Yes! This was when Marvel was establishing themselves with heroes who have "feet of clay" as Stan Lee said. Heroes that have real world problems like you or me. Spider-Man was the geeky teenage high school student long before geek was cool. Basically he was like any of us at that age. But suddenly ... superpowers! So the life of Spider-Man is suffering.
@@testfire3000 and the best part is all that was just an accident and anyone could have become Spiderman, that's why I don't like Andrew's Spidey bcz he was destined to be one, his acting is great tho
@@testfire3000what they mean is the idea behind him was it could be anyone, but in the amazing Spider-Man it’s only someone of Parker blood that can be him, ( over simplifying it but yeah) but they also wanted to make sure it was clear they don’t dislike the actor, that help?
@@terogates1 OK, yes that does help a lot. In ASM only Parker blood could be Spider-Man, that was an important plot point. I get the original point. Thanks!
Regarding Tony, he knew Peter could help out against the other Avengers, but only because he knew they wouldn't kill him. It wasn't like Cap was going to kill Peter. And Tony DID tell him to just stay back and "web 'em up". Tony never intended for Peter to be doing the heavy lifting in that fight. He knows the Vulture isn't going to go easy on him. So he's more concerned. (Love you guys!)
Oh good point. Even while divided against Team Tony, Team Cap were not killers or even villains. Those guys robbing the ATM with high tech weapons could have cut him in half with that energy weapon. And of course Vulture flat out said he was going to kill him for interference.
@@testfire3000 mean they definitely are killers. Just relunctant ones. Cap, Sam, Clint, and Bucky all are soldiers/ spys who all have no issue with killing when it is needed or necessary. We see them bodying goons all the time. Out of all of the avengers, the only ones who have a no kill policy is maybe Bruce when he’s not raging out. Everyone else typically looks to kill. Which is what lokis rant to natasha and Lutron’s rant to them in the first meetup was about..
@@testfire3000 As Falcon said in that movie "this isn't the real fight." The main intent never was to hurt each other but for team Tony to stop Cap and Bucky from getting in the jet and chase after Zola. This was before Tony knew what Zola really did.
yeah, Spidey was worried about making a good impression for Stark, and he actually pulled way more weight than Tony likely anticipated (to the point he needed to get put in time out)
In Civil War, Tony Stark knew that none of the superheroes were going to actively try to kill Peter. He can't say the same for the villains, so he tells Peter to stick with the more mundane crimes.
I think the mixed signals Peter got from Tony is just Tony failing to articulate that unlike Captain America and his team, someone like the Vulture would actually try to kill him.
This version of Spider-Man actually was 14 when Tony recruited him, the youngest ever. He was only a freshman in high school. He may have been 15 in this movie. He has that conversation with Tony when Tony says he needs the suit back, the whole "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it."
lol that scene was hard to watch (in a good(?) way) "Everyone said I was crazy recruiting a 14 year old kid-" "I'm 15...--" "--No, this is where YOU ZIP IT." Idek remember if those are the exact lines but man.. I can feel my younger self cringing in restraint at grown-up disciplinary(?) talk Nice scene for sure
@@mylightobscures I love that scene. I love how Tony says, "God, I sound like my father (or dad, not sure)." LOL and you just KNOW he hated to say that. I love what their relationship eventually turned into. Tony seeing Peter's and his picture in the kitchen made him decide to go ahead with the time travel thing, I'm sure of it. When he hugged Peter in Endgame and Peter's like, "Oh... this is nice." I swear, the onion ninjas were coming in droves.
@@Stardust_7273 yeah, they had a nice bond It was nice to see them both experience something akin to a father-son dynamic again: Tony having lost his parents also pretty young (relatively?) and Peter having lost presumably his Uncle Ben... Though they never explicitly state it, that scene where Ned discovers Peter is Spider-Man and is sworn into secrecy because Peter said May was already dealing with something big... I always assumed it was the relatively recent loss of Ben since Peter hadn't been Spider-Man for very long at that point Oof rambling now
@@mylightobscures Nah, it’s cool, I ramble too. I think you’re right, they threw in that line about all she’s been through, that wasn’t an accident. Peter also has a suitcase in Far From Home with the initials BFP (Benjamin Franklin Parker) on it. So he did have an Uncle Ben, and it always coincides that Ben dies just after Peter gets his powers. And Peter does say that he’s only had the powers for six months.
