- I'm so glad I had that rough Sunday because it led to something unexpected. I didn’t expect such incredible support from you all. To everyone who liked, left a comment, shared, or even made videos about this, I truly appreciate it.
I also noticed some patterns in the negative comments, and I took the time to analyze them and try to have conversations with those people. I hope some of them understood the message.
Thanks again, love you all and I hope you have a great day!
Non Japanese people are not happy with AC Shadows either. Full support to you, Shohei. Your voice is also the voice of many other people.

So its just caused by poor communication from ubisoft to media,,
You're people blowing up an issue that shouldn't be such a big deal to issued,,
@@rakhmatsabarudin4587 Ubisoft messed up this time plain and simple, I dont know why you are scrambling to defend a corporation and their product like this. Quite bizarre stance to make really. The fans have waited decades to get an AC game set in japan and they are holding them (quite rightly) to a high degree of scrutiny, which as a consumer is their right. If you're going to release an AC game set in japan after Ghosts of Tsushima you better bring your A game and bring some new to the table.
The discourse around AC Shadows isnt just one issue, its not just about Yaskue but the problems are myriad and multifaceted.
It may have been a blessing in disguise because big content creators covered your video, bringing you exposure.
Dude I saw endymion mention this situation and that’s exactly why I came to support the channel. A lot of small creators are subject to bullying because they can’t make as many waves when speaking on it so it goes unnoticed. It isn’t right.

The amount of white westerns telling Japanese people they are wrong for having an opinion about a game revolving around their culture is just crazy
I dont know about that especially. But this sentence is interesting.
Go see about the comfort women in South Korea during Japanese occupation. See how Japan reacted when a few statues were made in SK and Germany.
I would not trust anything just because some Japanese people (doesnt matter Japanese or any other nationality...still people) say so.
As I always say Japan has this aura that makes people simp. I m pretty sure a lot of them are not against the game. I m pretty a lot of those who are against is due to group effect too
Yea conflating the government response with the entirety of Japan. Your opinion is dog water.
Also way to change the subject to something unrelated. What is this, a poorly made strawman? And what of it? Because some Japanese soldiers did bad things suddenly we shouldn’t take the words of Japanese people seriously?
@@Crablover132 hmm have I said that I put the entirety of the japanese aligned with what their governemnt thinks? Some of them are some of them are not... can you please please quote the sentence where I say this? When I say "how Japan reacted" it is as it is documented I am not saying every japanese...
And I know people are quick to defend anything related to Japan with such a passion it is ridiculous... and I believe it s only when something is related to Japan. And south Korea to an extent
@@Crablover132 it is not changing the subject. It is what we call an example.
To show that people opinion is to be taken with a grain of salt.
I am not talking about what "some" soldiers did. I am talking about how japanese (government but not only) talk about it.
And to remind that culture is still different than history (people mostly complain about history in this game)
Besides I never said not to take japanese people words seriously. I am just saying just because "some" think a way doesnt mean I should automatically feel like it s right... japanese people are people. I dont make a difference. People reaction when it s japanese is just ridiculous
they are not white Westerners, they are Woke Ubisoft fanboys who annoy everyone.
The Last Samurai was a fictionalized depiction loosely inspired by historical events, including the experiences of the few foreigners who were granted the title of samurai. William Adams, an English navigator and military advisor to Tokugawa Ieyasu, was the only documented foreign samurai after years of service to Ieyasu.
William Adams, known as Anjin Miura, was another foreigner to be granted samurai status. He served as a key advisor to Tokugawa Ieyasu, helping establish Japan’s naval strategy and diplomatic relations. His story was later fictionalized in Shōgun, where the character of Anjin was based on his experiences. His samurai status is well-documented, supported by historical records and eyewitness accounts.
However, when it comes to Yasuke, the African warrior who served Oda Nobunaga, there is no concrete historical evidence that he was ever granted the title of samurai. While Yasuke’s presence in Japan is recorded, there is no documentation proving he was officially elevated to samurai status, unlike Adams.
