As a side note, TPC is going to do bicycle service and is looking into fittings. Coming from 30 years in the cycling industry, that is a big swing and shows how our industry is going and will continue to go through a rough patch (at least a 3-year rebound). If you are reading this, please support your local family bike shops because they will feel the most significant impact without deep pockets/credit like the big boys.

The indoor training market is huge and definitely growing. Covid switched a lot of people onto it. You can see the race to the top with the emergence of new training and racing platforms from wahoo and rouvy. Used in conjunction with outdoors cycling it will definitely get you fitter. Giant know what they're doing.

In Europe it is clear. E-bikes do not sell as expected. We had sales with Trek e-bikes a year or three ago. That is over. German brands have specialized in heavier E-bikes like Riese & Müller. These cost over 5000 USD and do still sell. The thing is that in Europe E-bike buyers are looking for a replacement for a car rather than to be sporty people. Then there is also the very popular cargo bike. Again Germans are leading in this field. Mothers bringing there kids to school in a cargo bike or a hangon trailer is popular. Employers give a fee to come to work on bike. All of them have BOSCH motors. So Bosch still does good business in this branche too. It is very rare to see a normal e-mountainbike here, let stand an e--sportsbike. The cheap e-bikes do not sell also. I thought sales would be much higher. Electric mounted on gear does not sell at all. People in cities start moving more on steps.Steps are very easy and trendy to jump on and give immediate desired result without getting tired. The conclusion I draw is that in Europe cycling is getting less popular in spare time and for training. You would say then fitness clubs are booming. No on the contrary they had huge losses the last three years. What I see is that there are more people that run to stay fit. And Padel is a hype. Running costs nothing too. There is also less youth enlisted in the National Cycling League since a couple of years.

Keep in mind this is not an attack on this rider nor any other rider. just sharing my opinions:
2:29 In some cases this can be the case, using bike that does not fit, using shifting system that does not fit you ergonomically, a rider might still be fast, or faster than others, but I would not compromise fit, ergonomics, comfort for money. Bike that fits, is setup right, and shifting system that fits reduces fatigue, thus making the rider perform well for longer. But yes pro riders jump on anything and ride well.
I would struggle being sponsored by most companies. Unless it's products I already use and love.
As I mix and match stuff to make my bike perform as well as it can, have a bike that fits me and my riding style, set up the way I like it. and I got used to this bike.
so this is a struggle racers face, getting used to the bike. this is why racers test the bikes before they decide, but sometimes they just have to get on something ride on something, sometimes brands change the bikes up too.
I don't buy anything just cus a specific rider or team uses it, or cus would cup winner rode it. I go by proper reviews and peoples experience, and more of that is definitely needed.
I want to use the best product, as long as I can afford it this is what I will do, but racers have the benefit of being paid, get free parts, so does not matter if forks crack, frames crack, and what ever.

I think it’s really important for brands to stay relevant. To call it simply, results = relevance. CCLTV needed to backup the loose of jack moir, Jesse is a smart choice as he will podium keeping canyon relevant. Rockymountain have a small window before the market sees them as average. Seems crazy when you say it this, but it’s true. How many people look at YT as high performance enduro bike, most will probably by canyon over YT, however if jack Moir finishes top 5 in EWS, consumers will look at Capra as a serious race bike

First: I disagree that cycling is an individual sport at the profession level. Pros have bikes built for them so your engineers and produces are key. Second what training tools and people do you get to practice with matter based on the team's budget.

More power to anyone who gets paid for doing what they love. The rest of us do it for fun. And does anyone really care what kind of bike they ride when are getting paid to ride? The best bike? Is the bike you like to ride and proves to be reliable. All of the major manufacturers make incredible bikes in every category in their top line model ranges. Bike prices like everything else will come down. New and used. Fewer people will be walking around with free money printed by the Fed. Cost of capital is up and that means earnings will get squeezed for every company. Buying a $3-$8,000 bike will be a purchase requiring thought and purpose not reflex and impulse. The caught COVID mindset and one of scarcity and the Fed is changing all of that because of inflation. Cutting prices when your cost of goods and labor are going up is a double whammy and if you have over produced ?? Survival will be rule #1. Hoping for an inventory glut?

