The decks from this list I use and have found helpful as a beginner/collector: Robin Wood, Everyday Witch, Light Seer. I also like the Awaken Tarot for a more traditional take on the Waite Smith with modernized imagery.
this might hurt is my go to deck. I absolutely love it. I have the black holo edged I love it. I would also suggest the tarot of the divine. dirt cheap a cool linen texture and very easy imagery for my newbie friends to grasp

My daughter loved the everyday witch tarot. (She is now 19 but started at 17) I have the lights ears. The art is so pretty and I've found the deck uplifting and intuitive too. Great video.
This was a great video. I've been learning Tarot and collecting decks for a couple of years now, but I was unfamiliar with some of these decks and pleased to learn about them. I loved seeing the Robin Wood Tarot included, as that was the deck I began with, and I have found it such a joy to read with no matter how many more decks I get.
I absolutely love Light Seer's Tarot with the Sacred Creator's Oracle. You just convinced me to go ahead and purchase the Unfolding Path Tarot. It was between Unfolding Path and This Might Hurt 😊
I'm do glad you have put traditional deck on top of it. For me it was SO DIFFICULT to learn Tarot with art deck, having tiny book and no resources to understand deck better. My frustration was ON TOP. I have bought later on Golden Art Nouveau deck wich is very similar to traditional one and I was finally able to read tarot. Months of frustration! 🥲
Some great choices. Love Tarot of Oneness which I found on your site! Oddly one of my favorite decks to learn from was Deviant Moon, because it's quirky and the images, though matching RWS, are so memorable they helped me memorize the card meanings. The 5 Cent Tarot is also useful if you like keywords for upright and reversed. And I find Shadowland to be another RWS (but weird) deck that gave me something fun and different than the RWS's lovely (but dated) artwork and the book is awesome. Thanks, Lisa!
Hi, thank you for the video. I have to say that they all look so beautiful! I have already Curious Creatures by Chris Anne which is stunning and colourful! So I think I am going to go with the Lighters one. Panda one also looks amazing!! Only one I don’t like is Everyday Witch. I can’t connect with it at all… i don’t like the pics, as they are too cluttered, not diverse as everyone is white which I find boring and some of the characters wear white fur. Usually witches tend to be highly connected to animals, so am I… and that fur disturbs my readings. I don’t even feel like giving it away… so it just sits there unused. Has everyone ever tried Ask The Witch? I have read great reviews on that tarot deck
Had I known that I was going to become a tarot nerd, I definitely would have started with the original RWS, so I absolutely second your choice for #1. Again a super video for beginners and advanced learners that are looking for an easy reader!

Oh gosh, my dream deck doesn't exist (and probably won't ever exist), but it'd be super awesome if Rachel Pollack would ever release a Doom Patrol tarot; especially if it'd have input from Grant Morrison and Richard Case. Nice list! The Anna K helped me so much with understanding the court cards when I started out. And the Tarot of oneness, wow so beautiful 🤩 I have never seen it before and I need to learn more about it! Maybe it will be my first independent deck.

The tarot vintage by lo scarebeo is my favorite version of rws. The guide book is better than the da brigh one too. Although I love the linen card stock on the da brigh one.
Awesome video. I agree with you in the the original RWS deck is the best to start with. That’s where I started. The I bought the Good Karma Tarot and the Everyday Witch Tarot shortly after that. Those were the base decks I learned the RWS system on. I love the Tarot of Oneness. It’s close to my top favorite deck overall. I would also Highly Recommend your Tarot with Training Wheels course. I learned so much from that and your tips during the course. 🌟🌟🌟

You absolutely can - but I will say that 78 Degrees of Wisdom does reference RWS imagery - it goes far beyond that though and I think it's worth a read regardless of which deck you're using (as long as your deck is RWS-based). :)
I'm not a beginner but I bought the Good Karma after you spoke about it some time ago, and I enjoy it. It practically reads itself and it's very optimistic and warm. The Anna K. is among my all-time favourites, it looks to me like a story book, and the stories pop from the cards. One thing about the court cards: I read somewhere that the young girls on the Aces are either daughters of the royal couple or the queens as children. That's an interesting thought, and it connect the Aces with the Courts which makes sense since you can put each suit in a circular motion, and then the King connects to the Ace. Lovely lovely court cards, so expressive and easy to understand. The Light Seer's Tarot is also wonderful, it's so clear and vibrant. I don't know your other recommendations but they all look very interesting. Looking forward to your Unicorn deck. I'm sure the journey of this unicorn will be enlightening and empowering.
I never noticed about the aces in Anna K. Had to take them out and look. The ace can be the young queen or a daughter for sure! Can add another level to a tarot reading. Thanks for mentioning it 🙏
I wish so much that your unicorn tarot could become a mass market deck 😭 I would have purchased it right away. Unfortunately indie decks are way too expensive and adding in the shipment cost as well. Just too much Regardless. It's looking absolutely amazing and I'm wishing you the best with it ❤️