Historical accuracy matters. The tendency to rewrite or embellish history to fit modern narratives reflects a superficial approach to representation. While there is nothing wrong with celebrating historical figures of African descent, doing so through misrepresentation rather than truth undermines genuine recognition. This kind of revisionism does not uplift African history-it instead suggests that historical accuracy can be disregarded in favor of symbolic gestures. True respect comes from acknowledging authentic achievements rather than fabricating status for the sake of inclusivity.
How much better whould it have been if they used William Adams as the "outside" eyes to learn about japan?
they could have interwined his story with the templars as he, in the HBO series Shogun, was a protestant? I believe? Correct me if I am wrong.
He could have been a templar that was secretly trying to find a piece of eden in Japan because some leaders where very powerful and the head of the Templars thought there might be a piece of eden involved.
Something along those lines.
There are so many gaps in history or motivations that can be explained, with a little creativity, to have more to them than the history books tell :D
@@Controvi That would be a better rounded story, but i would suggest that they put a more historic character of significance of Japanese culture.
Hideyoshi would be my choice, because of his rise from a farmer, all the way to a leader that also reunified the entire country or master swordsmen Musashi.
The movie didn't depict the white people as above the Japanese people. There's even a scene where the foreigner expressed his admiration toward the native cultures. Tom Cruise doesn't get to wear the armor and the sword until after the end of the movie. At that time, he already earned it because he helped saved the lord's family. The filmmakers clearly had respect for the Japanese culture.
Ubisoft on the other hand, mixing Chinese architecture and letters with Japanese. Depicting the Japanese NPCs bow down to the foreigner who massacred the natives with extreme brutality. And gave the samurai title to a foreigner who never earned it or any significance in real history.
Filipino here this is outrageous of what ubisoft has done let’s all unite to help support you and other japanese creators

Its not only the game industry. Its the anime and manga translators for over 15 years. That is the reason there are still pirate sites even tho the availability is way higher but the translations are garbage. And when your gouvernment finally reactet to it 2 years ago, they went after the only ones who created accurate translations instead of asking why it happens. Those people are just saying that to discredit your opinion. They know real Japanese are upset, but admitting that would expose them as bad people. Saying you're a racist white person makes it okay to attack you, because it would make you a villain.
You're right, the community needs to be able to openly discuss these things, otherwise, we get nowhere. The irony is lost on these people who are calling an entire culture racist when they are supporting the misrepresentation of that culture in a video game. The developers never adequately consulted Japanese historians or cultural experts during the game's development and yet it is the Japanese who are racist for calling out the cultural appropriation of their own heritage? Do these people even know what the word racist means anymore?
For those people here is the definition of cultural racism - devaluing or misrepresenting a culture in ways that reinforce harmful stereotypes or erase its history.
Of course they don't know. Otherwise they wouldn't say something that "you cannot be racist against" and they say any of them.

From what I've seen Japanese people are quite open when it comes to interpreting their history and culture in various ways when it comes to fiction. Like I remember watching an isekai anime where a guy goes to an alternate timeline where Oda Nobunaga and all his retainers and other important figures were all cute anime waifus.
The issue with shadows was that Ubisoft paraded around saying the game was historically accurate while blatantly disrespecting Japan, it's people and it's culture.
For anyone curious, here's the sauce - The Ambition of Oda Nobuna
The last Samurai was great! A sad tale of Japan committing cultural suicide in favor of modernization.
Agreed, it's one of my favorite movies
I love that movie. There’s a quiet intensity in the performance of both main actors that captures the heart.
Sad tale indeed.
Though I started with my interest in Japan from anime, it moved to tv shows, to eventually visiting Japan in 2019.
The moment I booked my flight, I jumped on the web, searching every article, every youtube video (how I found you), to see what the Japanese culture is like, really like. I didn't want to travel to Japan, knowing full well the culture is different and not caring about it.
I did HOURS of research to see the do's and don'ts, what to do in certain situations. All for the sake of not offending anyone there just going through their day. Not being awkward to people behind counters of shops. Being calm and patient when trying to talk to someone that doesn't understand english.
I had the best vacation of my entire 30 years on this planet.
