I have a question. My friend recently returned from umra and she gave me a thread that she said she rubbed on the Kaaba. She said it's to feel closeness to the Kaaba by holding the thread. I felt uneasy but took it with the dates, zamzam water, and prayer rug that she gifted me. However my question is what about the thread?
The thread will neither benefit nor harm you, but if a person thinks that by keeping or touching the thread he or she will get some benefit, then that is shirk.
