I am a 2020 Bolt owner. You did a great job reviewing the car. I liked your statement that it is a good transition car for people wanted to try an EV. The one thing that I would have to perhaps take a bit of exception with is when you say that people should skip the Bolt, and get the Model 3 for just a bit more. The reality is that the Bolt can be purchased for less than $25,000 all day long. A comparable Model 3 is at least 50% more. A loaded long-range Model 3 will be 2 to 3 TIMES the cost of the Bolt. If you can afford the Tesla, by all means buy it. But few people will be cross-shopping the two cars. The real cost difference is just too great.
Thanks for watching and your thoughtful comment. Yes, I mentioned how the bolt is currently available at excellent prices but I think you are right, there are bolt people and Tesla people. I’ve recommended the Bolt to many friends and referred one to my salesman. I don’t think anyone wipe’s be disappointed with the Bolt.
Agree. Tesla is altogether different. When I looked at the Bolt and Tesla in 2017, I ended up with the Bolt as Tesla would not lease (which is the safest route to go with EVs). Now, they offer leasing. With two more Bolts coming out in less than a year, these are exciting times for GM, though Toyota is going to step its foot into the electric world for the first time (though they did have a RAV 4 EV years ago). GM is committed, though. They ditched their Volt PHEV to concentrate on really "green" only cars.
That what i was going to say. The Model 3 is at least 15000 more than the Bolt, way above its price range. The M3 is good, "techier", but the Bolt is awesome for its price, a lot fair.
Honestly, 16 miles of battery degradation in that time doesn't seem like a ton to me. Some of the old nissan leafs had like 30% degradation after that many miles, and that would mean more than 70 miles lost! It makes sense though because the bolt has the active thermal management while the leaf battery was just air cooled.
Also I think the fastest battery degradation happens during those first few years. I think after that it degrades much slower. People consider it sort of breaking in the battery
@@jeremykeaton274 Also I'm wondering if his reading of 222 miles at full was a projection based on driving habits and not a number meant to be measured against the official original miles figure.
The software update for the early Bolts was for the battery monitoring. The guess O meter is not a good representation of the state of the battery, it's an algorithm based on how the car is driven.
Buttons and knobs was a huge selling point for me. I can hand the key to anyone and they can drive off without a 15 minute lesson. You may not have any battery loss. My 2017's efficiency is 4.8 in the summer at about 240 miles range (middle number) charged to 88% and about 2.7 in Chicago winter (about 140 miles). And that varies if I'm trying for range or sprinting away from stop signs this week. But I got it specifically for the range knowing that it would drop in the winter so I never have to worry about it. I'll be all set if Wisconsin and Michigan ever discover electricity so I can drive there and find somewhere to charge.
These are ~15K used. Between this and a used Ioniq Electric with 125 miles and air cooling...Bolt all day for best used EV bargain. Thanks GM for building a bargain basement EV with high depreciation!
Were they really only 15k then? I'm looking at your comment 9 months later. With covid n shit prices have skyrocketed and now I'm facing 20-25k for one of these. I'm hoping 15k is more about where it's at by the time I have the right amount saved. I'm definitely gonna have to wait for this jump in pricing to go down 🤞
@@jghall00 that's fucking awesome. I hope it goes back down. I'm 18 in college and with a bit of saving a bit of waiting I think I can pull one of these off 🤞
Yep, they were 😫. I was about to pull the trigger on one that was 17k but decided to wait. Now that I’m in the market again, the one I have my eye on is 22k Crazy.
Good video. You covered a lot on the practical use of a Bolt. However, I was surprised by a few things. First, there's no way you can get a Tesla for less than $15,000 more and realistically closer to $20,000 more than a Bolt. I would have liked a Model 3, but my loaded up 2019 Bolt cost $26,000 a year ago. The best I could do with a Model 3 was mid to low 40s. Also, you really should get your blind spot sensor checked. Mine is very reliable. So is my regen braking. I've never had the car coast in L mode. Sorry for the criticisms. I did like your video!