I went again in 2023 and will be going again in 2025.
I respect the culture more and more. Drove through the mountains, visited shrines in the middle of nowhere. Got heartfelt thanks form japanese people that thanked me and my mate for having interest in their country, not just the tourist places.
And then comes Ubisoft.......
The moment I saw that game, the things about the history being incorrect, missplaced, etc, etc.
Than seeing the merch blunders....
I felt offended for the Japanese. I feel I did more research on japan than Ubisoft ever did.
I even felt ashamed for being from the same continent as them.
Shohei, keep up the good work.
Love you videos.
But most importantly, don't keep doing the video's when you feel it is taking a toll on your mental health.
Even though it is a serious issue, what is happening with and in the game, your health comes first.
Cheers!!!!
if people are bringing up the last samurai they clearly never watched it, its based on a real man and the whole point is the transition from ancient warfare with swords to modern warfare with guns, which he helps to bring in and regrets, as he watches the change and the death of "the last samurai" its not a difficult plot to follow I wonder about some peoples minds.
You're probably right in that they've never watched it and just saw the name and cover.

To be honest I had no interest in the game or the controversy, from my basic understanding of what I saw online, I thought Japan was disgusted by a black main character... Listen, I got some bad info okay, I’m sorry!!! And I don’t even play assassins creed !!! I’m black and I love Japan, so I was sad for a minute. It is my biggest dream to visit, but a lot of misinformation is spread by non-Japanese people. I will not be so easily fooled next time. I’m glad I got the real story from your channel LOL 😅
I’m so glad I kept talking about it! Thank you for your comment!
If Ubisoft had placed Yasuke as an important NPC, rather than a playable character, people would not nearly be as harsh in their criticisms. It's the weird special treatment and Mary Sue qualities Ubisoft treats him as they bend over backwards to justify playing the one black man in the entire country of Japan, who realistically only lived there for a year before being sent back to his previous owners, all the while claiming this is based on historical "research". Said research has been debunked as fanfiction written by a white guy who edited Wikipedia to hype his own book. And yet all the natives bow to "brave, smart, strong" Yasuke, who claims he has no master even though a normal samurai serves their lord (to the death), who wears armor that is fancier and plastered with Nobunaga's crest despite him not being blood related to the clan, who can kill civilians and damage property willy nilly, who can walk around like a normal dude despite no one ever seeing a black man before, etc. All the while the rest of the game is plagued with historical and cultural inaccuracies, plagiarized content (they stole a flag from a historical reenactment club, a sword from One Piece, and made a model of a Buddha statue that no one is allowed to photograph/recreate), and much more. Ubisoft just slapped Japanese/Asian aesthetic to the game without knowing or caring about the significance. It's this combo of behavior that is the reason why people are dissatisfied, this was a setting that is supposed to be an automatic success and yet Ubisoft is so incompetent now that they are failing.
@@aerinsoleris The moment I heard and later saw about Yasuke, I was like "WHY NOT A SIDE CHARACTER!!!"
It stands in history books that he was a close in position to Nobunaga. So why not make him some sort of important story figure that would communicate with the assassins.
Just like Alexander Bell in Syndicate was helping the Assassins with the telegram.
That would have made much more sense.
Especially if you take into account what the original writer of the first games was planning.
With the excalibur sword being a piece of eden, Oda having it, which made him so powerful.
It felt so authentic hearing the original idea for shadows.

I've been following you for a while, Shohei. You are a rare voice of reason that is much needed in these times. As a black man myself, I couldn't agree more with your message and you have my full support. I shared your videos multiple times on gaming forums in my country in topics regarding AC: Shadows. It's insane the kind of responses I see from people. It's also funny how the "Justice" group, coincidentally becomes the "It's just a game" group, when confronted with actual evidence about how the Japanese people feel about this game.

You've got a great point about the people who say it's just a game. By taking that stance, they are indirectly defending Ubisoft and their poor decisions.
Crazy thing, Ubisoft could have had a major success just making a solid Japanese AC. So many wanted a good Japanese themed AC. They took a big crap all over it.
