Also, Lady Gaga literally broke her hip on stage during her Born This Way Ball Tour and you know what she did? SHE FINISHED THE DAMN SET! Honestly she deserved a pass to leave the stage and cancel the rest of the show but she stayed! As far as the pain issues, I was born with congenital hip issues resulting in me getting my first major hip surgery with 2 screws implanted in my hip when I was 12. The solution is to never give an artist more than what he deserves, don't be flying across country for a concert, or pay 1000 dollars for a show. I’ve never really had a artist within my life that I would consider myself a devotee of (personally), however frank ocean fans are hardcore. Maybe it’s the aesthetic, maybe the music, maybe the man…but the amount devotion and emotion towards this man has leaned towards extreme.
It's hardcore based on anticipation & hype.. if he release every two years or sum we'd be happy and probably feel no need to talk about him as much.. the truth is, we project our need for new music the same way a kid who's dad abandoned them talks about how cool their dad is in school to make up for his absence
Including the injuries that you mentioned, David Grohl, the drummer for Nirvana in the lead singer of Foo Fighters, broke his leg after he fell off of the stage and then 10 minutes later, he got back on stage and continued performing with the Foo Fighters while a paramedic held his leg in a splint. That’s dedication to your fans and your performance.
I admire his dedication to his fans but I wouldn’t expect all that of an artist. If you literally broke your leg during your performance I think I can forgive you for calling it a night.

how quick of a change from fandom to being disliked. This man is pleading the world to leave him alone by all his actions. His management team probably saw this coming but couldn't do anything because at the end of the day it's their jobs to promote and put their artist in situations to succeed.
Ultimately Frank is the one who decides to sign and the one who and signs the contracts.. if he wants to be left alone then he can make that happen. He's been doing it for years.
In a week he's gonna pop back up, surprise everyone, play new music & ppl are gonna be like "Frank did it again, he played the music industry" "Hes a genius"
Sensitivity can only go so far man, then what about professionalism? He could've canceled, and had the ideal comeback like he wanted (before tragedy) but life is unexpected. We understand 'hurt', it's a rib of the very music we relate and hurt about, but when the artists we've been waiting to listen FOR YEARS live finally comes... idk, the public hurts, he's hurting, wallets hurt, it's all 👎
I fuckin hate artists man. All of us get up every day and do our job. Whatever it is, we get there because were needed. Artists have the easiest job in the goddamn world and their ego and entitlement tells them they can do this shit to people who paid their hard earned money to see them. I get it, shit happens, hes depressed. But you have THOUSANDS of people in the audience who are having a harder life, paid for a service, and needed to hear the man sing.
THANK YOU. I get he's going through something with the loss of his brother, but the man is so blatantly ungrateful for what he has it's baffling. To me, Frank just seems like another washed up egotistical man-child.
as an artist I can say that it’s definitely false to believe someone has the “easier” job. as long as you have places to be and you like what you do for a living.. we’re all the same. of course the fame.. being out there and responsible for so many peoples payment decisions makes it more difficult but still. Whatever he does, he is still human. In the end it’s very ignorant
Artists dont have the easiest job lol. But yeah they do need to be more professional. The masses also need to have more self respect. Yall let artists do this. Gen z just has no standards. They dont care when artists are lazy and enable them.
artists DO have the easiest job. anyone in the sphere of artistic people would tell you, the bar for having a good work ethic is just so unbelievably low. if you can meet a deadline or follow up on one promise you’re ahead of 99% of artists.