Thanks so much. My 2017 bolt was 43,000. My 2020 Model 3 was 35,500. Bolts are a lot less expensive now though. That’s the life of an early adopter. Haha. Yes. I need to get those things looked at. Thanks for your honest feedback
I'm a Tesla model 3 owner and just bought a used 2019 bolt premier. I bought the bolt to be a second car for work and commuting around town. I got great deal in the bolt at $12,900 after the instant 4k tax credit the car only had 23k miles and the main battery pack was replaced that has a 120k warranty. I am very pleased with the performance and build quality of this car for what it is and, absolutely enjoying driving it daily around town while giving my model 3 a well deserved mileage rest.. Great review btw the bolt is a great second car for those that are already in the EV world..
The 2020 has about a 20 mile increase over previous models, so I think that small boost will help compensate for the battery degradation of the first few years
Love the info, thanks. I am thinking of replacing my Nissan Leaf soon and this is at the top of my list. Careful saying "still the best EV?" because you will get all the Tesla fanbois screeching in your comment section.
I wasn’t aware these had a range of 200M+ I’ve been wanting an i3 but the range on the REX is around 140ish. I prefer the look on the i3 but man than 200 range is tempting. Thanks for the review!
I have a 2020 Bolt EV with the wireless phone charging pocket on the center console, the same as depicted in this video. My iPhone was too small to fit in the space UNTIL I lifted out the plastic liner. With that removed, my iPhone fit perfectly inside the charging pocket and it charges without any problems. So try removing the plastic liner if your phone is too tight or snug with it in place. It is removable and I have not experienced any problems doing this.
A word about batter degradation. If you use car for city riding and not long trips. Don't charge it every day to 100%. Charge it maybe to 70% or 60%. Lower the better. And if you, lower the rate of charge if it still gets the charge you need by the morning. This will prolong batter life a lot.
If you’re charging to 100% often, that would be why the battery has degraded. And also, the mileage displayed on the GOM is based off your driving habits, not the potential range you could get, if your drive more efficiently
I drive a 2018 Bolt and it is true, it is good transition into electric vehicles. I am ver happy with it. It looks small but it is roomy inside. Prices need to go down so working class families can purchase them.
Yes, I love my leased 2017 Bolt and have been tempted to buy as the prices have dropped dramatically in the U.S. GM is giving g $8500 cash back or some cash and 0% financing. Of the 30+ cars I've had over fifty years, this has been the most fun to drive, and in the top 5% of reliable vehicles...besides saving gas and time, there is virtually zero maintenance too.
I bought a loaded Bolt, brand new in 2019. It is a good car and I really don't have any complaints. I wanted to support GM (my father worked for GM for his whole career) and Tesla didn't have the Model 3 out quite yet. Too bad that GM dropped the ball and let Tesla get so far ahead when they brought out the first electric vehicles in the 1990s.
There's a 2017 Bolt in my area being offered for $20k. I am looking into using it for my grocery delivery job and to replace my Ford Fusion. I figure for $20k, it's worth it. I've been looking into transitioning to an EV, but after seeing what competing Leafs offer for the price along with all of that range anxiety, I decided the Bolt was the way to go. I can afford a Tesla later.
@@atw9913 I've started looking around at those too. I think I might wait until the end of December just to see if prices move down any further. Saving money to make a sizable down payment on it due to my credit being not so great. Would give me time to work on a potential trade-in, too.
I had an update and they updated my Bolt to only go 90% charge. I dont know how people get mileage. I get total range of 225kms now. It used to be 275kms. I see folks getting a lot more.
When I post polite critical comments on other Chevy EV videos, they are typically deleted, so hopefully you are not on their payroll. Bought a 2018 new, was denied a buy-back, so we paid Chevy more $ for 2021 to get out of the scary 2017-2019 battery issues. Within WEEKS learned ALL Bolts would need battery replacement. Both the 18 and 21 make the jet engine fan noise whenever charging in hot weather, which is very disconcerting. Have waited 1.5 yrs for new battery and dealer that took our 2018 has, too. Can't do the 90% range cap and not go below 70 mls due to long commute in winter temps. After a bunch of critical posts I recently made, Chevy miraculously has a battery for me now so will get that in 10 days. Today is cold and hearing popcorn/percolator sounds if plugged in - dealer can't say by phone if it's safe to charge, would have to drive an hour there. Also just learned of a new fire-related recall on Bolts related to seatbelt pretensioner in wrecks igniting the carpet, but dealer doesn't know when part will be avail. We're stuck with the car since resale has tanked. The early adopter tax has not been enjoyable. I believe their Ultium is LG, too, so...