7:36 One thing I’ve noticed with people defending Ubisoft is their inability to empathize. They think the world revolves around them. People are talking about their culture being disrespected. Your struggle is real bro, as a asian (Indian) I'm proud of you for saying such truth. Such a beautiful perspective.
I'm Irish and i completely agree with all your criticism of Ubisoft along with so many other westerners.
Yeah, I sympathize with the Japanese. Especially when it comes to how the West is treating their media and entertainment. Been very vocal about it, especially when you have Westerners doing 'fix it' designs of characters that come from places like Japan or even China. It's appalling, and I never like it when there is zero respect for the original source. They really are living in a different dimension.
Nice ! Good news !
Personally, I have a problem with "The Last Samurai", because I'm French and I know the character is supposed to be too ! (I'm kidding, i don't have a problem with that ^^)
Fun fact, Jules Brunet (the real name of Tom Cruise's character) landed in Yokohama on January 13, 1867 (and January 13 is the day of my birth XD).
About Sannō-jinja, I discussed it with a friend and we really think that Ubisoft was completely unaware of the existence of this Tori. We just think that since it's seen as "the" typically Japanese thing, that it's war, so there's destruction and that it was cool to make a diorama with it. The only point where we diverge is that on the one hand, given that it's recent history, we can, in a way, say to ourselves "Ubisoft didn't know and it's not in the period during which they did some research so they missed it" but on the other hand we're talking about companies that promote inclusiveness, being as safe as possible, not offending this or that group of people. So, we also wonder why this diorama did not pass into the hands of experts in Japanese History ? (the worst scenario would be that it was told to them and that they didn't give a damn because their game was not had nothing to do with bombs).
One day I heard a woman say “everything is political but not everything is politicized”.

Japan should just ban the ac shadow at this point... just like they did to Johny Somali
This guys is funny but serious at the same time! Love it!
I like how you group “Africans” as one people lol.
Big support from Egypt!
I saw Asmon react to your video I am glad your video is back up! I hope you don't get any more trouble trying to post your opinions! I just subbed as well.
Dear Shohei,
First of all I want to thank you for giving to non-Japanese like me the opportunity to hear a Japanese point of view on AC Shadows.
But I also would like to give you my perspective as an Afro-European and tell you why I think you’re wrong in this crusade against AC Shadows:
1- HISTORICAL FICTION/ACCURACY: I understand your concerns about historical accuracy in Assassin Creed Shadows but the Assassin Creed franchise is not supposed to be realistic fiction, it’s historical fiction.
“the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures”
(Wikipedia)
How in the world a video game series in which you bare-knuckle fight against the Pope Rodrigo Borgia or see Napoleon Bonaparte putting his hands on some alien technological device be historically accurate?
I may be naïve but I think what developers meant when they were talking about historical accuracy in Shadows was more a way of saying that they incorporated historical events into it (just like the storming of The Bastille in Assassin Creed Unity for example).
Don’t get me wrong I am not giving Ubisoft a pass for failing to properly represent Japan’s customs and traditions. They need to be held accountable for their sometimes gross errors which demonstrates a work ethic that is, to say the least, lacking. But not to the point of cancelling or boycotting the game, which is no less than cancel culture at its worst.
2- YASUKE-KILLING JAPANESE-RESIDENT EVIL 5: The analogy you made between AC Shadows and a theoretical groundbreaking game set in an ancient African kingdom led by a black and a white characters duo isn’t pertinent in my opinion.
The inclusion of a white character in such a game wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing if it's narratively coherent and the gameplay and story leave enough space for a native character to express him/herself. Which is the case of AC Shadows.
Yasuke isn’t AC shadows exclusive protagonist and Naoe isn’t his sidekick. They’re equally the protagonists of this game with complementary gameplay.
In your last video you complained that Yasuke seemed much stronger than Naoe. He is indeed. Yasuke’s gameplay is built on brute force to enhance his combat abilities. He is stronger and more resilient than Naoe which allows him to fight multiple enemies simultaneously. The downside is that his parkour and stealth abilities are extremely limited (if not non-existent) on the contrary to Naoe whose gameplay favors parkour and stealth.