That reaction to Keaton being what’s her face’s dad was priceless 😂. My theater lost their shit. The girl behind me was so mad he was her dad that she cried 💀
This isn’t Michael Keaton’s first comic book superhero movie. He was also 1989 Batman. While we only had one fully costumed supervillain, this film featured a few other enemies of Spider-Man. Aside from the two Shockers, Phineas Mason is the Tinkerer and Mac Gargan is the Scorpion. Aaron’s nephew is Miles Morales. In the comics, he’s another incarnation of Spider-Man. Miles is also the lead character in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. I know it won top tier for a recent poll. So I’m excited for you guys to check it out. The sequel Across the Spider-Verse is in theaters now, but rumors are that it’ll arrive on digital next month.
Unrelated, but I have the Shocker action figure from the 90s animated Spider-Man, the one with the net pattern costume. I brought that toy everywhere like a good luck charm when I was a kid 😂
I mean in terms of Tony saying he’s not ready, he saying he’s not ready to fight villains. when he was recruiting him in Civil War he was fighting other superheroes, superheroes which Tony knew. That being said I don’t think Tony would ever have Put Peter in that situation if he knew that cap was looking to kill or seriously hurt him. All cap was wanting to do was leave.
yeah, plus Tony was desperate for muscle and just called in the only card he apparently had at the time, as stated in the very scene before Peter's introduction in Civil War
As a New Yorker my whole life, I love that Queens has such a strong present feeling in this movie. If you've lived there, there's moments where it feels so delightfully like Queens.
One thing to remember when it comes to Civil War, Stark was bringing Peter to face off against other "heros" people that aren't really trying to outright kill each other (with a few exceptions).
Yeah, the only serious injury (Rhodey) was an accident. No one on Team Cap would have tried to seriously hurt Spider-Man beyond just getting him out of the fight.
Keep in mind with them not using Zendaya much in this movie: this was her feature film debut and she was was still the main character of the Disney Channel show KC Undercover. When I watched the movie in theaters, most people basically knew her as that Disney Channel actor. With The Greatest Showman coming out later that year, this was basically the beginner of her A-list actor journey.
I've always loved & understood Spider-Man, even as a kid when it probably shouldn't have made sense to me. But there was something about Homecoming that REALLY made me go "Oh. This is why I love Spider-Man".
I like that Peter is willing to save his opponents, just as long as he doesn’t spare someone he shouldn’t. I’m afraid he’ll do that if he hasn’t already. Toomes is a decent guy who was looking out for his family after the higher ups screwed him over.
I love how they didn't do the whole "Spider man orgin" on how he got his powers, The writers got the fact that we already knew since there's like 2 versions already. Also that the title "Homecoming" was not only because there's a homecoming dance, But it's because Spider-Man is back home with the MCU where he should be instead in the clutches of Sony. :) No there's won't be any kind of back story on Peter's family, I think that was just buildup from the "Amazing Spiderman" which went nowhere. Same with the build up of the "Sinister Six" with the start of the Rino, which sucked because I was looking forward to the Rino and what they do with him. Great reactions guys, can't wait to see the other MCU Reactions. :)
you say in the clutches of sony, but the fact that sony has the rights to spider-man is probably the only reason why no way home was like the only really good project since endgame.
@@DatAsianGuySony has held more L’s than Marvel… SpiderVerse aside, they’re still taking L’s. Even on their worst day, Marvel still has better collective stories than Sony’s superhero collection…
@@thedefinitionisthis You sure about that? Let's look at all the "Sony" Spider-man movies. Homecoming Trilogy (3 Movies), Into the Spider-verse, Across the Spider-Verse, Venom, Venom 2, Morbius, Raimi Trilogy (3 movies) and Webb's Duoligy (2 movies). The homecoming movies are overall good. critics and audience scores are high. Both Spider-verse movies have been major hits and are critically acclaimed. Venom 1 and 2, has a more mixed reception, but imdb and rotten tomatoes have it both still majority positive. IMDB actually has suprisingly 8/10 for Venom 1 Morbius speaks for itself. made a morbillion dollars. Raimi's SM1 and SM2 are both critically acclaimed. Spider-Man 3's reception is more mild, but I personally think it's also a good movie, but too crowded. TASM 1 had overall good reviews. TasM 2 was a bit more mixed, but still majority positive. 10 out of 13 movies had an overall good reception. And I will predict that the third Spider-Verse movie will also be good and it might be 11 out of 14. However, the new Kraven movie might make it a 11 out 15. But so far under Sony Spider-Man has done pretty well. I mostly based the reception on audience scores. So you were saying? edit: BONUS ROUND! Let's not forget that under Sony we got one of the most accurate and best Spider-Man adaptations ever. The Spectacular Spider-Man animated show. And Marvel's animated shows afterwards fail to live up to it. so 11 out 14 (released as of June, 2023) projects have been received mostly positive by critics and/or audiences.