One thing the Model 3 sorely needs is the overhead 360 camera, but wow I had no idea Bolts were that expensive… I guess the more you drive it the more it pays for itself!
Awesome video. I am one of those hardcore GM guys lol. I've owned a Trans Am and a Firebird also a Corvette and a couple of Chevy Metros. I currently own a Chevy Spark. I ordered a 2023 Bolt EV in December and it just arrived at the dealership yesterday. It will be ready for me late Monday but I'll be at work. So hopefully I'll have it in my garage on Tuesday. 🚙 🇺🇸 🔌
I put a mini dome mirror on the driver side mirror, zero blind spots now, I have an LT and drove a primer for a couple weeks when mine was in the shop (just a clockspring and window regulator) and I agree, the bind spot works "sometimes". The only thing I wish my Bolt had was the blue ambient lighting in the interior- stupid- but awesome.
Wow my Bolt is a 17 and I get up to 280 miles in late spring, now in July up to 267 miles and around 210 in the winter charged to 100% drinking in nyc , my car has 60k miles and fast charge the car at least 2 times a week my battery has been tip top but I drive very conservative
When brand new I'd get up to 309 in spring and fall (I live in the desert). In summer, now, after 3 years, I get around 230, but in Fall it should go back to 270 or so. When I do stop and go it does its best, and driving at 75 with A/C on really has the range go down, but it's been a great car. Two more Bolt models coming out very soon so we'll see.
I test drove this bolt last summer. The AC was set to 65 and never got cool. The weather was 100 degrees that day. It felt like 75 in the car. I was sweating the whole test drive. The Prius was 🥶 that same day I test drove it.
Kobra ToldYa thats another story. The dealer didn’t know how the car worked. I knew more about it than them lol. Seriously. I have been researching this car for years now. Finally test drove it last summer and wow the ac wasn’t impressive at all. I am in south Texas. It gets really hot. I drove the Prius before the bolt and the ac was really cold. My glasses fogged up lol.
Kobra ToldYa I wanted to like the bolt. I will give it another shot when it gets hotter this summer. I think the bolt is perfect size for me for city driving and errands etc. I gotta say the Prius really impressed me. I can’t stop thinking about the ac lol. But the Prius is slow. I need a bit more power like the bolt. I think the bolt is the best looking practical EV out there now. Yes even better than the model 3. That car looks too fancy. I’m not the fancy type lol
Summertime, I usually charge to 70%; spring/fall 80%; winter 90%. At 50k miles and 4 years I don't have observable battery degradation. Unless you heading off to a long trip, there is no reason to charge to 100%.
If you put hilltop mode on and never turned it off your battery wouldn't have degraded. Our TM3 doesn't have the mirror warning and the cross traffic alert when backing up.
Thanks for the review.. I’m in the market for a used EV and working on a budget. This kind of makes it easier for me to decide what to buy. I found some used bolts in the ~$15k range and Used teslas are still in the ~$30k range and range wise they are similar. So yeah thank you again..
Another thing to consider is that Tesla repairs might be a much bigger headache compared to something you take to your local chevy dealer. When there's physical damage Tesla has longer turnaround times and usually higher repair bills
You say the battery has degraded in the 3 years. Did you base this assumption off of the GOM on the dash? The GOM only gives you a range based on how the car has been driven recently as well as the outside temperatures, terrain and climate control usage in the recent past usage. You could go into the energy screen information and look at how the range impacts since last full charge screen to add those miles to what the GOM reads to give you a better idea of actual degradation. I have only had my 2019 Bolt for about 1 1/2 year and a little over 17K miles. I would be surprised if my degradation is even 1% at this point. By the way, my GOM reads 251 miles currently and the app says the battery is charged to 79%. At that ratio, I would have 316 miles on the GOM if I charged to 100%!! The reason the figure is so high is because almost all of my recent driving is stop and go driving close to home and my miles/kWh is at 4.5 over the last 1000 or so miles when I last reset the trip meter.
