I never had problems with Atlas or Commando cams and lifters, until the MK2A and MK3 cams in 1974-5. I used WEB Cam to re work the cam cores with race profiles and the cams gave excellent results and great performance gains. My MK3 street bike is a rocket with their # 12 street cam. Great power through the whole rev range from idle to 7 thousand and beyond.
I had a chocolate cam on my Mk3 Commando in 1986, i lost compression on one cylinder took the barrel off and one lobe was worn round, there were also rub marks on a pushrod and i had to remove some metal in the pushrod tunnel that the pushrod was rubbing on, it ran great after that.
Very well put together and explained, thanks for informing us on these cams and followers.
Glad it was helpful!

Sounds like a good solution
I just had my MK III motor rebuilt it’s not in the bike yet - should I replace the cam?