Not sure if you guys know but one cool thing that you guys missed was Donald Glover saying that he has a nephew that lives in that neighborhood. That was hinting towards Miles Morales who was also Spider-Man later on. And just so you guys know that Spider-Man and Batman are the two most popular superheroes ever hands down. A lot of the MCU characters gained popularity because of the movies.
My absolute favourite Spider-Man movie. It captures who Peter is and gives us a fun high school movie where he we really see the struggle of trying to be both Peter and Spider-Man. A lot of times thats just showin the beginning for a bit until the focus gets shifted to the fight against the big bad. Here, the high school movie is on the forefront and that was a great decision. Im convinced that a lot of people just dont like Tom Hollands Spider-Man because he got popular and they are nostalgic for Tobey Maguire.
I like each of the actors who have played Spider-Man over the past couple decades. Toby is very nostalgic since before him we only got cartoons and a very goofy live action TV series in the 70s. Tobey, Andrew and Tom have all done great work and I find something to enjoy about every movie.
I cant honestly wait for you guys to watch the next spiderman and Avengers movies! You will without a doubt, not be disappointed I was thinking of buying your patreon just so I could watch the full movie with you guys!
I am actually surprised they said they play the full movie on their full-length Patreon reaction. The whole point of every other reactor NOT including the whole movie in their Patreon channels is because of copyright issues. I mean, just UA-cam puts a lot of hoops that reactors have to get through to be able to post and monetize their reaction videos. One second too long of a popular song playing in the video and it gets struck down, for example. "The Perfect Mix" would be playing the whole move "for free" while also getting paid by their Patreon subscribers. Unless they haven't been caught? I'm not a subscriber to their Patreon, so I don't know how they get away with it (not a complaint, obviously).
You have to remember that although you could argue the original batman with Michael Keaton started the rebirth of superhero movies it was really Toby's Spiderman trilogy that did it. Everyone liked the first but opinions vary as the trilogy went on, especially how they handled venom. That's why he's oneof the most popular Also Spiderman has always supposed to have been a high schooler which is what makes him so popular/relatable.
24:56 Wow I *loved* your reaction to the surprise reveal and plot twist! I have seen many reactions to this one and yours is so good!! I am so glad you are both sharing this journey with us!
I had a similar issue with this film. I enjoy spiderman a lot when there's a good mix of a serious tone as well as a comedic one, since there are aspects of peters life that are straight up tragic but yet he still manages to be one of marvels funniest characters in the comics and I don't think any of the live action movies have balanced and executed this well enough (in my opinion). I guess you could argue Tobey's Spiderman was too serious where as Tom's in this movie was too comedic and light hearted for my taste. This one felt like Disney channel spiderman to me.
@@Tallgeese556 I mean, I'm guessing but maybe he might just be a spiderman fan who doesn't agree with the opinion of every other spiderman fan on Earth
When you said “Spider-Man is overrated” I got sad lmfao you’re entitled to your own opinion and I respect that. Spider-Man is and will always be top of Marvel. There’s just so many good stories for Spidey that makes him so relatable and grounded. Also he’s taken down most of the avengers and X-men by himself in the comics. But that’s years of his experiences 🤷🏾♂️
That's why I'm like. Well when you watch all the movies back to back in the era of new spiderman content. I would assume it's gonna feel like that 😭 we didn't get to do that.
One of the main reasons he’s so mainstream is because that was Stan lee’s favorite character. Also his first character that he made on his own without his partner
Great reaction as always. I'm guessing that when they were in the car, the Vulture assumed that Peter Parker was like him and had no powers without the suit, and that's why he felt confident enough to threaten Peter.
fun fact that u will probs learn when u start watching the spiderverse animated films. donald glover is the reason miles morales (black spiderman) exists as a petition in the 00's started to cast him as spiderman inspired a comic writer at marvel to write a black spiderman character called miles morales and in this film he play's miles' uncle arron davis and in a deleted scene he is seen on the phone to miles saying he's gonna be back late cause his hand is stuck to the car still
woahhh, I had no idea he actually inspired the creation of Miles That's crazy Hope the MCU does eventually bring in Miles at some point and bring back Glover to be part of whatever story that could have
Peter's "family" never had much money. I wouldn't be surprised if Aunt May furneshed the apartment from a thrift store and bought whatever she could afford. Remember Peter salvaging an old Mac from the garbage in Civil War?