Kobra ToldYa We like the Bolt a lot. Like you, I am always in ‘L ‘ mode as I like to one pedal drive and gain the regen rather than wearing down the brake pads. We have taken approximately 15 road trips in the 17 months and the Bolt is the one we drive while our other car, an ICE, sits in the garage. We are in Fresno and I have gone as far as Casa Grande AZ and Las Vegas with no problems. The only maintenance (and I use that term loosely)I have had in the 17K miles is replacing the drivers side rear window that some degenerate broke while I was at the gym. I anticipate the Bolt will be driven by either my wife or me for over 200K miles as we keep our cars for over a decade. Two of my dislikes are the lack or adaptive cruise control and the slower charging rate compared to other EVs on DCFC. Nothing I can’t live with. EVs are the future and I am driving it now. I am also actively shopping for another EV to replace our ICE vehicle.
My driving pattern hasn't changed, mostly stop and go, but in three years, the desert heat has somewhat impacted the battery. In my first Fall, I'd over 300 miles range...now in Fall, I might get 270....summer is brutal here (110 today) and range goes down, but it sure beats waiting 15 minutes in Costco's gas line, and electricity is either free or cheap here. Smart neighbors use solar panels so very free for them.
Nice review. I’m not really a GM fan but I’m glad you got 3 years with absolutely no problems. How much more is your electric bill with charging it ? Have a great weekend 👍💥💥
Great video, but let's face it, I would not bother buying one right now until GM takes responsibility for the current recalls where the vehicle bursts in flames
Another difference is reliability. Bolt wins there. Also Teslas cost a fortune to repair and you have to basically ship your car to them and wait. Bolts not so much and if you have a problem Chevy has a huge network of shops to repair it. I own a 2020 Bolt and love it!
You ever use Sport mode on that occasional Porsche or Ferrari? It’s really a fun race challenge, I rented a Hyundai Kona from Hertz and that thing is no joke. Super fast as hell on the highway
If you're still under the warranty I might have GM check that, it shouldn't be degrading like that. I still get the same range that it's rated for and my volt is 7 years old.
Iam confused some dealers are telling me they have all the bolts from 2017 to 2022 on hold do to battery issues ., but other dealers are still selling them? Should I buy used one right now? If I buy one right now will gm replace my battery?? To prevent a fire do I charge battery to a certain percentage? Or should I just buy a used Nissan leaf?
I love the 2022 Bolt ev redesign. Truly would love to own the car with its amazing range, tech, and price tag compared to other ev's. But, they really have to bump the charge speeds up to at least 125 kw because we are too far into the future to be charging at 55 kw max on such a great EV
I like your video but you got a few things wrong so let me put it in place. First I would highly recommend this car to anybody for their first electric vehicle it's much better than a Tesla for your first electric vehicle and it's much cheaper you cannot get a Tesla for $35,000 your dreamy period you can get this car for under $25,000 used one year old my wife just did it 2019 with only 5,000 miles on it so practically brand new so they're you're incorrect we have Chevy bolts 2019 we're not fans of any car but this car is much better than a model 3 for the price and like I said before you can get a used one for about half of a new one I bought two of them that way. Yes they have updates for the Chevy bolt again you do have to get them from the dealer but that's no big deal you can get them every 17,000 Miles when you rotate your cars. Also it has Android auto and apple carplay which are both excellent and the Tesla does not have. that degradation that you're showing is almost nothing Tesla is much more if you actually go to a website that I forgot the name of most Chevy bolts get only about 3% degradation after 65,000 MI which is absolutely nothing not any car comes close to that but then again you didn't mention that you didn't do your research. Oh by the way there are loads of charging sites throughout the United States for this kind of car and other electrical cars Tesla has the largest with their name on it but there are third parties out there that have just as many. I'll post the site that shows it later on anyway it was a decent video but a lot of wrongs take care
Great review! We just bought a 2017 with 38000. I'm curious, it being winter where we are and haven't had the chance to see the range in warmer weather yet, what is your range say in warmer weather on a full charge? Ours says 155 miles. Which I feel is a little low. Maybe because of the cold climate? Not sure.
