Doja Cat is half South African of Zulu ethnicity (South Africa's largest ethnic group), through her father who is a South African and a famous film co- producer of the film "Sarafina"
This type of Afrobeat is actually a common type of beat style under a South African genre called House (that is how the term is referred to locally, although on an international spectrum it might be stated otherwise) and, a few house DJs and musicians would be for example : DJ Black Coffee, MI CASA, DJ Fresh, Bucie, Prince Kaybee, etc Also she uses 3 accents throughout this entire video ranging from a slight South African, to a mainly Nigerian pigeon (Nigerian pigeon is very similar to Jamaican patois because a lot of slaves were taken from that part of Africa, so it's easy to get confused with the accent), and then during the last part of her rap verse she uses a slight Caribbean accent , and @2:13 is a dance style from the South African genre known as Amapiano
Even the style of clothing in the especially the second half of this music video is very South African (in terms of the clothes worn by the some of the tribes)
- From South Africa's neighbouring country, Namibia
I know the video has many references to MJ but that last scene at the end has to do with the Daphne myth where she gets transformed into a laurel tree!! I'm sure this video has more references to Egyptian goddesses and other things but I can't tell which ones yet. Love your reactions as always :)
Her becoming one with the tree reminded me more of the goddess Te Fiti from Moana and how she became one with the land again at the end. but the whole appearing and disappearing with the gold dust did surely bring me back to MJ and his song Do You Remember the Time lolol
OMGGGGGGG WEE HAVE BEEN WATING OMGGG. honestly since this came out I have not played anything else❤🤣there reaction will always be top tier for reaction always making me laugh🤣🤣
Im late to the reaction but I was Waiting for this. ❤️🥰😍 This video was incredible she's stunning, Teyana is stunning. Everything about Doja is just AMAZING. I look forward to everything she drops.
I hope she does a video for Options because it’s my second favorite song off the album after Woman. Also Ain’t Shit is on the album, just the N word is not in the title. Not sure how she can release it as a single because she’s gonna have to censor most of the song 😂
I see you played the entire video out, unlike the Silk Sonic performance at the Soul Train Awards! Please play 'Fly As Me' Silk Sonic's performance at the Soul Train Awards.
I've been waiting for ya'll to react to the mv i said the exact same thing remember the time and Junie looks identical to Teyana said CEO like a Robyn Fenty said CEO like Robyn Fenty
May you please react to Joshua Bassett Crisis, secret, and set me free PS set me free is about SA he went through as a child he talks about all 3 songs on GQ interview
ok so i checked the comments to see if anyone else said it but i didn’t see anyone do it so i suppose i will: the reason you didn’t see ain’t sh*t on the album tracklist is because you were looking at the clean version of the album lol. that song has way too much profane language to have a clean version to it at all. think of all the words that would have to be changed lol. that’s also why it cannot be a single. it originally was charting like a single on hot 100 for weeks. it’s popular but cannot be sent to radio bc it would need a clean version so. we’re not getting a video for ain’t sh*t 😭
Bro. Yah really gotta listen to Tierra Wack. Please do a reaction video to her. Her is music is 🔥She is so slept on as a female rapper in this industry!! She has a new EP out called RAP or check out her last album Whack world, with the visual on UA-cam!!
You guys should react to some afrobeats (burna boy, wizkid, fireboy dml) I think you’d like it, and some Harry styles (watermelon sugar, adore you, lights up) :)
She said she wanted to get more in touch with her South African side..and in the video she is representing different African goddesses
It’s not giving African goddess at all
@@AngelaElikya lol you clearly don’t pay attention Teyana was a queen that summoned her with magic.
@@rayshawnphoenix2135 I saw that part and again it doesn’t give African goddess. Next case.
@@AngelaElikya don’t really care how you feel lol I’ll stick with what the director’s description of what they made
@@rayshawnphoenix2135 you definitely do care you literally made 2 comments trying to correct me about « how I feel » 🤡🤡
doja has me feelin some type of way every time i listen and see her
Don’t worry all of us feel like that 😭
Same! 🥵🥵
@DEVIL BOY Never Broke Again ♪ facts
Yassss😩😩😏😏😏
Bruh shut up
This is more space South African than Egyptian Doja is half South African
Nah it’s giving specifically Egyptian Goddess
@@AngelaElikya yeah the aesthetic looks egyptian cause of the colours and sand... but the clothes, the makeup, everything screams south africa
@@utoke8873 i can see it
@@utoke8873 yesss🤎✨

Thank you for this comment! You out here educating and breaking down the facts! Nice
@@Bunny-mw2lo Thank you very much, I appreciate the compliment!🤍
Thank you.
So you copy and pasted this whole paragraph because.......
I watched doja performances at these concerts on UA-cam and she kills it everytime

If I'm not mistaken, that lean back dance move is western or southern African, which may be her paying homage to her South African half 🤔