Also you see Ned visits him a lot so it works out in a way for Ned to be able to sleep somewhere in case of a sleepover or for late night studying since him and Ned are on the academics team. At least that's the theory I have in my head that I like.
11:34 Tony brought him into the Civil War fight essentially as an audition, to see how he performs under pressure and to see how he handles himself against other people with abilities that are equal or close to his. Tony is slowly grooming him to become the best hero he can be. And at 20:15, Donald Glovers character is actually a villian in the spider-verse known as The Prowler, and the nephew he mentions is Miles Morales, aka Spider-Man.
The reason Peter isn’t apart of the accords like the other avenger members is not only because he isn’t an avenger but nobody outside of Tony knows that Peter is Spider-Man at the moment. Awesome reaction ! Spider-Man is and always be my favorite superhero, he’s so relatable and constantly makes mistakes and has to put his responsibilities over his desires & needs because it is the right thing to do. He is human being in every aspect, just like us. Plenty of great superheroes in both DC & Marvel but I’ve never related more than I did to Peter Parker.
Fun fact: Childish Gambino being in this movie was not just a celebrity cameo - The "nephew" he's talking about is Miles Morales. Childish Gambino is the MCU's Prowler.
@@imjorkingmypeanits It's not, when Karen displays the info on him you can see at the bottom right "Other Aliases" and one of them is the Prowler. Not only that, but his name is literally Aaron Davis. Even when homecoming came out years ago he was the MCU Prowler
3:00 In the comics Peter Parker is 16 when he's bit but there's been a lot of different takes on things especially in the movies. Tobey Peter was bit at either 17 or 18 as it looks like he's a senior in those films with how close the graduation is. Andrew Peter was bit at also 17 or 18 as it once again looks like he's senior with how quickly he graduates in the franchise. Tom Peter is 15 when he's bit but 16 for homecoming, 17 for far from home and No Way Home (if we don't count the blip as them aging at all). Some movies venture even younger with the Spiderverse movies having Miles bitten at 14 and Gwen bitten at 13 (if you want to know why I know when Gwen was bit in the spiderverse movies i'll tell you.
Y’all are criminally underrating Spider-Man. He’s great and held at a pedestal not because he’s the strongest or smartest but because of his ideologies and relatability. He suffers much more than most heroes and has to deal with every day problems like us. He gives such a human response to all of his problems by saving all his villains. He’s different and better than most heroes like iron man or doctor strange because he does more than just look out for the universe. He is the man of the people who looks out for the little guy and has helped kids with homework and played with kids with cancer. He in touch with humanity and gives his all. He sees worth in everybody and never gives up. So no he is not overrated. Y’all just want to see big powered heroes but Peter has so much depth that y’all aren’t seeing. Plus you guys also are watching these movies back to back instead of the rest of us growing with these heroes and gaining life lessons applying them to our life from these movies as we grow with them. Comics and movies and shows and games. All helped us through our lives more than any other hero. Stan lee felt the same which is why Spider-Man was his favorite too. So y’all back off he ain’t overrated.
38:04 Its funny you say that becasue a lot of people don't like the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies because they "MCU it" lol. While I cherish the old Spider-Man movies and hold them highly, I still enjoyed this movie, even if it's not one of my favorites.
Feels like yesterday when I saw this I’m theaters, had low expectations after being a fan of the OG and Garfield’s Spider-Man and ended up loving this, y’all in for a treat with this trilogy and crazy thing there’s even more potential for the college trilogy.
People like Spider-Man so much because he is so relatable. Not no matter how he tries, he always looses the people closest to him. He is also one of the strongest characters in the marvel universe. If he didn’t pull his punches, he would literally kill everyone. The MCU kinda nerf him.
9:49 Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover was actually indirectly the inspiration for the creation of Miles Morales. In an episode of Community he dressed up in Peter Parker’s classic red and blue webs. Brian Michael Bendis - who was writing The New Avengers at the time took a cue, and created Miles Morales in Marvels Ultimate Spider-Man book. He said he did it so his adoptive children could have a superhero they could relate to.
Zendaya being MJ was meant to be a Twist Ending when this came out. We just knew her as Michelle until she called herself MJ at the end. That’s why she wasn’t so prominent in this one. It’s actually kind of similar to how MJ was introduced in the comics: for a while, we just knew her name, and Peter was not looking forward to meeting her until it was revealed she was attractive and charismatic.