Thank you. Yes, 155 sounds low. What is the temperature there? It doesn't get very cold where I am in southern California but I would get around 217-224ish
cold climate will result in lower mileage since the Bolt's heater/AC is not very efficient. Use the seat and steering wheel heater to warm you up, and use the heater as sparingly as you can if you need the range. I believe the heater will use around 6kW of power when it is maxed out, meaning you'll use up to 6kWh of energy per hour of heater operation while driving when it is cold - that will definitely eat up your battery, considering that at about 60mph and 4.0mi/kWh efficiency, the actual driving for that hour will use approximately 15kWh. In other words, driving with the heater on max will result in using up to about 40% more energy than it would take to drive the same distance with the heater off. This calculation doesn't take into account the battery thermal management either. In real life, the heater is going to likely use a bit less, maybe 3kW average depending on the outside temps, you can quickly see how cold temps can affect an EV (generally) and Bolt's (specifically) range.
in my country (Mexico) a Tesla 3 is almost double the price of the bolt, ande there are a lot of chevy dealers here, Tesla only has one in all the country
Traditional, that's it! That's what I am. I like the speedo right in front of me like the Bolt. I do not like the large screen in the middle of the dash like a Tesla and I do not like the front end styling of a Tesla. (looks like it ran into a wall) I like the traditional look of the Bolt inside and out. Maybe that's because I'm OLD! (older than dirt) I'm not futuristic at all and all the new gadgets and electronics are way above my head. I need something simple for my old simple brain. So, for me the Bolt would be the better choice.
Doesn't the Bolt have a Regen Paddle on then steering wheel like my Chevy Volts? I use that feature and never use L. Wheels still don't have any brake dust buildup after 3+ years, as I use the brakes minimally. and obviously when necessary.
Iam looming to trade my 2009 Prius touring for a 2017 Chevy bolt, however iam concert about the batteries catching on fire. Are all the bolt models like that or only certain ones? Also we will be buying a rav4 prime in that future but how would I use a bolt charger to charge a rav 4 price or viseversa? thank u
@@KobraToldYa yea but the batteries are bad on certain models not all of them and the new models are on hold do to the battery..it does not affect all the 2017 models but it does on the new ones. That's crazy
I really want a Model 3 or Mustang Mach-e, but I can get a used Bolt for $20K. Figure the same; that the Bolt is better as a transition or test to going EV.
What happens if you are driving the car in L or D and say your kid or pet bumps, pushes the park button while in gear at say 45 mph? Will it tear up the motor?
When you charge the battery on a non Tesla car they recommend you charge to just eighty percent not 100 percent. That may be why your battery has depleted over time
They were a rip off then, but now in 2024 I scored my 2019 Bolt LT with 55,000 miles, most options and a new battery for $7,943 out the door with the 30 percent cash off the sticker price tax credit.
I don't know how you degraded the battery so much, several people I know have over 100k miles with very little battery loss. Also you can't buy another EV at the discounted price of the Bolt for anywhere near it. It's a really good car, I think you missed that.Don't forget when this came out it was the first long range affordable EV beating Tesla by a couple of years. The regen doesn't work on a fully charged car because there's nothing to charge! You should learn what regen is before saying it doesn't work, on two Bolt's mine has never failed.
I don’t know how the battery degraded so much for me either. 🤷🏾♂️ I discussed Thai with Chevy and they said it’s typical even though I said I’ve heard otherwise. But I can only share my experience. It is a good Ev for the price and range but other areas leave a bit to be desired. The beauty of the auto industry is there’s something for everyone out there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@KobraToldYa Eric ("News Coulomb", you probably checked him on YT) has 130k with ~ 5% degradation. There was a recall on the 2017 battery if you didn't have it checked you might want to. Thanks for the reply.
@@KobraToldYa There's also a recall on the front sway bar. That's important because, while the part runs a couple of hundred bucks or so, the installation cost is over a grand. Check with your dealer especially if you hear a noise in your front end.
many cars now tell you available range based on statistics of your driving. so it might not represent the battery degradation you think it is. both side! so both it could be better or worse. one really needs to do controlled test for them new and after 2-3 years
this guy doesn't realize that most people that want to own a ev car for the first time aren't going to jump right into the pros on buying a model 3. that's ridiculous. I would highly consider the bolt for first timers who are not really used to ev cars and who are on tight budgets. this man has put the cart before the horse. Jump into a Tesla that is takes NASA rocket science skills on how to use the infotainment before getting a cheaper alternative that is more simplistic to use and are far more cheaper. @@KobraToldYa I mean if the model 3 is the first car a person should have before a bolt, than I respect that. bolts are ev cars for beginners but spending more for teslas is what most people would buy instead due to their popularity.
@@KobraToldYa I been trying to hold out until I see 400 miles a charge... but the 2017 bolts are coming off of lease right now so there are tons of them for a decent price.

@@isaacdoesevs2492 Unlucky dude. I feel for ya.