Since you brought the case of resident Evil 5 (a much pertinent comparison) in your last video I would like to linger on it for a moment.
Resident Evil 5 generated controversy not so much because it had a white protagonist in a fictional West-African country but because of the racial insensitivity of its first trailer.
The trailer in question featured a white protagonist dressed as a cop or a military shooting a horde of bloodthirsty black people (granted they were zombies). This conveyed an imagery heavily charged with history in the west and in Africa as well.
This controversy gradually died down not only because people understood that the Japanese developers of RE5 were not aware of the shock this trailer would cause because of cultural differences, but the developers also added a playable black character to tone down any impression of racism and racial insensitivity. But ultimately the reason why this controversy didn’t harm the game commercially is that people understood that the protagonists of RE5 were not killing black people but zombies who happened to be black. How could it be otherwise since the story takes place in Sub-Saharan Africa?
Which brings me to this pseudo controversy about Yasuke killing Asians…
Who are the protagonists of a game called Assassin Creed and that takes place in Japan supposed to assassinate if not people of Japanese descent?
Don’t get me wrong, the goal in AC Shadows’s context of war is not to kill Japanese people but some warriors and warlords who oppose the team or faction you’re a part of.
In such a context what’s so surprising about a warrior killing other warriors?
Are people upset about Naoe killing other warriors?
Were people upset by Williams Adams killing Japanese warriors in Nioh?
Were people upset by Ezio killing people of Turkish descent in Assassin Creed Revelations (a game set in the Ottoman Empire and which also featured a foreigner as a main character)?
Should Yasuke let himself be killed by the antagonists of AC Shadows in order to appease anti-black racism?
Because if the criticisms of the presence of Yasuke in this game aren’t driven by anti-black racism, what can explain such a reluctance to see a black character having a powerful and leading role in a franchise as well known and famous as Assassin Creed?
3-KILLING CIVILIANS: Every Assassin Creed game allowed the player to kill unarmed civilians. Just like Grand Theft auto, Red Dead redemption, Watchdogs or Cyberpunk 2077.
And apparently this has been disabled for Japan’s version of AC Shadows
4- WHAT’S RACIST ABOUT THE GAME? Are Japanese people portrayed in an unfavorable manner? Are they portrayed as stupid, vile, weak? Because if not I don’t understand how AC Shadows is racist.
5-PETTY ARGUMENTS: Some of your arguments in your previous videos are too petty. I mean mocking the fact that Yasuke puts his hand in front of his face when he is going through a snowstorm or mocking npc's foreheads... people don't have time for those petty arguments when there is real cause of indignation.
Over worded, over intellectualised mega L take.
I agree with your points
I just got here because the UA-cam Algorhytmus suggested your Video.

Hello Kondō-san,
First, I want to thank you for your courage and determination. Your voice as a Japanese creator is so important. The fact that you can represent many other Japanese individuals upset about Assassin’s Creed: Shadow is powerful.
I am a huge fan of the Sengoku, Edo, and Bakumatsu periods. Many people, who we can have reasonable discussions with about this game, often use The Last Samurai as an example. However, they fail to understand the critical differences between that movie and the issues with Assassin’s Creed: Shadow.
I humbly suggest you consider creating a video explaining these differences-why The Last Samurai was praised in Japan and why Assassin’s Creed: Shadow is receiving criticism.
Here are some ideas to support that argument. Feel free to use them as you see fit.
1. Historical Accuracy and Character Background
1a. Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise’s character):
Algren is loosely based on a real historical figure, Jules Brunet, a French military officer who fought against the Emperor during the Boshin War (1868-1869). His military background lends credibility to the story, making it plausible that he could adapt to Japanese culture and samurai combat styles.
1b. Yasuke (Ubisoft’s character):
Yasuke was a real historical figure, a former African servant who arrived in Japan between 1579-1582. However, Yasuke had no military background prior to his arrival, and there is no record of him participating in major battles.
