She was doing it all in this song. Little bit of rock, little bit of pop, little bit of disco. She even looks like she was channeling some early David Bowie here. I can see why this song stayed on the charts forever back in the day and why the DJs loved it so much.
@FallacyAsPraxis Yes, you are exactly correct about Alicia Bridges! She had that unique style of singing. But its sad to see that she didn't come up with more succeeding hits.
...i grew up hearing this song and legit did not know a white lady sang it! So many songs from that era were sang by people of all races blending their unique talents and gifts, what a beautiful thing!
Alicia Bridges singing "I Love the Nightlife (Disco Round)" in 1978. She had a unique style of singing with that accent! I loved this song since that time when i was a young man. Although this song became a massive hit almost everywhere in the world, it is too bad to see that she did not come back with other succeeding prominent hits. I always wondered about this situation. Its sad to see that this kind of talented artist faded away without much further notice. She deserved much more attention than this. Thank you for the video! Sorry about the late comment.
I was a kid in the late 1970s but a young adult in the early 1990s when Disco made it back to the clubs. I loved dancing to this and others at Maxy's in Colorado Springs from 1991 til the end of 1993.
Amazing, this is the only song \ music that I know of that incorporate country and disco together. Disco music certainly made you feel good 🤗. Sadly 🥺, when you already had the best times (Golden Era or Times), you don't get to experience it again 😮💨😔😢. Great artist, beautiful and golden 1970s disco song \ music, I love❤ this forever!
I largely agree with this sentiment but Rock and Roll has to take some of the blame. That generation of rock artists (re: grunge, alt rock) made some good music but they killed rock and roll. They dispensed with songs about the fast life, up all night, party every day, fast cars, hot women, sex, drugs 'n rock n roll etc... replaced by endless songs about self loathing, depression and the hell of addiction. I get those are real issues; thats why I dont want my music to be about it. I want to feel good when I listen to music.
What a great song harmonically melodically, just wonderful. Disco music certainly made you feel good and isn’t that the most important thing that any kind of music can do?
@@Ihavetruth22 ...its truly disco..one of the best examples of it...there is a sophistication to it at its best...that blurs music tastes and genres...however the spirit...and the lyrics are the essence of going out dancing after being disappointed...and after dancing all night..you feel great..and you may have met someone NEW...the lyrics...her singing..and the great sax solo...it doesnt get any better for really smooth sexy dancing...and we all loved the way she said ..ACK SHONN...
I just started to imagine Ellen impersonating her and singing her song. After all, she loves to dance and loves to pay tribute to female icons in entertainment.
It should be illegal for anyone other than Alicia Bridges to sing , "I Love The Nightlife" !!!

Wonderful song and singer
Beautiful Cat ! 🌤🌤🌤
Totally captures a space in time! Wow.
Please don't talk about 2021 music, just the 70's and 80's please!
I was born in 1957 and music died after 1992 afterwards. due to nasty/condesending/racist rap and most hip hop.
Still great music being made. Open your ears and be a true music lover
@@grahamjonathan762 If you listen to the rap lyrics, its garbled and lyrics are disgusting/nasty/racist and filthy. They are so talentless.

"LOVE AT FIRST BITE"
George Hamilton "Shh! Children of the night, shut up!" Hahhahahaha
I don’t know why, but I could imagine Catherine O’Hara portraying her in an SCTV skit.