You're welcome and yes, anything thing over 200 is that much more of a relief. Lessening rage anxiety is crucial. Thanks for watching
I always love reviews from owners and not those I drove it for an hour kind of people.
Thank you
Great review. I just got a 2021 for my wife and both of us love it. Such a sleeper with amazing features and comfort.
Nice! Enjoy it. Great car
Great job dude. About to pick up a 2017 for $15,500. First EV.
Keep up the great work!
Geek Therapy Radio nice!
I just did the same thing. Got a premier with 24k for 15,700. Not my fist ev.
Thanks for watching!
Great review and the cinematography is impressive.
I bought a loaded Bolt, brand new in 2019. It is a good car and I really don't have any complaints. I wanted to support GM (my father worked for GM for his whole career) and Tesla didn't have the Model 3 out quite yet.
Too bad that GM dropped the ball and let Tesla get so far ahead when they brought out the first electric vehicles in the 1990s.
i see these for 14k now in TX
Hope you copped
Good review! Like how you kept it all simple. Thanks for letting us know about how much the battery has dropped over time.
That’s a great idea!
I bought a new 2020 Premier for $26,000 out the door. Look around at new before buying used.
It’s very weird.
important does it use both AC level 2 charging and DC charging to??
I put a mini dome mirror on the driver side mirror, zero blind spots now, I have an LT and drove a primer for a couple weeks when mine was in the shop (just a clockspring and window regulator) and I agree, the bind spot works "sometimes". The only thing I wish my Bolt had was the blue ambient lighting in the interior- stupid- but awesome.
Wyvern that’s cool ill look into that
Wow my Bolt is a 17 and I get up to 280 miles in late spring, now in July up to 267 miles and around 210 in the winter charged to 100% drinking in nyc , my car has 60k miles and fast charge the car at least 2 times a week my battery has been tip top but I drive very conservative
👀 wow
Joel Martinez sheesh. That’s brutal. We haven’t had that issue in ours. What did the dealer say about that?
Kobra ToldYa thats another story. The dealer didn’t know how the car worked. I knew more about it than them lol. Seriously. I have been researching this car for years now. Finally test drove it last summer and wow the ac wasn’t impressive at all. I am in south Texas. It gets really hot. I drove the Prius before the bolt and the ac was really cold. My glasses fogged up lol.
Wow. I find that happens a lot. We do more research on things than the employees. That would definitely deter me from buying it as well.
I hear you on that. Many newer EVs are coming out now too. Keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for watching.
Summertime, I usually charge to 70%; spring/fall 80%; winter 90%. At 50k miles and 4 years I don't have observable battery degradation. Unless you heading off to a long trip, there is no reason to charge to 100%.
Just got one of these today, thank you for this
If you put hilltop mode on and never turned it off your battery wouldn't have degraded.
Enjoy!
How are you enjoying the car so far?
Yea, the miles estimate on the dashboard is not an accurate read of possible battery degradation.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ! LOOKING TO BUY ONE SOON ! WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST !
This has real value for me. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for watching
You should do an update after the battery replacement with the warranty.
Great review! You hit all major points.
Thanks a lot man!
What year model? LT or Premier??
Can u turn off that screen or does it stay on as one drives.
Nice review. I’m not really a GM fan but I’m glad you got 3 years with absolutely no problems. How much more is your electric bill with charging it ? Have a great weekend 👍💥💥
Thanks a lot. We only charge it when it’s off peak and it has gone up about $20-25 a month
Great video, but let's face it, I would not bother buying one right now until GM takes responsibility for the current recalls where the vehicle bursts in flames
That’s the craziest thing right now. Thanks for watching.
It’s really a fun race challenge,
I rented a Hyundai Kona from Hertz and that thing is no joke. Super fast as hell on the highway
Actually with Tesla, you cannot turn off regenerative braking. You can turn down the strength of it but you cannot turn it off completely
If you're still under the warranty I might have GM check that, it shouldn't be degrading like that. I still get the same range that it's rated for and my volt is 7 years old.
I bought a new 2020 Chevy Bolt LT for 23,000 dollars.
Very helpful in my decision. Be safe. Thank you.
Great! Thanks
How is it that I can play this at 1.5x speed and it sounds normal? haha
I must speak slowly. Thanks for the tip
Nice Review! got my Mach E on order waiting!
