I’m Mexican-American and I made tortillas for the first time a couple days ago…did not went well. Apparently baking powder is the answer unless I really screwed something up 😂
Claire! I am living for this Texas series! I am always surprised when people don't know what breakfast tacos are, they are a big thing in South Texas. Thanks for showing them off!
I interviewed Fermin as a young blogger a few years ago and he was so kind with answering all his questions- also if you haven't been to Suerte in Austin, his SUADERO tacos is truly the best taco I've had in my life.
Please more savory dishes, Claire! 🧑🍳 Loved your Thanksgiving feast, your homemade clam chowder, your lobster pasta and now this ☺️ Want more! ❤ I'm greedy! Lol
this is my comfort food! growing up, my mom would make tortillas every other day and chorizo con papas or ham & eggs was a common meal with a side of refried beans
This is a DELIGHTFUL episode. Chef Nunez's passion and expertise is obvious and I enjoyed following the way Claire asked questions about the process 👌🏻
Chorizo and potatoes, chorizo and bean, and potato and egg are my favorite breakfast tacos, but gotta be salsa verde. Barbacoa is the Sunday special around here, and carne guisada is great too. Gotta love migas/chilaquiles, because I heard you like tortillas in your tortillas 😂
Greetings from Austin! I agree with the recommendations given for breakfast tacos but I do want to add: Dan's Hamburgers (sounds weird but trust me! Bacon, eggs, potato and cheese on flour is amazing). Also, homemade breakfast tacos are the best when you have butter tortillas from H-E-B.
Claire doing Austin justice! Whenever I go back there, it's a non-stop eating frenzy of must-go to this place and that. I think Claire would understand this gastronomic obsession I have and may even indulge in it herself whenever she returns.
I grew up in Arizona but was raised eating New Mexican styled food. Hatch green chile is my personal favorite but I know its popular to have chipotle chile or a combo (Christmas style).
That was really lovely, thank you Claire!! Been wanting to go to Austin for a while now. I just bookmarked all the places (plus his) he mentioned 😎 YUM. Can't wait
Hope you enjoy my lovely city 💜 bring an empty stomach. I also recommend prioritizing Round Rock Donuts/Lonestar bakery, the classic glaze. Also Kerbey Queso at Kerbey Lane Cafe. And Mexican vanilla ice cream (at least a taster spoon) from Amy's Ice Cream. Can't go wrong!
Claire, as a fellow Mexican, Fermin is the bomb! You need to go to Mexico with him and show you around different types of pan dulce and bakes....and savory!
This popped up at 7:30am… I live in HTX… sending the hubs to pick up breakfast tacos and coffee on this rainy Friday morning. Perfection 🤌🏼 Thank you Claire ♥️
I've only ever had breakfast burritos and then I was exposed to a breakfast quesadilla (shout out to Marriott in Brentwood California at a wedding a few years ago). Not a hidden gem spot lol, but truly a personal leading form of enjoying breakfast (pico, sour cream to choose your adventure on the side) I don't see served at restaurants. It's always breakfast sandwiches or burritos in California. The child and adult in me was beyond thrilled. I'll give tacos a shot next. Thanks!
Thank you, Claire! The recent videos are great for me who have never been in any parts of USA yet. I was wondering if you could introduce your way of making lamington cake one day. I'm from Korea and living in Melbourne studying patisserie and working in a bakery. I've watched you making the chocolate cake in NYT Cooking channel and the other day I made your coconut cupcakes which was AMAZING. Then, for some reason, I thought myself whatever your version of lamington cake is, it would be exceptionally great. It'd be really appreciated if you could show your baking the cake and share your recipe when you feel like it!! Have a nice day!
I’ve spent tons of time in Austin for work and I’ve always been a fan of the food there. Now, I’m seriously considering a follow Claire through Austin trip just to reacquaint myself with the food scene there.
Just some clarification, maybe the chef grew up in central/south Mexico. Us that grew up in northeast part of Mexico, south of TX border (Tamaulipas in my case), we've been eating breakfast tacos forever... that migrated into TX of course, as all good things do. Thanks for sharing this video, Claire!
He did, you can hear the central mexican accent not the northern accent. They do that a lot especially the chilangos they erase the entirety of northern Mexican culture all the time.
This guy is confused because my family is from central Mexico and we all eat breakfast tacos. I would be surprised if they don't eat something similar in the south. Huevos a la mexicana with some refried beans and you make a taco out of it. Chorizo con huevo is also very common and they're eaten as tacos.
Hey Claire- great content, as always. I really enjoyed this one.....Can you share a breakdown of the tortilla recipe? Chef Nunez mentions the amount of fat needed but I'm not clear on the other ingredients. Thanks!
That is true, i had never heard of breakfast tacos until i moved to san antonio tx. Or people using lemons instead of limes, or yellow cheese as a topping. And so many other things. Im from northern mexico and even though a lot of the food is very similar theres a lot of white culture infused in what Texans call mexican food. But its really inspired by the food we have in northern mexico. Mexico is huge so the food here is really a small percentage of what mexican cuisine is.
