gonna wait until I get to the point this is supposed to take place around in the show to play. Really enjoyed the demo though
The game has its own original story
Tbh I would have preferred to start at lv 1 and not lv 40, seeing all those abilities and them loosing them is a downer but other than that the game looks really good
i think that happend was probaly part of the story i guess???
I'm thinking about buying this today it's only $24.95 right now and is it worth the money
The second my hero one's justice is literally better than the first in every way.
To not be spoiled you need to watch/read through Dressrossa. There are later arc spoilers in the earlier sections, like a MAJOR spoiler for Marineford in the Alabasta portion. Tread carefully Nakama.
Mr. Matty: "I Love one piece"
Mr. Matty fans: 😁
Mr. Matty" Im over 100 episodes in"
Mr. Matty fans noticing this game takes place after the time skip 😬
Great video 👏👏 keep up the good work 💪
Enjoy the ride I’ll be catching up on One Piece next month, took a break in 2017
I've really tried to get into One piece many times but I just can't get over the character designs lol. Glad that the game is at least good though.
I find the character designs pretty good because there's so many characters that it's helpful in making them memorable. Plus it gets better after 230 episodes 😅
I'm on episode 341, I started last year in May.
Be glad! You have over 1000 episodes to watch without waiting over 20 years like us who watch for the beginning. Enjoy!
@@ark5585 that’s a cool story bro not everyone is you. You can enjoy watching 12 episode anime with no character or world building which never get new seasons.
I’m soo excited for this game
I wasn’t expecting an anime game to be good lol
Should I buy one piece odyssey and really want to play it but is it worth it? And I want to ask how much time take to complete this geme in 100%, and about minus and plus of odyssey and whether it is worth buying the deluxe version unfortunately I can't watch this video because I'm busy and if someone could write to me if it's worth buying
Oh dude a Kimetsu No Yaiba RPG would be a dream!
Thanks for the video!
I appreciate that your preface is nearly identical to my actual situation.
Love it Matty!
I'm caught up on the manga and the anime so I'll give this a look, you're saying some really good things about it and I think I'm gonna play it
'only 100 episodes deep', haha, love the fact this statement makes sense with One Piece
I got deluxe edition but can’t unlock the Travelling Outfits 😢
No way its actually good??? Let's goo, thanks for the review Matty.
I’m on the Fishman Island arc, I hope the game doesn’t spoil much
idk if this is the case my dude but it looks like you have a windscreen over your sm7b which comes included with a windscreen and it sounds like its killing your audio quality. I love the reviews and hope this helps and im not an idiot.
Played the demo and it does the thing where you start off powerful and it steals your power to put you back to level one which I hate as a mechanic in games, it was fine other then that and there were some interesting things they do with turn based combat.
How would you have preferred them to handle it?
@@DrooledOn I personally would prefer they grind up like they do in the manga/anime
@@getpoopedon4535ow would that have made sense though? They are already mad strong, the only logical thing would be to start them over and have them work back to their level
@@DrooledOn maybe had the mysterious storm take their power, I just don’t like playing with the power then losing it, I get them needing to take it.
Just go through the story of the show and start off as ep 1 luffy and progressively get stronger and get better abilities would be nice.
Love your videos!
Sanji is also my favorite character! ❤️ I love you Retro Rebound even more after knowing this!
Sanji in whole cake island arc is probably one of my favorite character developments in all anime. Which is insane cuz whole cake is like 800 episodes deep into the show lmfao
@@onetickhaole1109 Nahhhh I liked Sanji from the very beginning, he was always my man! The Whole Cake Island Arc was just the cherry on top!
@@Official_RetroMania oh agreed he was my favorite from the get go but he had some of his best moments in whole cake island. Which is reasonable because that arc basically revolved around him
@@onetickhaole1109 Yeah I agree with you!
@@Official_RetroMania now kith
it's on Netflix, you can watch 1-2 episodes a day at your own pace. It'll be hard cause you'll be so captivated you won't want to stop that's how good the series is.
not really
I'm actually really excited to see this new OP game as an RPG
This looks very interesting,
Im thinking of buying this
I wish this had an english version since im 300 episodes into the dubbed version. Maybe when this is cheaper I’ll get it
How long is it?
I would rather they do the story this way than make an entirely original story as anime games tend to always fall flat when it comes to making something new
2:33 did the storymode make it mid? Cause the games are basically the same
Unrelated but I love your thumbnails they always gaet me to click even if I'm not interested in the game your reviewing
Honestly, if it helps bring more Japanese games over here by keeping their production costs down by not hiring an entire English voice cast, I’m completely fine with the games just being sub.
I do prefer the English voice cast for One Piece but I’m glad we at least got this game!
I am pretty sad it is only in sub, but like u said it is great we are atleast getting the game here.
We got a Sanji fan? A+, mate! I wish this game came out on Xbox One.
After netflix's live action i was hooked did research about the lore, the fruits, the oni's and all that then started watching the anime last week, about 230 eps in and its just getting better. I love one piece now🤣🤣
I am so excited for this. Have the deluxe edition preordered and installed so I can start it as soon as it releases
I got deluxe edition but can’t unlock the Travelling Outfits 😢
@Sharkie Alami First double check theyre actually downloaded (it wasnt automatic). You can only change outfits at camp or when your at a bar.