Thanks man. That's looking like it's gonna be a crazy dope car!
I absolutely would not buy one right now.
I love the 2022 Bolt ev redesign. Truly would love to own the car with its amazing range, tech, and price tag compared to other ev's. But, they really have to bump the charge speeds up to at least 125 kw because we are too far into the future to be charging at 55 kw max on such a great EV
Thank you. Very informative and the car seems to be treating you well
Thanks for coming through. I no longer have the bolt.
@@KobraToldYa video popped up because I've been doing a ton of research.
Awesome review, and I like that you had the perspective of also being a Tesla owner.
in my country (Mexico) a Tesla 3 is almost double the price of the bolt, ande there are a lot of chevy dealers here, Tesla only has one in all the country
Wow! I hear Bolts are pretty popular in Mexico.
Traditional, that's it! That's what I am. I like the speedo right in front of me like the Bolt. I do not like the large screen in the middle of the dash like a Tesla and I do not like the front end styling of a Tesla. (looks like it ran into a wall)
I like the traditional look of the Bolt inside and out. Maybe that's because I'm OLD! (older than dirt) I'm not futuristic at all and all the new gadgets and electronics are way above my head. I need something simple for my old simple brain. So, for me the Bolt would be the better choice.
Makes sense. And that’s great that there is something out there for everyone!
Doesn't the Bolt have a Regen Paddle on then steering wheel like my Chevy Volts?
I use that feature and never use L. Wheels still don't have any brake dust buildup after 3+ years, as I use the brakes minimally. and obviously when necessary.
Yes it does. I use it when I want to have a little fun. Thanks for watching.
Does it get Netflix?
Iam looming to trade my 2009 Prius touring for a 2017 Chevy bolt, however iam concert about the batteries catching on fire. Are all the bolt models like that or only certain ones? Also we will be buying a rav4 prime in that future but how would I use a bolt charger to charge a rav 4 price or viseversa? thank u
To be honest, I would not buy a Bolt until they release new models. The batteries are getting really bad
@@KobraToldYa yea but the batteries are bad on certain models not all of them and the new models are on hold do to the battery..it does not affect all the 2017 models but it does on the new ones. That's crazy
“Would you recommend this car?”...”No”...done.
I was getting road-head and it got bumped. Nothing happened like that.
When you charge the battery on a non Tesla car they recommend you charge to just eighty percent not 100 percent. That may be why your battery has depleted over time
GREAT VIDEO ! GREAT EVERY DAT CAR ! GREAT REVIEW !
Dang, I put 63000 miles on mine in 3 years. My commute was too long. 🙂

How are the seats?
Many people complain about the comfort. They were fine to me and really formed to my body over the years.
Is it true that a battery replacement for this car costs around $16,000?
I’ve read that it’s between 5000 and 8,000
Yes 16 stacks plus labor.
They were a rip off then, but now in 2024 I scored my 2019 Bolt LT with 55,000 miles, most options and a new battery for $7,943 out the door with the 30 percent cash off the sticker price tax credit.
Wow!
Where’d you score that? Before or after tax credits?
@@pkrollin514 At a dealership $7,943 is with the instant cash tax credit taken off, it's a battery buy back car.
Is the insurance expensive?

No doubt, Tesla's menu only approach can be annoying.
Super useful
this guy doesn't realize that most people that want to own a ev car for the first time aren't going to jump right into the pros on buying a model 3. that's ridiculous. The model 3 is NO bolt competitor. You can't comparing a luxury car for doctors and lawyers to a car for young college kids who aren't even married should not be in the same ring together. This is Ferrari to Nissan Z right here or apples to oranges.
Thanks for commenting.
@@KobraToldYa I mean if the model 3 is the first car a person should have before a bolt, than I respect that. bolts are ev cars for beginners but spending more for teslas is what most people would buy instead due to their popularity.

@@KobraToldYa according to the website and promotional videos no.. That's very unfortunate. Lithium batteries hate being charged to full capacity. This is why tesla advises their clients to charge up to 80 percent ad much as possible.

You mention it's a car for someone that is a loyalties of GM or Chevrolet. I HATE GM and still looking at getting one just because I want to experience an electric car and right now the Bolt is the cheapest. All the stuff you are saying about working sometimes is what you get when you buy a low quality GM product. Everything in my Ford works the way it's supposed to every time!