Morning! What toppings are you adding to your breakfast tacos?
Claire, curious what breakfast spots you would recommend in NYC? :)
Always adding avocado and cheese
Bacon egg and cheese
Spicy Salsa and sour cream!
Sriracha-Mayo. I put that BLEEP on everything.
I love how unhesitatingly he rattles off half a dozen competitors. That’s class.
I had the exact same reaction. That's so great.
Indeed! Humble!
I feel like it shows how much he really cares for the cuisine, he's tried it all around town and has strong opinions
It's RESPECT for fellow artsans.. Wonderfull to see thatm
Honestly loved this part the most. Sing praises because everyone has their own strengths.
WOW. Claire is truly giving us Netflix-level food documentaries for free. We are so grateful for your content, Claire, thank you!
Dang it now I’m hungry
Claire learning ‘feelings’ cooking over ‘scientific’ cooking is my favorite thing
Such a good observation lol. Baking is science, cooking is art!
Chef Núñez is a natural on camera. I enjoyed this episode even more than usual because of his energy!
He’s really open and friendly and a kind teacher. Claire should visit him again so we can learn more of his dishes. He’s great!
The chef's humility! Claire is in his house, but he still shows her respect and honors her knowledge.
You can tell he respects Claire bc he’s asking her questions and for her opinion on different techniques. Just love that!
Chef Fermín was so funny. Loved the banter in this video. Also Harris doing taxes. Lol
Harris is the goat🤩🤩
I can't hate on a person maximizing the use of their time. Efficiency rules.
As a Mexican, seeing how technical Claire takes the process to make the flour tortillas and asking very specific questions is very funny to me.
I was shocked at how bad my first tortillas were. It's much more complicated than one would suspect.
Yeah its silly to see bc we are used to it, but if we learned indian cuisine, we would also be asking lots of questions! It's the unknown!
I’m Mexican-American and I made tortillas for the first time a couple days ago…did not went well. Apparently baking powder is the answer unless I really screwed something up 😂
Love how Claire is kneading the dough so effortless , without watching it, just keep his eyes to Fermín.
Right?!! ❤
I love how Chef Fermín was so humble throughout the video!
Claire! I am living for this Texas series! I am always surprised when people don't know what breakfast tacos are, they are a big thing in South Texas. Thanks for showing them off!
This is a fun travel series! Love seeing these local restaurants!!
More to come, Thanks for watching!
Anxious for Claire's perfected flour tortilla recipe in grams.
Suerte is one of my favorite brunch places. So happy to see Chef Fermín on the channel!!
Watching this at 8am having not eaten breakfast
same but at 10am 💀
Me to lol 😂
Claire trying to starve us to death on the West Coast. 😂
I love watching Claire ofc but im ABSOLUTELY LOVING watching her interact with other people in this way its just too good
I believe you have struck gold with these collaborative videos. Please continue this concept with chefs in other cities.
Idk but something about Claire the student is wholesome
I interviewed Fermin as a young blogger a few years ago and he was so kind with answering all his questions- also if you haven't been to Suerte in Austin, his SUADERO tacos is truly the best taco I've had in my life.
Loved seeing experts in two different areas sharing their different approaches for such similar processes.
I love this series down in austin. Its great seeing claire dive deep into this cities food
ATX represent! Loving these Austin vids, and always happy to see breakfast tacos get their due. Best breakfast out there!
i'm really enjoying Claire "on the road"
These look so good, I must also say that some of the best breakfast tacos in Austin (and Texas in general) can be found at gas stations
Please more savory dishes, Claire! 🧑🍳
Loved your Thanksgiving feast, your homemade clam chowder, your lobster pasta and now this ☺️
Want more! ❤ I'm greedy! Lol
i really love the more recent videos a lot !! it’s nice seeing the crew outside of claire’s home kitchen (which i absolutely love ofc) !!
this is my comfort food! growing up, my mom would make tortillas every other day and chorizo con papas or ham & eggs was a common meal with a side of refried beans
omg, we love suerte so much. my bf and I had our first date there 3 years ago. our fave chef and baker in one video- amazing!!
these two recent chef collabs she did were EXCELLENT bro.... amazing human beings
Nice seeing chefs enjoy the food they’re cooking and get excited while cooking it.
really wholesome video- super positive vibes and two very talented chefs
I lived and worked two-five minutes away from este & manor road and this has me really missing Austin! This will up my flour tortilla game, thank you!
This is a DELIGHTFUL episode. Chef Nunez's passion and expertise is obvious and I enjoyed following the way Claire asked questions about the process 👌🏻
Chorizo con papas y huevos. I love it made with longanisa
Claire you're just wonderful! Really loved this one and Chef Fermin
I love his cat's cam sm!
Chorizo papa looks amazing. I love both. I want both.
The cheese on the griddle topped with the freshly made tortilla has me salivating!
More of this kind of collabs please!!! I love it!
Awesome video Clair! Chef Fermin Nunez , great job. Thank you for sharing with us all! Blessings!