In case you guys don't know, no, Spider-Man is not restricted by the Sokovia Accords. The Accords only affect the Avengers and superpowered people in SHIELD's ranks (I remember Yo-Yo Rodriguez had to sign the Accords at one point during the Agents of SHIELD tv show). Spider-Man and other superheroes that operate independently from the Avengers and SHIELD are safe. And the Accords got repealed sometime after Avengers Endgame, Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil in She-Hulk Attorney At Law confirmed this.
You realize that makes zero sense, yes? It has nothing to do with SHIELD. it has to do with heroes operating internationally. Also, you should know by now, AOS is not canon in the MCU. It's a one way street. Nothing in the shows affects the movies.
Tell Marvel Studios that it doesn't make sense. The Avengers and SHIELD operate internationally. Spider-Man and other "grounded" heroes like him and Daredevil operate only in their cities. Oh, and that last sentence? Laughable. Agents of SHIELD was affected by the movies, not the other way around.
Spiderman is mostly “overrated” because Stan lee said that was his favorite character. It demands a certain level of respect to have that title even if you don’t like him.
Thank you for sharing your reaction to this. Jacob Batalon(Ned) and Angourie Rice(Betty Brandt, the school reporter) are both memorable in the fantasy movie, "Every Day."
11:50 Because Tony knew that the heroes wouldn't try to kill him. Especially cap even though he dropped that transfer station on them he was taking hits from him so he knew how strong he was. And if cap was serious he would have dog walked Peter. So while yes he did fight the avengers he wasn't really fighting them
Things to react to 1. Avengers Infinity War 2. Spiderman Far from home 3. Avengers Endgame 4. Black Panther 5. Loki Series 6. Spiderman Into the spider verse (first one)
Cmon man how we supposed get excited for the next movies after that? 😅. Not to mention they're watching them back to back in the era of new spiderman content. We watched em as they released 😭 kinda feels unfair idk 😩
Disagree. Tobeys Spider-Man was truest to the comics. A nerdy, not popular teen who was quirky and shy around girls and the closest we have to the actual Spider-Man and Peter Parker. This Tom holland version is part of the multiverse hence no Harry Osborne best friend, no Gwen Stacy as his first love, and an iron man suit before the actual regular suit.
In the 60s run of the spiderman comics, Peter parker is 16 when he becomes Spider-Man if Im not mistaken. However, in the ultimate comics, peter is 15 so tom holland's version is more so based on the ultimate spider-man since he's 15 with some elements from the 60s comics.
It probably does come off as weird that Spider-Man gets so much attention today. It mainly comes down to two things: his initial popularity in the books, and how ultra-successful the Raimi movies were. In the 60s there weren’t many younger characters who weren’t automatically sidekicks to older heroes. Spider-Man made waves because he was his own superhero, despite (initially) being a teen. Since he was young and living in a middle/lower class income home, he had very relatable problems. The book was also just really well-written, which made him Marvel’s most popular hero and essentially their mascot. For decades, every Marvel book had a Spidey head in the top left corner of the cover, regardless of the actual title. Then, in the 2000s, Raimi’s Spider-Man was one of the first superhero movies in decades to make a pile of money at the box office. X-Men did well, but Spidey sold STUPID amounts of tickets, off the charts. And ever since, Sony has really pushed hard to make that one of their big franchises, and why they likely won’t ever completely let him go to Disney.
And at the same time we had like a year or two in between movies and games and stuff. They're straight up watching it all in one go. We didn't even get to do that 😅
Spider-man and Batman are the 2 most popular comicbook characters for the last 50 year's so there would be alot of attention to him. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was the 1st movie to make $100 million for the 3 day box-office for a reason.
Spider-Man is the most popular super-hero character all time. He's one of the most relatable to people because of all of his hardships and constant struggle with trying to be a hero while living his life with every day responsibilities. He's also one of the best all around characters, he's genuinely a good dude but also a genius. He could also straight up body most of the Avengers if he wanted to outside of Hulk, Thor, Scarlet Witch. He holds back all of the time for fear or killing someone and something we have never seen is the adult Peter from the comics who is awesome.