2. Plausibility of Combat Skills
2a. Nathan Algren:
Algren’s military experience makes it believable that he could adapt to Japanese culture and develop combat skills to fight alongside the samurai. However, it’s important to note that the samurai of the late Bakumatsu period were no longer the fearsome warriors of the Sengoku period. By then, many had become bureaucrats or law enforcers, with limited combat experience. (The last significant samurai battle was the Siege of Osaka (1614-1615).)
2b. Yasuke:
It is unrealistic to suggest that a foreigner with no military background could, develop the skills to fight on par with Sengoku-era samurai. These samurai of the Sengoku period were shaped by over 200 years of civil war and the principles of natural selection, where only the strongest clans survived. They trained rigorously, both mentally and physically, from a very young age. For most samurai, the ultimate goal was to die honorably on the battlefield.
3. Story Focus and Cultural Sensitivity
3a. The Last Samurai:
As you mentioned in your video, The Last Samurai is not about the foreigner (Nathan Algren). The story primarily centers on Saigō Takamori and the decline of the samurai class during the Meiji Restoration. Algren serves as an entry point for the audience, not the main focus.
3b. Assassin’s Creed: Shadow:
Ubisoft initially presented the game as a story about the "legendary samurai" Yasuke. They framed criticism of this portrayal as coming from people who were either "too racist" or "too ignorant" to appreciate Yasuke’s story. This dismissive attitude toward valid concerns has only exacerbated the issue.
I hope these points help in highlighting the differences and addressing the cultural sensitivity concerns surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Shadow. Thank you again for your work.
Love your videos man! Keep them coming!
Yes! Thank you!
あたらしいビデオ。やった!Very well spoken Shohei. I completely agree with you once more. And sorry if I butchered the beginning of my sentence. 😂
i support you, keep it up man!
Can't believe there are people who defend this garbage of a game 🤮
The perspective I got from many Japanese people (both online and in person) is that they would be totally fine with the game if it had been marketed as fictional and not as historically accurate, Japan inspired game. Which makes sense to me there is so, so much wrong with the game if you want to claim it`s accurate. Even though Yasuke was a real person, but he wasn`t a big deal, he was mentioned in like two footnotes in all of the historic texts of his time.
There are many more problems with the game than Yasuke. The devs took art assets from the Sekigahara Teppo Tai historical reenacters without their consent, then Ubisoft took a buildings from a temple that weren't supposed to be used for monetary purposes and just put them in the game, and on top of that they used AI art (all of this is evident from their official art book).
@@AnikiMMA I see, that is problematic too
8:36 I am impressed how cleanly the head is removed from the shoulders. A blund weapon. No blood. Lack of impact on the rest of the body. It is super cartoony. That woman looks like a manikin. Guess they had to keep the level of detail down so the game wont be rated R.
What game is this anyway? I feel like I've seen it before, and may already know it. Since the title says Ubisoft, I dread if it's a game from them given their DEI business practice.
10:38 This would depend on the purpose of the game. Would be nice if games were made to be games rather than inserting nonsensical messages.
I get stories should have a point to them, generally a lesson to be learned. The message itself has be from a healthy acceptable/knowledgable place.
Loved Ghost of Tsushima, although it was a tad bit too long due to all the side missions, and some aspects were very much forced because story. I would have loved to play the game pure bold, one man samuari vs stealthy assassin, and vice versa on a second playthrough.
Congratulations mate! daishouri! 🤜💥🤛
Yay! Arigatou🙏
As much I like Japanese Culture, I’m no Expert on the Entire History of it. As many of the Media that Portrays Japanese Culture regardless of Level of Accuracies I still like those Media. The Video Games that I Enjoy Ninja / Samurai Games are:
- Ninja Gaiden
- Nioh & Rise of the Rōnin
- Shinobi
- Onimusha
- Way of the Samurai
- Shinobido
- Sekiro: Shadows Dies Twice
- Ghost of Tsushima & Yōtei
- Tenchu
Now with the Case with Assassin’s Creed Shadows? It should be notice that I’m a Longtime Fan of the Series since the First Game on PS3. I’m pretty aware that these Games are meant to be Sci-Fi and Never meant to be Historical Accurate. But in Recent Years when Ubisoft has Fallen Off the Cliff with Mediocrity I can Understand the Backlash with Shadows. As Many Knows already Feudal Japan was One of the MOST Requested Settings for the Series as Well being the TOP THREE Most Popular Culture in the World due to Anime.