Never been to concert or music festival I’m the type of guy that’s been stuck at school and usually working all the time. I found Frank’s music usually when I was going through a rough time and it felt therapeutic to me. Any stress or mental strain I had I would play either Channel Orange or Blonde. In 2020 I knew I couldn’t go to Coachella because of school but it was canceled anyways because of Covid. Finally after I graduated and had the opportunity to see him live and make him part of my first experience at a music festival but I’m left with nothing but disappointment. My flight is in a few hours to California and I’m forcing myself to go because everything is already paid for. I’m going to try to make the most of the trip but with him canceling all I want now is to just stay in bed. This is a slap in the face and biggest L I have ever taken. I wish I can find solace in his music right now but I really need to distance myself as fan.
I think you should still go. The current headliners and artists slated for week 2 are all great performers and put on amazing shows week 1. I had an amazing time up until the final hour. I know how you feel, but don't discount all the other great performers that weekend!
Can confirm all of this and you're right on the $ about how the show and the aftermath felt... I was there W1, camped out for hours to get a good spot and by the time he came on we had people passing out all around us - had to call for medics 3 times and I've never had to do that in 7 years of Coachella. THAT's how much his fans love him. And then for him to put on THAT show, let 100,000 people walk out of the festival on such a bummer note, and then release some BS statement about his ankle being fractured (we saw him walking and dancing around stage - that man did NOT have a fractured leg), and then drop out of W2, is just beyond rude to his fans and all of the people who worked so hard on his show. Frank said during his set that he used to come to Coachella - and if that's true, then he knows just how fkin HARD all of the performers go. From Calvin Harris to Beyonce to Gun N'Roses (who's lead singer performed with a BROKEN LEG) and all the way down to the smallest names on the lineup, these artists know that Coachella is one of the biggest stages in the world and a lot of artists' dream to play there - and they treat it like that. They throw down hard, put on a massive show and leave it all on the stage... And then it felt like Frank took $4 mil to the bank and spit on all of that. I love Frank's music... but he definitely lost a fan that day.
That wasn’t a diss lmaoo he’s just describing how different the music is. I love frank and blink 182, but they are two different genres and two whole different vibes.
exactly i said the same thing he’s never had a concert where he’s been dancing he always sits and sings and we all would’ve been happy for it if he did it at coachella I saw future in concert with a broken foot last month he came out in a scooter and still put on a show
Ocean is throwing away one of the most loyal fanbases of all time for NO REASON. Like, these people have gotten no music basically for 7 years, and they STILL throw hundreds of dollars to come see you. This downfall gotta be studied.
And let’s not forget that Summer Walker performed at wireless pregnant and just sat in a chair and sang and the whole crowd sang her songs louder than her…If Frank’s music is so legendary then he should be able to do that
Dave Grohl fell and broke his leg at a show in Gothenburg, Sweden. He went to the hospital, came back an hour later with his leg in a cast and finished the set.
Frank has a lot mental and psychological issues he has to take of before he can actually put himself out for any type of live performance in the future. As for Blink, I hope they can salvage this situation even though the overlap between Frank and Blink fans is probably very low and it sucks for people who invested so much just to see Frank Ocean that I’d be pretty pissed too
people should ask for a refund, so that they can buy the 40k cockrings he's selling so that he can grieve easily, or maybe but the merch drops he drops each week so that he can grieve 🙏
With all due respect, Frank’s brother passed 3 years ago. While that’s not a long time, he’s had plenty of time to sit with his emotions. His actions can’t continue to fall back on his brother’s passing.
We gotta stop this. I understand but that doesn't excuse shitty behavior. People in the real world deal with this on the daily. We gotta stop letting artist like frank, ye and others from doing off shit

Then I had a total hip replacement surgery a few years ago and because of complications, my hip's artificial hardware is LOOSENING FROM ITS SOCKET AS WE SPEAK. Frank doesnt even dance, the ankle thing is a ridiculous excuse bc Frank doesn't want to accept any accountability. Pathetic.
I wish you could be able to regain health. But people gave him the power to act like a god, guess what frank does ? He will be God. The solution is to never give an artist more than what he deserves, don't be flying across country for a concert, or pay 1000 dollars for a show. Artists deserve to live generously, but don't give him the idea that 80.000 fans are coming and that they love him to death....

Artists dont have the easiest job lol. But yeah they do need to be more professional. The masses also need to have more self respect. Yall let artists do this. Gen z just has no standards. They dont care when artists are lazy and enable them.