@@Khay-77 okay I was just making sure before I said my piece 😅 You don't feel like the opinion is a lil unfair? They're watching them back to back in the era of new spiderman content. We watched em as they released 😭

Trivia time, Peter's teacher was the student Banner bribed with pizza in Hulk. His principal is a descendant of one of Cap's Howling Commandos. (actually the same actor) The reason his Spidey suit had a parachute is Tony didnt want another Rhodey accident.
Traditionally, Betty Brant (edit) is Peter’s first girlfriend. He was crushing on Liz early on and dates her in a couple adaptations like here and the Spectacular cartoon. Gwen comes later, and while he knew MJ during both of those, they wouldn’t get together until after. Peter has had many romantic interests. Kitty Pride is one, Cindy Moon is another, and I believe he’s currently in a relationship with Felicia Hardy. He and Felicia had been circling each other for decades only officially getting together recently.
@@rakeshchettri9956 Given everything that happens to Peter and MJ in FFH and NWH, I would say no. You could probably get away with it in FFH but not in NWH. That movie and what it partially adapts is such an important Peter Parker/MJ story that replacing MJ with Betty would be very awkward in the grand scheme of things.
@@Alllex I actually meant from on start. Like how Toby and and Andrew had different love interest. Just like that homecoming should have been with Liz and Betty instead of Liz and Michelle
-Spider-Man is the flag ship IP of Marvel. SONY and FOX didn't do the best job of making the movies they did. The training wheels protocol makes sense though. Ideally it would gradually introduce different aspects of his suit as he became familiar with the ones before it, instead of giving him full access to everything and overwhelming him, or worse, getting him hurt. The movie does kind of touch on this.

This was before Tony knew what Zola really did.
yeah, Spidey was worried about making a good impression for Stark, and he actually pulled way more weight than Tony likely anticipated (to the point he needed to get put in time out)
Basically a concerned big brother/dad😂
In Civil War, Tony Stark knew that none of the superheroes were going to actively try to kill Peter. He can't say the same for the villains, so he tells Peter to stick with the more mundane crimes.
exactly exactly
I think the mixed signals Peter got from Tony is just Tony failing to articulate that unlike Captain America and his team, someone like the Vulture would actually try to kill him.
I never thought of it like that good call
oh yeah, good point. tony knew that cap would never kill or genuinely harm a child, esp spider-man.
This version of Spider-Man actually was 14 when Tony recruited him, the youngest ever. He was only a freshman in high school. He may have been 15 in this movie. He has that conversation with Tony when Tony says he needs the suit back, the whole "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it."
lol that scene was hard to watch (in a good(?) way)
"Everyone said I was crazy recruiting a 14 year old kid-"
"I'm 15...--"
"--No, this is where YOU ZIP IT."
Idek remember if those are the exact lines but man..
I can feel my younger self cringing in restraint at grown-up disciplinary(?) talk
Nice scene for sure
@@mylightobscures I love that scene. I love how Tony says, "God, I sound like my father (or dad, not sure)." LOL and you just KNOW he hated to say that. I love what their relationship eventually turned into. Tony seeing Peter's and his picture in the kitchen made him decide to go ahead with the time travel thing, I'm sure of it. When he hugged Peter in Endgame and Peter's like, "Oh... this is nice." I swear, the onion ninjas were coming in droves.
@@Stardust_7273 yeah, they had a nice bond
It was nice to see them both experience something akin to a father-son dynamic again: Tony having lost his parents also pretty young (relatively?) and Peter having lost presumably his Uncle Ben...
Though they never explicitly state it, that scene where Ned discovers Peter is Spider-Man and is sworn into secrecy because Peter said May was already dealing with something big... I always assumed it was the relatively recent loss of Ben since Peter hadn't been Spider-Man for very long at that point
Oof rambling now
@@mylightobscures Nah, it’s cool, I ramble too. I think you’re right, they threw in that line about all she’s been through, that wasn’t an accident. And Peter does say that he’s only had the powers for six months.
Yeah he’s 14 in Civil War, 15 in Homecoming, 16 in Infinity War/Endgame, 17 in Far From Home and No Way Home (which takes place right after FFH).

That reveal of Liz's father is one of the best plot twists in the whole MCU.
I believe the right saying then for that moment is that line made famous in Star Wars for when you feel something terrible is afoot.
All cap was wanting to do was leave.
yeah, plus Tony was desperate for muscle and just called in the only card he apparently had at the time, as stated in the very scene before Peter's introduction in Civil War
also Tony da said just keep away and web them up
As a New Yorker my whole life, I love that Queens has such a strong present feeling in this movie. If you've lived there, there's moments where it feels so delightfully like Queens.
