My dog used to be reactive and filled with anxiety. It was so bad. Training, practice, praise, trying to give her confidence, nothing worked. I had to put her on anxiety meds from her vet, and now she’s the sweetest and best girl ever
My dog is older now but he was like your dog. One thing that helped me and him is I would take to a small doggie daycare. I started out by leaving him a half a day. Your pup loves you and I feel that he feels like he has to protect you from everything. It will get better!
30:21 GIRL felt!! 😩 my dog was reactive too, what worked for us was just putting him in the position to learn. For example, I walked him on busy streets on purpose because he hated cars, birds (still does), cats, etc. anything that moves basically lol. I’d tug the leash, give a command like “sit, stay”. He eventually learned to stay even though he’s still shakey. Then I’d reward him with a treat. It took 2 years and consistency but he got it eventually. He still does freak out when people come up to the house but on walks, he doesn’t scream as much as he used to. He needs to feel you’re in control and that he’s safe, and that you’re safe. I hope this helps 🙏🏽 it’s super rare to have an anxious dog while being anxious myself, so when you said that I was like OMG IM NOT ALONE.
Great vlog as usual. You are such a good friend to talk about how genuinely proud of Morgann you are. That is true friendship I love to see it and we all can learn from it. You are such a blessing Alexis.
I love your transparency. My Yorkie had anxiety medication that my vet gave us before going for grooming or appointments. It literally changed our lives. Now she doesn’t need it because she’s socialized and lives the attention.
Juno is such a big baby, ❤ it.. I love you because you're genuine, inspite of the obstacles you faced in the past you trusted God and navigated through that pain and shock, and just look at you now 🙏🏽❣️ Minor setback for a major comeback. You're also very motivating to us your subies 💕🍒 And a coach girly to the core for sure.
Not the Lord shut him up for forever 😭😭😭😭 I felt that in my soul I had a reactive dog too and it was so impossible to ever take him outside for walks or have company and I felt so uncomfortable in public. We got a second dog and he took some time to warm up the puppy but it’s been almost a year and he’s completely different! I believe he just needed a brother to socialize with daily and to love on him and play with him. He’s still takes time to warm up to people and places but he’s not screaming and barking the whole time anymore thank God! I know that’s probably not the solution for your dog as he has a brother already but just wanted to share that it does get better and I pray you are able to find the best solution for you 🤍
I completely understand. My pit gets so wild and crazy whenever we go to the pet store. I literally always have to come up with an escape plan to avoid people but it usually never works lol. Of course everyone is looking at us 🙄. Thanks for the video and I love your content!
as a person with a reactive chihuahua I gave up. We have certain groomers and vets that she likes so we only go to those people, but when it comes to walks and being out in public we only do afternoon walks when things are less crowded. I get how you feel when it comes to the attention being drawn to you because when my dog starts being reactive my whole body instantly gets hot from being anxious.
You are a God fearing driven person. what I love about you is that you’re unique , loving and intelligent person , a go getter you are so kind and caring
Yessss ponyyy it’s super cute😂😍😍, ok new pickups 😍, Morgann event was super cute & different 😍🫶🏽 I’m glad y’all enjoyed & that oxtail dinner did look DELICIOUS 😂 so I’m not mad at you for not waiting to get home to eat 😂😂
Poor thing 🥹 I feel so bad for you and Java. But maybe you should ask the vet about some calming medication because animals suffer just like we do. I hope it gets better because they're such precious dogs 🩵🩵
Girl I had a yorkie terrier & he would do the same thing. His anxiety was baddddd. I tried giving him calming medicine & even trazadone for his vet/grooming appointments which I was on the fence about. It sometimes didn’t even work. Just avoiding crowded timeframes & socializing him more helped slightly. Us dog moms understand.
I completely understand how you feel about your dog. When I first got my golden doodle from a puppy he was wild & a lot. I couldn’t take it anymore & eventually found a trainer that did boarding & he was honest with me & said that he’s wild for his breed but he would do his best. That was the best decision I have made because even though I had to wait until he was around 7/8 months he then turned a year old & it’s like he grew up but also the training helped. I do need to get him back into training just for a lil tune up but he’s definitely more manageable now.
Aww Java! The vet prescribes a small dose of Trazadone for my dog to take before her vet and grooming appointments and it really helps. I give her one dose at night and another 3 hours before her appointment. Sometimes they need a bit extra help calming with meds. Nothing wrong with it.
I used to have a reactive dog! A shih tzu/yorkie mix we couldn’t go ANYWHERE! Or have people over cus she would bark, charge, cry and whine, and the start using the restroom ANYWHERE and ever where. Some of the things that helped where taking her to small dog dog parks, taking her to parks where there where tons of people so she would feel more comfortable and less anxious around strangers. One thing that helped me was not being anxious when she would get anxious because she was feeding off my energy. Staying calm and comforting like I would want when I’m having an anxiety attack. Teaching her basic commands like “sit, stay, lay”and rewarding her for it in treats or affirmations. Lastly a STRICT ROUTINE for both of us. Everyday for months we did the same thing! So she would know mamas always close by and it’s ok to be around others. It was HARD! But now she’s 6 and just loves people’s, loves cuddles, and is rarely nips or bark at anyone. I wish the same for you and Juno. ❤ just stay consistent. Don’t condemn him for being a dog! Train him to be your friend. 🤞🏾