Even though I avoid this kind of Community Discourse I can Understand Both Sides. On the First Side people who are a Fan to AC Games really thought this Direction of Feudal Japan is Interesting and Ubisoft probably wants to Stand Out considering as the Games I Listed already takes place in Feudal Japan. On the Other Side I pretty much Agreed the way Ubisoft Market the Game is Pretty Bad & Lackluster.
In Conclusion my Thoughts for this Game is Neutral and I do Agreed that Other Games that Already Takes Place on this Setting is Better than Shadows in Terms of Gameplay & Visuals. However perhaps next time I will Pick this Game up whenever it’s on Sale and have to Watch More Gameplay Videos because I am a Casual Fan who doesn’t Lash Out against Valid Criticism.
Granted I do have My Disagreements with people Trashing Rise of the Rōnin and that’s due to some of the Backlash that game is Unwarranted such as Graphics that looks like PS3 and therefore Modern Games Won’t Buy or Play it. It really begs the Question nowadays of “Why DO People Play Video Games For?”. If we keep being Negative and keep Accepting Mediocrity of Greedy Corporates who Don’t Care on the Quality of the Game we might Experience “The Second Video Game Crash”, the Very First One happened back in 1983 during the Atari 2600 Era.
Thank you so much for your rational approach and calm demeanor. We need these discussions, now more than ever!
Ubisoft thinks that Assassins Creed fans will just be like „Woah! Japan! Samurai! Katana! Ninja! „ and they‘ll buy the game. Which insults not only Japanese people, but also AC players
If yasuke wasn’t in the game I bet nobody would be having this conversation
Yup
Shohei, I think YT's algorithm was flagging the video for takedown because of the word "hate" in the title. I don't support Ubisoft, but I think that's probably the reason for the bot attack. Keep being you and don't let anyone bring you down. It's a travesty about all the attacks on Japan starting with shadows. I want to make a game set in the attackers' home that claims historical accuracy for regions outside their own and completely mess it up and say "it's just a game" to those who feel offended. Feel proud of your culture's history and keep fighting to preserve it. My family of Koreans stand with you
I changed the title but it didn’t work
@@shoheikondo That's insane. That just means that someone, could be Ubisoft or a paid/unpaid supporter, is trying to bully you because of the size of your channel. Thankfully you were able to get someone alive at YT to help stay up. Keep posting your videos and I'll keep watching. Seeing things from your perspective is interesting for me since we're similar, but different. I prefer to watch an actual Japanese person who lived in Japan give an insider's view about the country than all the travelers
I prefer my art to be based in truth... anything other than honesty is propaganda. Propaganda is garbage. I do not spend money on garbage.

Thank you Shohei for your wonderful videos as always.
Work hard, take responsibility for what you say, and respect each other.
These are very common ways of thinking in Japan, but seeing how UBI is handled I'm surprised and think, "Is it different on the other side of the ocean!?"...
And I've realized once again that Japanese people really are a people who value "respect."

The Afro Samurai reference was so good. Great video Shohei
Japan is known for keeping records of everything. Some papers from Japan were used to prove Halley's comet in the 1700s so when I heard them "Ubi" say there is not much info on him I was like.... well, I'll just say yeah right for YT! I forgot to add the part of Halley's comet coming back. I can’t think of an earlier date off the top of my head, just look at the records they kept, and you will see.
Yes Oda Nobunaga's family keeps all the records of him in a museum. There is no dispute or mystery, he was never a samurai. But the point is that they could have just said that it was fiction instead of trying to rewrite history for their own profits.
@@ksl-988 Yeah, good catch. I should have added that and also that I agree with the video. I'll not change it and let it stand so you can get the credit for calling that out. Ubisuck did the same thing to my heritage, just not as bad. I'm 75% Scandinavian and the rest is German.