Y’all gotta understand too, so many of us just grew up with Spider-Man in our lives
They're watching all of them in a row also 😅
One thing to remember when it comes to Civil War, Stark was bringing Peter to face off against other "heros" people that aren't really trying to outright kill each other (with a few exceptions).

You sure about that? Let's look at all the "Sony" Spider-man movies.
Homecoming Trilogy (3 Movies), Into the Spider-verse, Across the Spider-Verse, Venom, Venom 2, Morbius, Raimi Trilogy (3 movies) and Webb's Duoligy (2 movies).
The homecoming movies are overall good. critics and audience scores are high.
Both Spider-verse movies have been major hits and are critically acclaimed.
Venom 1 and 2, has a more mixed reception, but imdb and rotten tomatoes have it both still majority positive. IMDB actually has suprisingly 8/10 for Venom 1
Morbius speaks for itself. made a morbillion dollars.
And now, they're all in the clutches of Disney. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

The whole smart ass joking around bit is so Spider man. Always has been always will be.
Hit the nail on the head.
I cant honestly wait for you guys to watch the next spiderman and Avengers movies! You will without a doubt, not be disappointed
I was thinking of buying your patreon just so I could watch the full movie with you guys!
@djoscartj I honestly have no idea how they haven't been copyrighted yet lol
You have to remember that although you could argue the original batman with Michael Keaton started the rebirth of superhero movies it was really Toby's Spiderman trilogy that did it. Everyone liked the first but opinions vary as the trilogy went on, especially how they handled venom. That's why he's oneof the most popular Also Spiderman has always supposed to have been a high schooler which is what makes him so popular/relatable.
And personally I think Tom Holland does high schooler much better than the previous actors.
Spider-Man is only a high schooler in his first 2 years of comic history. He’s in college/a young adult for most of the last few decades of stories

Sir, that's a really good question, one that never occured to me until now 😂
Peter's "family" never had much money.
Like father like son relationship in this film
13:27 ned stays with him a lot, notice how he was in when Peter wasn't. It makes sense to have a bunk bed if your best friend stays often

People like Spider-Man so much because he is so relatable. Not no matter how he tries, he always looses the people closest to him. He is also one of the strongest characters in the marvel universe. If he didn’t pull his punches, he would literally kill everyone. The MCU kinda nerf him.
Don’t you worry, Zendaya has much larger roles in the next 2 movies. Her & Holland have unnaturally excellent chemistry

Some people were SO MAD about that Cpt. America trolling post-credit scene, lol. Absolutely perfect in every way.
Odd choice to give them info on future movies but you do you
You realize that makes zero sense, yes? It has nothing to do with SHIELD. it has to do with heroes operating internationally.
Also, you should know by now, AOS is not canon in the MCU. It's a one way street. Nothing in the shows affects the movies.
Tell Marvel Studios that it doesn't make sense. The Avengers and SHIELD operate internationally. Spider-Man and other "grounded" heroes like him and Daredevil operate only in their cities.

Childish Gambino is supposed to be Aaron Davis, Miles’ Uncle.
So great watching you both react to the father reveal.
He holds back all of the time for fear or killing someone and something we have never seen is the adult Peter from the comics who is awesome.

the 8 years later bit at the beginning was an editing mistake by Sony...it's supposed to be 4 years later
I can actually see the “spiderman is overrated” comment and as a spiderman fan can say literally nothing to that BUT the animated spiderman movies for miles tho? AMAZING
I get it to but look bro. They're watching them back to back in the era of new spiderman content. We watched em as they released 😭 kinda feels unfair idk 😩
I thought betty brant was Peter's first girlfriend
@@rakeshchettri9956 Oh you’re absolutely right. The Spectacular cartoon fogging my memory. Yeah Betty was the first
@@Alllex I have to ask. Do you think mcu could have replaced Michelle Jones with Betty Brant???
@@rakeshchettri9956 Given everything that happens to Peter and MJ in FFH and NWH, I would say no. You could probably get away with it in FFH but not in NWH. That movie and what it partially adapts is such an important Peter Parker/MJ story that replacing MJ with Betty would be very awkward in the grand scheme of things.
@@Alllex I actually meant from on start. Like how Toby and and Andrew had different love interest. Just like that homecoming should have been with Liz and Betty instead of Liz and Michelle
Calling Andrew Garfield 'Andy Griffin' is crazy😭😂
20:10 you guys know he is super strong.. 😅😅 just from that..
