    "deadliest matter ever existed"
    even if we ignore the various stellar stuff out there, i would say an actual nuke is a bit more deadly, especially the bigger ones.

    • @KamiNoBaka1
      @KamiNoBaka1 3 місяці тому

      At the same time, a nuke can sit around disarmed and not be a danger to anyone in that state. The detonation is the reaction, not the material itself. Even the demon core incident wasn't due to the material itself, it was due to mishandling that caused a criticality event.
      Meanwhile corium, with its mix of nuclear fuel and fission products, is super radioactive and you can't just turn that off.

    For anyone curious about the last clip (the nuclear blast simulation), it's actually a VR game on Steam called "Perspectives: Paradise." According to the Steam page, it not only has a simulation of being in the blast radius of the Ivy Mike test, but it also covers some of the surrounding history.

    I so wish my little sister didn't spend so much of her free time on tiktok. Her attention span has deteriorated to being almost non-existent. And, some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth? Oh boy.

    I saw a pilot reacting to airplane "safety advice" on TikTok, and most of it was conspiracy theories and/or very harmful. These videos were surprisingly un-shit in comparison!

    • @Mr.Mojito-parrotlord
      @Mr.Mojito-parrotlord 3 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, it’s probably there is more data and research open to anyone while plane security is something that is less wide spread. I am sure though that you could find similar things on nuclear, people are desperate for views or dumb. Be healthy!

    • @Canyobility
      @Canyobility 3 місяці тому +8

      I would also assume the pilot, who I am assuming is 74 Gear, may of searched more for that kind of videos specifically while Tyler just reacted to the highlights; I never used this specific social media platform however I assume those are the best rated. Please correct me if I am wrong.
      Given the amount of misinformation and overall scare nuclear power can bring, I bet he could find wackier theories if he really wanted to.

    An ukrain guy in a camera forum showed a pic of one of the cameras they used to take pictures of f.e. the elephants foot, it is completely cased in a lead box and operates over 3 mirrors so the camera or the film doesn't get damaged.
    There are plenty of pictures without any grain from radiation.

    Mixing thorium with plutonium is another option for building a molten salt reactor. Although molten salt reactors with thorium fuel have only been used in research applications, combining thorium with plutonium may bring more advantages.
    The first advantage is that using a mix of thorium and plutonium creates a self-regulating fuel combination, which means the reactor can maintain its own temperature and adjust its output accordingly. Additionally, the mix of thorium and plutonium creates fewer radioactive waste products and thus generates less nuclear waste. Finally, using thorium as a fuel source reduces the risk of proliferation.

    OK but those numbers are from the 1980's. In the 90's still lethal but less hot by the 2010's you could stand next to it for several hours correct? I wouldn't recommend it but it decayed exponentially. If only we had some one who didn't know everything nuclear but had a lot to share!!!! Assuming its mainly fission products: I131 (decayed away) strontium 90 (a few half lives) cobalt60 (one half life) and a few others wouldn't be tolerable to enter in full PPE take a chunk then put it in a lead box leave quickly, and you would be fine?

    • @robertsneddon731
      @robertsneddon731 2 місяці тому

      The authorities sampled the Chernobyl "elephant's foot" not long after it formed using a very Soviet method, they got someone with an AK-47 to shoot it and chip off some lumps. Really.
      The dangerous fission products that remain in the "elephant's foot" are going to be mostly Strontium-90 and Cesium-137 since they both have half-lives of around 30 years. There wouldn't be much Cobalt-60 in comparison. The ratios of fission products in a working reactor follow what's called the M-curve, that is most of them have atomic numbers close to half that of a U-235 nucleus with a dip in the middle of the "M" around 118 so the spent fuel contains a lot of isotopes with atomic numbers between roughly 90 and 140 and not much of any heavier or lighter isotopes. Cobalt-60 might be produced by neutron irradiation of regular Cobalt-59 in a reactor but it's normal to make reactor equipment with non-cobalt steels and materials to avoid neutron activation.

    Turning off AC is pointless. AC has internal close loop of coolant that goes from inside unit to outside unit and vice versa, there is no air in/out from house involved.

      The one thing you don't want is a fan blowing around things in the house, which is why they turned it off. It's best to let everything settle onto the ground instead of being blown around if and when the fallout gets into the house.

      as much i hate tiktok and its numerous negative effects on people, the bill would set legal precedent to ban _any_ foreign operated media company. The government having even more power to control the dissemination of information is not good at all.