Si sabe el compa!
Loved this episode!! I miss those Austin breakfast tacos!!
The level of astounded he is that Claire has zero flour on her hands after mixing that bowl makes me laugh so hard 🤣🤣 it’s like dude it’s Claire 🤣🤣🤣
Love Breakfast Tacos!

Claire at 16:30 "You got a stew going" 😂 ... RIP Carl Weathers.
YES best part, I was searching for this comment
New weekend project unlocked! I can't wait to try this at home!

Fermín is amazing, man! Enjoyed this so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this guys knows his stuff and the recommendations were all excellent source: my tastebuds
It’s great to have you in Texas. We need all the good publicity we can get. I hope you will get to Houston while you’re so close.
The steak analogy is a great tip thanks!
What a great guy, this episode was a joy
I really enjoyed this episode. Definitely going to make this week. Loved the cat cam at the end.
I grew up in Arizona but was raised eating New Mexican styled food. Hatch green chile is my personal favorite but I know its popular to have chipotle chile or a combo (Christmas style).
Great way to start my morning! Love you Claire
Claire hits the road!

LOLOL the quick shot of Harris' eyes 🤣🤣🤣

your joy is infectious. Come to Fort Worth!

My dad made the best flour tortillas. I miss him so much!
Love seeing Claire highlighting all the great places in my hometown! ATX represent!! Tacos are life!

Will we see measurements for the flour tortillas?
I got engaged on Mt. Bonnel ❤
Este is a great spot. Their seafood dishes are wonderful.
This was so very enjoyable
Chorizo and egg is the breakfast taco staple…made with chorizo San Manuel, best chorizo ever
I am going to practice this! And amaze my sister in laws. Thank YOU
Hope you had a lovely happy Valentine’s Day Claire 💕💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Mouth watering!
BREAKFAST TACOS. Best breakfast ever

Amazing chefs!
I love this series so much and so amazing fun! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Claire is too good for this world
I am... salivating.
Is there a chance of getting the recipe for the tortillas? They look so good!!
This dude is so cool 😀 All hail Chef Nunez!
Love thissss
I’ve never seen milk used in flour tortillas, usually just water, lard, flour, baking powder and salt… might have to give that a try!
Finally, Claire is working in an appropriately sized bowl!
OMG! Those tacos looks so delicious and refreshing and perfectly done! 😊❤😊❤😊😊😊