She said “That’s Garcelle from Real Housewives” and not “Thags Fancy from the Jamie Foxx Show” 😔
-Spider-Man is the flag ship IP of Marvel. SONY and FOX didn't do the best job of making the movies they did. They basically were just making stuff up and churning out movies so that they wouldn't lose the filming rights back to Marvel/Disney.
-If I were you, I would research the Civil War Saga. The actual comic series. It was MUCH larger than the movies portrayed. It involved the ENTIRE Marvel Universe. The WHOLE roster and Spider-Man was a very important part in the story. It was its own series and also leaked into individual comics of many different characters. If you can't find it, or don't want to read it, here are a couple of videos on it. One is a short synopsis and the other is a more in-depth account of what happened. Marvel unfortunately couldn't do it on the scale of the comics cause it hadn't introduced characters and many others filming rights weren't there's. Check these out and enjoy...

-This is probably the best interation of Spider-Man to date. The right age, etc....
-Peter had the bunk bed cause he had been living with May and Ben since he was 6 years old. They never got rid of the bunk bed.
-Peter's parents "died" in a plane crash. There is a whole lot more to the story, but I guess that's the base line story....
-Peter has had a bunch of girlfriends. MJ is the most widely known and popular, but there has been: Betty Brant (First love. J Jonah Jameson's assistant), Mary Jane Watson (blind date set up by their Aunts), Gwen Stacy (college), Priscilla "Cissy" Ironwood (interesting couple of dates), Debra Whitman (short, but she was crazy), Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat (just before marrying MJ), Captain Jean DeWolff (Not, really a girlfriend cause she got killed before Peter figured it out that she liked him), Jill Stacy (Gwen's cousin), Sarah Rushman aka Marrow (one of the X-Men), Kitty Pryde (another X-Men), Michele Gonzales (a roommate after is marriage was erased), Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (more flirting than anything else, but went on a couple of dates), Carlie Cooper (NYPD forensic tech who was involved in the Spider-Man activities), Silver Sable (co-worker relationship that never fully blossomed), Anna Maria Marconi (Not truly a relationship of Peters' since Doc Oct took over his body), Cindy Moon aka Silk (getting bit by the same spider that bit Peter, they would get an animalistic attraction to each other when they were in close proximity), Lian Tang (a scientific tech in his corporation), Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird (during the time Peter was a wealthy CEO, he had dealings with S.H.E.I.L.D. and she was the full-time superhero liaison. I think this was before she married Hawkeye, but I don't remember...)
Thor ragnorok is next, which is one of the mcu’s most beloved movies, which sets up infinity war. Besides civil war the top 3 films are getting near….infinity war, endgame, and a little later no way home are by far the best
The acress who voices the AI in Peter's suit is marries to Paul Bettany, who is the voice for Jarvis and plays Vision.
The hug at the beginning was improvised and RDJ just went with it
"That's big talk without your suit on, stupid!" Hahaha😂
The voice of Spiderman's suit is Jennifer Connelly, she's married to Paul Vettany, who does the voice of Jarvis/Vision.
You wanna Bett on that???
@@TedBrogan Sure.
@@blindsurvival8570 sorry, I can't. My dog has an appointment with the Bet.
@@TedBrogan So you're making bets when you know that your dog has appointments? Actually, I don’t even know what you're betting. If you don’t know that Jennifer is married to Paul, you may want to look that up first.
Spiderman and Wolverine are my 2 favorite superhero’s
Y'all reactions be WILD!!! LMAO!!! At 24:55! LOL And your other videos too y'all have the same reaction to moments like an old eternal romantic elderly couple! Love it! lol
Fun fact: Donald glover being in this movie teased miles morales
spider-man is easily the coolest marvel character hahaha
lmao Tony was treating him like a kid in the beginning telling him to stay away and just web people up
“That’s big talk without your suit, STUPID”😂 woulda been hilarious if Peter just kicked his ass right then
Tony knew that Cap and his team would not try to kill Peter. The guys working for Vulture *would*
That's why Tony didn't want him chasing after them
Did robotics since elementary school and now I've just graduated high school and am going to college. Robotics team in high school made it to worlds. I'm proud of us
Tony changed his mind on Spidermans readiness after Falcon was permanently injured in Civil War...
The training wheels protocol makes sense though. Ideally it would gradually introduce different aspects of his suit as he became familiar with the ones before it, instead of giving him full access to everything and overwhelming him, or worse, getting him hurt. The movie does kind of touch on this.