Having an over reactive dog is EXTREMELY hard. Anyone who hasn’t experienced it will never understand and it feels defeating. I’ve definitely been there. Praying that it gets better.❤❤
You may have to give him some kind of meds for calming, cause my shih tzu gets like that when he sees other dogs it’s a high pitch scream bark! But he has a bark collar and it works
The handwritten cards were such a nice touch! I will def be going to the soul food place. & you def could've came to the sushi place with us! They have tons of veggie options! (I'm a vegetarian)
Heyyyyy, there was a super reactive dog in my training class. I remember the trainer saying to use the mother’s hormone collar and plugin in the house to help calm them. Not sure if you’ve tried that but it worked for the dog in my class.
hey girl! i have my reactive mini schnauzer (2 years old) on a e-collar. it doesn’t shock them but it does provide a small vibration to alert them of any command i say when the button is pressed. the company is called pro-leash training. i’m in georgia so idk if its in your area but worth a try! hope it gets better for you!
Hi love. We had a pup like that also it’s not easy. What I did, I took him to a dog park to socialize with other dogs. It did help but yes it takes a lot of time. The other thing is what you said he may need a relaxing meditation from a veterinarian. And do your lips like you want too 😂…people!!
I have a puppy like Java. For grooming visits my vet gave him meds. Helped a lot. For walks i walk him by himself. When i see other people out and he barks i immediately put his muzzle on. When he stops trying to bark i take it off. He’s learning now. He knows when he barks i will put it on he doesn’t like it. So he looks at me before he thinks of barking. Seems mean but the anxiety i have walking him is a lot
I totally get your frustration. My male Yorkie-Poo (Kobe) is very reactive, his yelps are so ear piercing. My girl (Nina) is the total opposite and I feel bad for her at times when I take them out together because all the attention goes to him, because he’s so out of sorts in public. It was so bad we took him to the vet to get his nails trimmed because the groomer couldn’t do it. The vet didn’t even get to his nails before bringing him back to us with a prescription for trazodone. I was heart broken. The meds made him so drowsy I couldn’t stand it so we stopped giving it to him. But I am considering trying it again at half the dose. We didn’t give up but it’s very challenging because he’s still so reactive we’ve learned to try and keep some consistency with service workers etc. and socialize him as much as we can. It’s hard for me because I’m initially shy and don’t like a lot of attention drawn to me but with him it’s inevitable. You’ve got this. Just keep praying and know he is so blessed to have you as his mom to love him no matter what. 🤍
My vet prescribes trazodone to take the night before and 3 hours before a vet or grooming appointment and it really helps! She's drowsy but it wears off and unfortunately she doesn't have to take it often only in those situations.
My dog is the same way. When he sees other dogs, he’s backing and lunging like he really whoop every dog on the block. I would love to walk him before work, but he will wake up the whole neighborhood. Night walks a way better. He doesn’t even see dogs passing bye at that time. Smh. I left a testimonial BECAUSE I’ve been looking for someone that has the exact aesthetic I’ve wanted for YEARS! However not everyone is modest or a TRUE woman of God and that’s important to me!
I tried to get some from his vet but she told me I’d have to take him to a specialist because she wouldn’t know what to recommend him bc at the time he was 7 months!
Girl that’s how the kids be too. As a mom of 3 I have a chill child, a with the shits child and lastly a savage child. I be pulled a thousand different ways and anxiety be high leaving the house
Hey girl , I honestly feel your pain with a reactive dog so much my dog is the same exact way it’s so frustrating so when you please find the answer can you let me know 😫
Yeah, they are calm by the time you get them. Frfr! Yes, same experience with my second dog. I’ve always had active dog, because I like to run and be active so lol😂. I completely know when you wanna take them someone they act crazy😭😭😭
You might have to take him to a park where he can run out there engine energy. Because he might have a lot of energy pent up in him and that’s probably why he’s being overreactive because my dog does the same thing when I let him go and run around like a nut for two becomes less, taking him out. My dog just turned two years old and he still the same way. Eventually he will grow out of it. Thank you for sharing.
I want to keep taking him so he can continue to be exposed! I don’t want to take away all interaction ya know? I don’t want him to think never seeing people or new places is normal
I find you to be a breathe of "fresh air", God fearing and family driven. Your content is about community and friends. We love it!

I kinda was thinking of this but I don’t know if they will accept him because of how reactive he is! This is a good idea

Yes omg I literally get sooooo so anxious and start getting overstimulated then I just shutdown it’s exhausting
Java might need a muzzle, it might help a little. Maybe try calming bites but the boarding training sounds like a good idea 😢

ISO so love your content. You are a breath of fresh air 💕💕! I just told my niece to start following you as I think you are so inspiring for women.