Look at skateboarding, every deck is pretty much the same board with a different graphic and sales are generated by having the best/ coolest or well respected guys use the products. Or Ken Roczen switching to Suzuki this year which is by far the most outdated bike that hasn’t been selling for years but when he makes the switch dealers start selling out of all their old stock. We the consumers choose what the prices of bikes are going to be with our wallets. If people just don't buy at certain prices, then prices will have to come down. Companies will only be able to lay off and cut costs from the bottom for so long. Eventually they will lose market share if their prices are not competitively priced. As they should, because bikes are a commodity and not a necessity, at least not a new bike every year. Don't believe the clearance sale prices right now, wait a couple more months and see the real deals start popping up.

In regards to the Giant/Stages deal, they are not necessarily looking at the indoor trainer market as much as the spin/smart bike category. Giant already makes many of Stages indoor spin bikes. What great marketing to have your name on the spin bikes at clubs. It could also be that Stages owed Giant money for the things it manufactures for them. Have the terms of the sale been released? It could be very enlightening.

These videos are nothing but click bait and over exaggerated for easy views. Not to mention you can just go to bicycle retailer and get all this info. Lots of this isn’t specific to bicycle industry as there are layoffs everywhere…. Rising interest rates, recession, cost of living all contributing factors. I don’t know why you have such a bone to pick with the bike industry?

As a non-racer and basketball fan (as per what i follow in the pro sporting world), i could give a rat's peytoot about what Any pro bike racer does on the trail/road or off it. Bike companies could save a ton of money and ditch their racing teams and simply focus on making sensible, simple, quality, affordable bikes and components. Encouraging more new blood into the sport/lifestyle along with lobbying for more bike-friendly cities would also be a hugely positive act. The bike companies could fight along side IMBA or whatever trail access/open land preservation advocacy group in any given country for more trail access and trails in general; organizations like the Sierra Club (the Hateful Old Hikers Association) are Not our friends and we have the numbers they don't(!).
Also, we Don't need these bike companies via pro shredders, encouraging Horrible trail etiquette or abuse (e.g. massive dirt-roosts in corners like moto-cross racers do in Closed courses) or encouraging more noobs/less talented riders to visit the hospital or morgue due to the Dangerous fad of 'rad' riding.

Alright, Nice of you to make informative video's for people but putting Trek HQ in the thumbnail and putting a layoff title on it, whilst Trek is not laying off anyone, rather doing a hire-stop to not have to fire people. This is just FAKE NEWS. Please change the thumbnail or im reporting the video. This has gone too far.

Don't worry Brian, I will continue to make videos like I used to - but I'm really enjoying curating industry news and people are responding well to it. I do believe the industry has a big issue and people want to track it along with me. Thanks for your feedback.

I don’t even believe that you said that conventional bikes are safer then e-bikes!! 😳😳 Are you even paying attention to what you’re saying?! Are you really a informed person/biker??
-Fact: on a conventional bike if you’re descending steep stuff easily you can get 60km/h. What’s difference here between both if using same good brakes and rotors?!
-Fact: e-bikes are safer because of the weight… more planted to the ground, suspensions are more efficient due to that same fact…
    Get informed!!

The politics aspect aside, the issues with the bike industry aren't really from the economy. The pandemic caused a run on bikes, so they were scarce and producers who are mostly in Asia where the pandemic hit hardest couldn't keep up with demand. Prices skyrocketed because there was scarce inventory. Places like Pros Closet bought used bikes at inflated new bike prices, and now there's a glut of new bikes on the market they're trying to unload and the used resellers are stuck with overpriced units they'll lose money selling.
